BREAKING: Jury Rules Donald Trump Must Pay $83.3 Million To E. Jean Carroll

A nine-person jury in federal court in New York reached a verdict that President Trump must pay E. Jean Carroll $83.3 million in damages. According to NBC News‚ the award includes $11 million for damage to Carroll’s reputation‚ $7.3 million for emotional harm and other damages‚ and $65 million in punitive damages. Inner City Press reporter Matthew Russell reports: Andy: id Ms. Carroll prove‚ by a preponderance of the evidence‚ that 1. Ms. Carroll suffered more than nominal damages as a result of Mr. Trump’s publication of the June 21 and June 22‚ 2019 statements? Answer Yes. — Inner City Press (@innercitypress) January 26‚ 2024 Judge Kaplan; Members of the jury‚ there was years ago a respected judge of this court would made it a practice never to thank a jury. Judge Weinfeld thought it was a duty – I think juries should be thanked — Inner City Press (@innercitypress) January 26‚ 2024 Russell provided the jury verdict sheet: NBC News reports: The decision came after contentious closing arguments that saw Trump storm out of the courtroom. He returned for his own attorney’s closing arguments but left the courthouse at 4 p.m.‚ before the jury returned its verdict. Trump had already been found liable for defaming Carroll while he was president by mocking her allegation that he’d sexually abused her‚ so this jury was only tasked with determining how much she should be paid in damages. Carroll’s lawyer Roberta Kaplan asked the jury for at least $24 million in compensatory damages for the harm she suffered and “lots and lots of money” in punitive damages to stop him from continuing to defame her. Trump’s attorney Alina Habba contended that Carroll “had failed to show she is entitled to any damages at all” because she “actively sought the comments and the attention” she received. The trial started on Jan. 16‚ and Trump was the final witness in the case. He testified for under five minutes. “Absolutely ridiculous! I fully disagree with both verdicts‚ and will be appealing this whole Biden Directed Witch Hunt focused on me and the Republican Party. Our Legal System is out of control‚ and being used as a Political Weapon. They have taken away all First Amendment Rights. THIS IS NOT AMERICA!” Donald Trump said in a statement. President Trump just released a new statement about the insanely unjust verdict in the Carroll vs Trump defamation trial in NYC! Today President Trump was ordered to pay E Jean Carroll $83.3 million. “THIS IS NOT AMERICA!” pic.twitter.com/1eNp2JPh5G — Laura Loomer (@LauraLoomer) January 26‚ 2024 A closer look: A left wing NYC jury just awarded E. Jean Carroll $83 million dollars because they said Trump defamed her by denying he sexually assaulted her. So now it’s defamation to claim you didn’t commit a crime? Banana republic we live in‚ y’all. Total banana republic. — Clay Travis (@ClayTravis) January 26‚ 2024 The court ruled that Donald Trump is not guilty of rape in the case of E. Jean Carroll. Yet‚ the same court still ordered Trump to pay the lunatic woman $83.3 million. Another example of how the government has been weaponized against Donald Trump in attempt to ruin the man. — Benny Johnson (@bennyjohnson) January 26‚ 2024 E Jean Carroll not getting a cent of that — Jack Poso (@JackPosobiec) January 26‚ 2024 “Judge Kaplan refuses to allow the Anderson Cooper Interview on CNN of E. Jean Carroll wherein Carroll says‚ ‘Rape is sexy‚’ and numerous other things that totally exonerate me. Judge Kaplan is refusing me my Constitutional Right to Due Process‚ to defend myself against this False Accusation. This is a one-sided trial‚ where the other side is allowed everything‚ and we are allowed nothing. He is an extremely abusive individual‚ the likes of which few have seen before!” Trump said. President Trump posted a new statement on Truth Social about the E Jean Carroll trial while he was in court for closing arguments. “This is a one-sided trial‚ where the other side is allowed everything‚ and we are allowed nothing. He (Judge Kaplan) is an extremely abusive… pic.twitter.com/urBHnABPoQ — Laura Loomer (@LauraLoomer) January 26‚ 2024 From The Hill: Friday’s ruling by a jury in New York marked the second time Carroll has won damages from Trump at trial‚ with the new total adding to a $5 million verdict last year finding Trump liable for sexually abusing Carroll and defaming her over a separate comment. Trump briefly testified during the case this week. He left the courthouse before the verdict was read Friday. U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan‚ an appointee of former President Clinton who oversaw the trial‚ had already ruled Trump defamed Carroll. The jury merely considered the issue of damages. The former president claimed — and still does — that Carroll was lying and made up the accusation to sell her book. He told The Hill in a 2019 interview that Carroll was “not my type.” At a CNN town hall event last May‚ Trump called Carroll a “whack job” and insisted he did not know her.
