Jelly Roll & Snoop Dogg Debut New Tom Petty-Inspired Song, “Mary Jane’s Last Dance” In Nashville
Debuting a new one in front of his hometown crowd.
Last night, Jelly Roll threw quite a party at his Beautifully Broken Tour closing hometown show. While the tour is not entirely done, the U.S. leg of the tour concluded last night at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena. Given this was such a big show for Jelly Roll to close out a massive tour, performing in front of a packed hometown crowd, and with it being his first return to Bridgestone since 2022, he made sure to put on a show.
Some of the guests throughout the evening included Keith Urban, Morgan Wallen, and more. But one of the most shocking appearances was from the rap legend Snoop Dogg.

Before Snoop Dogg walked onto the stage, Jelly Roll fired up "Still D.R.E," noting that it is one of his favorite rap songs, but he could never sing the lyric solo:
"When my friend, Snoop Dogg, is in the building!”
With that, Snoop walked onto the stage and began performing the song. Once Snoop got comfortable on stage, he and Jelly Roll announced that they would perform their unreleased duet for the audience.
“I don't want to put you on the spot, but I know that you've got an album coming out real soon that was produced by the legendary Dr Dre.
What I'm not sure that these people know is that you gave me the honor of being a feature on that album...Snoop Dogg, I know this is a lot to ask of you, but can we debut our song here in my hometown right now?”
The "Get By" singer said to the packed arena.
Earlier this fall, Jelly Roll disclosed to fans that he would appear on Snoop Dogg's upcoming album Missionary, produced by his go-to collaborator, Dr. Dre. The record is slated to release on December 13th and has a star-studded guest list, including Jelly Roll. Jelly Roll spoke on the Bootleg Kev Podcast about how great it was to work with Snoop and Dr. Dre on the single, but at the time of the podcast, did not disclose much about the collaboration other than that it would appear on the forthcoming record.
"It was the most awesome session I ever did. I walked in was just like, the biggest warm hug... It was really fun... I had a moment where I was like, I belong in those rooms! (In my mind), I’m still the kid coming to the lunch table. I wanna prove that I deserve the table and I came in with that kind of attitude and it was really cool.”

Last night, fans got a preview of the single "Mary Jane's Last Dance," which tips its hat to the great Tom Petty. Snoop and Jelly Roll credit Tom Petty on the single as well, given that it includes the full chorus from the 1993 hit. During the track, Snoop Dogg raps about his love for marijuana, and then Jelly Roll sings the anthemic chorus. Since the chorus is very easily recognizable, Jelly Roll asked fans to help him, and the arena sang with him.
"Last dance with Mary Jane
One more time to kill the pain
I feel summer creepin' in and I'm tired of this town again..."
While I'm not typically a fan of rap meets country, I must admit it's a pretty catchy tune. I'm interested to hear the studio cut.
Check it out.
