On January 13, 2005, 35-year-old Sherrie Lynette Stout and her 1-year-old daughter, Quranah Gilliam, vanished from the 200 block of South Street in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Their family reported the pair missing and searched extensively for years. They began to fear the worst when, in 2009, a miracle occurred.
Quranah was found. She was five years old, alive, healthy, and living with a family in the Bronx.
Quranah was located through a tip provided to the police. That tip came from her father, Laquan Gilliam. Authorities discovered Quranah was living with a family in the Bronx, New York. The family told authorities that four years before investigators found Quranah living with them, her father, Laquan, asked them to watch her for a few days.
He never returned.
