Ernest Introduces Morgan Wallen As “Morgan Waylon” At Bridgestone Arena

Everybody welcome to the stage, Morgan Waylon! The CMA Awards joke lives on during the Jelly Roll concert. Last night, Jelly Roll finished a leg of his Beautifully Broken Tour with a hometown show in Nashville's Bridgestone Arena. This is Jelly Roll's first time back at Bridgestone since 2022, and he made sure it was a show worth every attendee's penny, bringing out numerous guests. Jelly Roll's guests included Keith Urban, Snoop Dogg, and more. But that was just during Jelly Roll's set. Ernest was one of the show's supporting artists, and during his set, he brought out his good friend, Morgan Wallen. But given that Ernest knows how to throw around a joke here and there, he took Morgan Wallen's appearance on stage as the perfect opportunity to bring back up the hilarious mispronunciation of his last name. During the CMA Awards last week, Jeff Bridges announced the famed Entertainer of the Year Award, to which Wallen was the recipient. In a hilarious final moment of the awards show, Bridges mispronounced Morgan’s last name, calling him “Morgan Waylon.” We have always said we hope the CMA Awards return to what country real is, so this is probably the closest we’ll ever get to a Waylon reference on the CMA Awards. Although we should set the record straight, we are NOT comparing Morgan Wallen to Waylon Jennings. https://twitter.com/WhiskeyRiff/status/1859447040310210585?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1859447040310210585%7Ctwgr%5E05e634e43bfe6e443eca605ff0bfb5815b70cc01%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.whiskeyriff.com%2F2024%2F11%2F20%2Fjeff-bridges-mispronounces-morgan-wallens-name-while-announcing-cma-entertainer-of-the-year-and-morgans-not-even-there-to-accept-the-award%2F But, since Morgan Wallen was not at the awards show to accept his Entertainer of the Year trophy, Ernest decided to bring it back up last night at Bridgestone Arena. During his performance of "Flower Shops," he surprised the crowd with Morgan Wallen but announced him as Morgan Waylon. "Y'all give it up for my boy, Morgan Waylon!" Talk about making a funny moment even funnier. The crowd in Bridgestone was roaring with cheers, though. I'm honestly not sure how many people in the audience caught onto the mispronunciation. But for those of us who saw the clip from the comfort of our own homes, it was top-tier entertainment. Wallen gave the joke little attention as he stepped up to the microphone and began delivering lyrics. https://www.instagram.com/p/DC4ImKUxDtV/ Fans were cheering wildly with him on the stage, and after "Flower Shops," the two performed their duet "Cowgirls." Since the moment went viral on social media, many users have commented that Ernest's making this joke is disrespectful to Waylon Jennings. But Ernest does not care one lick, replying to the trolls with hilarious sarcastic remarks. I have a feeling that calling Morgan Wallen Morgan Waylon will not die down anytime soon. God bless Ernest and Jeff Bridges for this one. The only thing that would have made this night better is if Ernest changed the lyrics of "Cowgirls"  temporarily to: "Long live Morgan Waylon..."
