He and his girlfriend boarded the ICE train to Hamburg on Wednesday afternoon in Frankfurt/Main. During the train ride, both developed flu-like symptoms. However, it is unclear whether they have actually been infected with the Marburg virus, according to fire department spokesman Christian Wolter. The student had previously arrived by plane directly from Rwanda. There he had contact with a patient who the doctors later diagnosed as being infected with the Marburg virus.
