Tom Hamilton says Aerosmith might do something in the future

Aerosmith recently announced their retirement from touring due to Steven Tyler's vocal injury and in an interview with Guitar World, the bassist Tom Hamilton said that the band might do something in the future but certainly won't be touring. Tom Hamilton says Aerosmith might do something in the future “I was surprised but not shocked when I got the news. When Steven fell, he hit his larynx on a railing and fractured it. I still can’t believe he finished the show. It’s not the first time he’s had an injury during a show and powered through it. I know how hard he worked on healing and working on getting ready to go on the road again – but it just wasn’t possible.” “It was a punch in the gut finding our touring days are over. Maybe someday we can do something again, but it won’t be a tour. I’ve been keeping busy playing in a band we’re calling Close Enemies. We’ve recorded a bunch of killer songs and we’re getting closer to deciding how we’re going to put it out. Can’t wait!” “My Aerosmith bandmates and I are still in reaction mode. It’s hard going online and seeing all the other bands out there, but I try to keep myself from dwelling on it and letting myself go to a dark place inside. It’s painful thinking about all the fans who were waiting to come see us. I’ll always be grateful to them for being there for us,” Tom Hamilton said. [embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lsw2Ma4rd8s&pp=ygUSc3dlZXQgZW1vdGlvbiAyMDIz[/embed] Read the complete Aerosmith statement about retiring from touring: “It was 1970 when a spark of inspiration became Aerosmith. Thanks to you, our Blue Army, that spark caught flame and has been burning for over five decades. Some of you have been with us since the beginning and all of you are the reason we made rock ‘n’ roll history.” “It has been the honor of our lives to have our music become part of yours. In every club, on every massive tour and at moments grand and private you have given us a place in the soundtrack of your lives.” “We’ve always wanted to blow your mind when performing. As you know, Steven’s voice is an instrument like no other. He has spent months tirelessly working on getting his voice to where it was before his injury. We’ve seen him struggling despite having the best medical team by his side. Sadly, it is clear, that a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible. We have made a heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary, decision – as a band of brothers – to retire from the touring stage.” They continued: “We are grateful beyond words for everyone who was pumped to get on the road with us one last time. Grateful to our expert crew, our incredible team and the thousands of talented people who’ve made our historic runs possible. A final thank you to you – the best fans on planet Earth. Play our music loud, now and always. Dream On. You’ve made our dreams come true.” “*For those who purchased their tickets through Ticketmaster, you will automatically be refunded – there is nothing further you need to do. For those who purchased via third-party resale sites such as SeatGeek, StubHub, VividSeats, etc. – please reach out to your point of purchase for more details,*” Aerosmith said. David Gilmour reveals which songs he won’t play anymore

After eight years without touring and nine without releasing a new record, the Pink Floyd guitarist and singer David Gilmour finally released his new album "Luck & Strange" and will tour to promote his new work. However, he noted that he won't be playing many Pink Floyd songs from the 70s and told Mojo which are the tracks we don't feel comfortable with anymore and he won't play. David Gilmour reveals which songs he won't play anymore “There are songs from the past that I no longer feel comfortable singing. I love 'Run Like Hell'. I loved the music I created for it, but all that (sings) ‘You’d better run, run, run…’ I now find that all rather, I don’t know… a bit terrifying and violent.” “'Another Brick In The Wall' is another one I shan’t be doing. I don’t think I’ve done that with my own band, but I certainly did it in the post-Roger Pink Floyd, against my better judgement. The same with 'Money'. I won’t be doing that. I’m going to be sticking with the ones that are essentially my music, and I feel some ownership of. 'Comfortably Numb', 'Wish You Were Here', 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond', maybe…” David Gilmour said. His touring setlist [embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AK77w45NdLY&pp=ygUWZGF2aWQgZ2lsbW91ciBicmlnaHRvbg%3D%3D[/embed] His first full show in eight years happened at the Brighton Centre in Brighton, England last September 21. Jon Anderson explains why he doesn’t expect to rejoin YES

The legendary vocalist Jon Anderson co-founded the influential Progressive Rock band YES back in 1968 and was part of the group until 2008 when, according to him, the band decided to replace him. In an interview with Classic Rock, the singer said that at the time he was hospitalized with "respiratory failure following a severe asthma attack". Then the band decided to replace him with the Canadian singer Benoît David. Jon Anderson explains why he doesn't expect to rejoin YES “I didn’t leave the band, they got a new singer. So I said to my wife Jane, I’m going to go onstage with my guitar and tell stories, and we’re going to travel the world together.’ And we did that for two years. It was unbelievable. Yes got a singer and carried on going that way, and it’s never been the same.” “No (Steve Howe didn't call me). Not right now. I actually contacted him and got very little back, But think of the song 'Still A Friend Of Mine' (from True). So many people I’ve met, it didn’t quite work out, and eventually you say, ‘Okay, I’ve got to move on, you’ve got to move on, do your own thing, it’s okay. But you’re still a friend of mine because we went through so much together at a certain time.’ Me and Steve, we wrote 'Close To The Edge'.” The last time that Anderson performed with YES was during their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction back in 2017. The current line-up of the band doesn't have any original members, but the classic member Steve Howe (Guitar) and the Prog Rock veteran Geoff Downes (Keyboards). They are accompanied by Billy Sherwood (Bass), Jon Davidson (Vocals) and Jay Schellen (Drums). The group released four studio albums after they fired Jon Anderson in 2008. They are: "Fly From Here" (2011), "Heaven & Earth" (2014), "The Quest" (2021) and "Mirror to the Sky" (2023). Since then Anderson released three studio albums: "Survival & Other Stories" (2011), "1000 Hands: Chapter One" (2019) and "True" (2024). Who are Kerry King’s two favorite singers of all time

Born in Los Angeles, California back in 1964, Kerry King started his musical career in 1981, co-founding Slayer alongside Tom Araya, Jeff Hanneman and Dave Lombardo. They became one of the most influential Thrash Metal bands of all time, being a huge inspiration, especially for extreme Metal groups. King had the chance to meet and see many incredible vocalists over the decades and he revealed once Who are his two favorite singers of all time. Who are Kerry King's two favorite singers of all time The Slayer guitarist revealed in an interview with 107.7 The Bone (Transcribed by Ultimate Guitar) that his favorite singer of all time always was and it will always be the Judas Priest vocalist Rob Halford. On the second position, although they were good friends and he always loves him, it's Ronnie James Dio. "Probably hearing Priest on the radio (Was what got me into Metal). We had two rock stations back then, and I heard 'Breaking The Law', 'Living After Midnight', or something on 'British Steel'. I didn't know who Judas Priest was at that point in my life, believe it or not. And I'm like, 'Cool, I like the singer, I like there's two guitars.' What you did back then, you'd go buy all the old records, and that's when I found ('Killing Machine'), 'Stained Class', and 'Sad Wings (of Destiny)'." Kerry King continued: "The first time I was able to see Priest was on the 'Point of Entry' (tour). The whole time before this, Halford is in his leather and studs and everything, and that fucking tour shows up in a fucking jean sweatsedo. A jean jacket, and denim jeans. I'm like, 'Oh, this guy, come on!' It was just a letdown for me, from all the photos you've seen back then in magazines." "But yeah, Priest was killer, and he's my favorite singer since the dawn of time. He's always my number one. That's tough to say, being a friend of Ronnie James Dio, but Dio has always been my number two. Sorry, bro," Kerry King said. Tony Iommi’s opinion on Deep Purple

Tony Iommi’s opinion on Deep Purple

Hard Rock wouldn't have been the same without British bands like Deep Purple and Heavy Metal wouldn't exist as we know if it wasn't Black Sabbath. So those were two really important bands, which had two fantastic guitar heroes: Tony Iommi and Ritchie Blackmore. Both of them were really crucial for the evolution of Heavy Rock and continue to inspire countless bands all over the world. Over the decades, the "Riffmaster", Tony Iommi talked about many bands, including Deep Purple, giving his opinion on them. So Rock and Roll Garage selected what he said about them. What is Tony Iommi's opinion on Deep Purple Like most artists from that era, Tony Iommi loves Deep Purple and worked with many musicians who were previously part of the band or Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow. One of them was obviously, the vocalist Ian Gillan, who recorded with Sabbath the album "Born Again", released in 1983. In an interview with Classic Rock magazine in 2024, Iommi revealed that his favorite Deep Purple song was probably "Speed King". The track was from their groundbreaking 1970 album "Deep Purple In Rock". “I always liked Deep Purple, and my favorite album of theirs is In Rock. It has one classic song after another. They always used to come up with great riffs. Speed King is hard to beat. It’s a great, energetic song that shows every member of the band doing what they did best. (Ian) Gillan’s vocals and the keyboards of Jon Lord... They were such great musicians,” Tony Iommi said. Black Sabbath used to play "Smoke on The Water" when touring with Gillan [embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xGti9gUT6h4&feature=youtu.be[/embed] Curiously, when Ian Gillan joined Black Sabbath in the 80s and toured with the band. They used to play Deep Purple's most famous song "Smoke on The Water" live. Talking with Steve Newton in 1984, Iommi said he always liked Purple and Gillan and explained why they were performing that famous Purple track. "Well, it’s really probably one of Ian’s more known ones, you know. As far as him being associated with what he’d done before. And he wrote the song anyway, so. (...) I try and play it more like it was done originally. I mean, I obviously do put me own bits in. But I try and keep it more to how it was done," Tony Iommi said. "Born Again" was the final Black Sabbath album with the drummer Bill Ward and the only one with Gillan. The vocalist left the band to reunite with Deep Purple in 1984, recording their comeback album "Perfect Strangers". Gillan would leave the band again in the 90s but he rejoined them after the album "Slaves and Masters" (1990), which was recorded with Joe Lynn Turner. He's been in the band ever since. Tony Iommi recruited many artists who had previously worked with Blackmore [embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2vxQApPg40&pp=ygUOb3V0IG9mbSB5IG1pbmQ%3D[/embed] Besides Gillan, there are many other artists who previously worked with Blackmore and were later recruited by Iommi to join Sabbath. Some of them are the drummer Cozy Powell, singer/bassist Glenn Hughes, singer Ronnie James Dio, bassist Bob Daisley and drummer Bobby Rondinelli. So it's easy to see that he has the same view as Blackmore when choosing the kind of musicians he wants to work with. Gillan and Iommi would work together again in the supergroup WhoCares. The band was formed in 2011 by them alongside Jon Lord, Jason Newsted, Nicko McBrain and Mikko "Linde" Lindström. It was a charity project to raise money to rebuild a music school in Gyumri, Armenia, after the destruction of the city in the 1988 earthquake. The post Tony Iommi’s opinion on Deep Purple appeared first on Rock And Roll Garage.
