I received an inquiry about a local legend of a possible Bigfoot, or feral man that may still survive in Round Rock, Texas, Apparently, there are still sightings of him.I received the following account:"I thought I would tell you about a cryptid local to my hometown. In my hometown of Round Rock, Texas. He is known as 'The Hairy Man,' and his description is fairly self-explanatory. He is a large humanoid figure covered in hair who lurks in the bushes along what is now called 'Hairy Man Road.'According to the legend, he is human. But I don't like to believe that. Life is more interesting with something left unexplained. They say that when he was a young boy traveling with a group, he became separated from his party and from there on lived as a hermit.For years he went without human interaction, and he became violent towards anybody who dared enter his domain by Brushy Creek. People usually avoided his road for fear of encountering him.They say that one day he was run over by a wagon and died, however, people have still had sightings. Some people swear they still see a humanoid figure waiting in the bushes along Hairy Man Road, others say they see him running through the brush. I've even heard some people say he jumped out into the road and disappeared into the woods. However, no evidence of The Hairy Man seems to exist aside from sightings and legends.Could he possibly be a sort of Sasquatch? Possibly just people seeing things? But all I know is that the people who live around that road have embraced the legend and every year, they hold a festival in the Hairy Man's honor."
