Wyatt Flores Hilariously Asks DJ To Turn Off His Song: “Can You Play Anything Tyler Childers?”
Wyatt Flores doesn't want to hear his own music?
You hear about this kind of stuff all the time. Artists and musicians (or really anyone in media) have a job that requires them to record their own voice, and then they don't ever want to hear it themselves. They could have the greatest singing voice in the world, yet listening back on a recording can be embarrassing and torturous.
As the saying goes... you're your own biggest critic.
Flores has had one hell of a year in 2024. The 23-year-old released his debut album, Welcome To The Plains, back in August. And though it’s his first full-length studio project, the Oklahoma native has been on a meteoric rise in country music for quite some time. Flores has previously released Life Lessons and Half Life, and those were both phenomenal displays of the young singer-songwriter’s talent.
But despite all of the success, when Flores heard his own song come on at the bar in this video below, he decided that he was gonna hilariously tell the DJ to turn it off. With Wyatt's "Please Don't Go" playing off in the distance, a close-up camera angle catches the young country star saying:
"I'm gonna go tell them to shut the f*** up."
The person behind the camera then follows Wyatt through the Christmas decorated bar and towards the DJ, who had evidently cued up his hit song from 2022. Without any hesitation whatsoever, Flores walks up to the person in charge of the music and throws out this question:
"Hey is there anyway we can change the song?"
This is probably my favorite part of the clip, because the DJ clearly has no idea that the person asking him to turn off the song that's playing is actually the person behind the song itself. At first, the DJ was taken back a bit by someone inquiring about utilizing the "skip button." But he eventually came around, called Wyatt "dog" and asked him what he wanted to hear.
Flores thought about it for a bit, then hilariously responded by saying:
"Let's see... can you play anything by Tyler Childers?"
Always a good choice - though pressing play on Wyatt Flores isn't ever a bad thing either.
All in all, the self-deprecation present in this TikTok is world class. It's good to see that Wyatt can laugh at himself a bit, and I certainly hope that he doesn't feel this way about his own music. The video certainly makes it seem like Flores just thought it would be funny to go and request for his song to be turned off.
How much you want to bet that - if the DJ obliged to Wyatt's request - "White House Road" started playing moments after?

I'm sure there were a number of bar goers that ended up feeling shorted when the DJ stopped playing "Please Don't Go."
If you are one of those people, you can fortunately just press play on the video below - and hope that Wyatt Flores isn't within earshot to tell you to turn it off:
