Hundreds of New Mysterious Nazca Glyphs Discovered

In southern Peru’s desert, the Nazca glyphs have long baffled archaeologists. These massive, ancient symbols, etched into the ground hundreds of years ago, can only be fully seen from the sky. Since their discovery in the 1940s, around 430 glyphs have been identified across the vast Nazca Pampa. Recently, a team led by Masato Sakai from Yamagata University in Japan used drones and AI to uncover 303 new glyphs in just six months, nearly doubling the known number. Some of the glyphs, interpreted as humanoid, or humans wearing headdresses. (Credit: Sakai et al., PNAS, 2024) “The reason why the purpose of the geoglyphs’ creation remained unknown for so long is that previous researchers lacked basic information about the distribution and types of geoglyphs,” Sakai explained. By clarifying the distribution with advanced technology, they now believe these symbols served a sacred purpose tied to pilgrimages to Cahuachi, a ceremonial center of the Nazca culture. Uncovering these glyphs has been a challenge, as they were created between 500 BCE and 500 CE and have been weathered by time. The immense size of the Nazca Pampa—400 square kilometers—has also hindered traditional fieldwork. Since 2004, Sakai has relied on remote sensing, discovering 318 glyphs before the latest findings. By collaborating with the IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center, the team developed an AI algorithm to detect faint glyphs from drone images. Of the 303 new discoveries, 178 were identified by AI, showcasing its potential to assist in archaeological research. These newly found glyphs are of the relief type, smaller and harder to spot than the line-type glyphs. Relief-type glyphs often depict humans and animals, while the larger line-type glyphs depict wild creatures. The team believes the placement and size of the glyphs provide clues to their use, especially in relation to Cahuachi and other ceremonial centers. Sakai’s next goal is to decipher the information encoded in these ancient symbols. The post Hundreds of New Mysterious Nazca Glyphs Discovered appeared first on Anomalien.com.

Logitech has created a Stream Deck for Photoshop and Premiere Pro

Image: Logitech After acquiring Steam Deck rival Loupedeck last year, Logitech is launching a $199.99 MX Creative Console that’s designed to control Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Pro. The control panel includes a Stream Deck-like keypad and a dialpad that has an analog dial and plenty of buttons to speed up creative tasks. Logitech has created custom plugins for Adobe apps like Photoshop, Lightroom Classic, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition, and Illustrator for its MX Creative Console. In Premiere Pro you can use the dial to scrub through a timeline, and there are four buttons around the dial to activate functions like undo. There’s also a roller for navigation, allowing you to easily adjust the level of zoom on a Premiere Pro timeline for more... Continue reading…

Sweden has gone from a beautiful, safe, high IQ country, to a low IQ violent 3th world dump in less than 40 years. Sweden is a show case of how well and fast the left can do what it does best.

Soon one million illiterates in Sweden
Published 22 September 2024 at 17.23
Domestic. From autumn 2028, compulsory school will be ten years old and the preschool class will become year one, the government announces. The background is that the number of illiterate people is soaring and is expected to exceed 800,000 people this winter.

According to the latest survey by Statistics Sweden, around 780,000 people between the ages of 16 and 65 were illiterate in Sweden, but the number is increasing rapidly.
When the new figures are released this winter, analysts expect the figure to rise above 800,000 and by the end of the decade, more than a million of Sweden's inhabitants could be illiterate.
‘If this trend continues, we risk having a whole generation of young people who will in practice be functionally illiterate,’ said Education Minister Johan Pehrson (L) and Schools Minister Lotta Edholm (L) in a debate article this week.
However, the ministers do not mention that the main cause of the rampant illiteracy is the ongoing mass immigration of illiterate adults from the third world, which the government is doing nothing about.
Instead, the government continues to hand out 100,000 residence permits a year, about as much as the Reinfeldt government, as Fria Tider reported in detail last summer.
- ‘Every month we get 8-10 students who are illiterate,’ Rita Sommarkrans, SFI teacher in Västerås, said in an interview with SVT this spring .
According to SVT, being illiterate in Sweden is difficult because you cannot pay bills, shop, access information or book a doctor's appointment . However, SVT reports that miracles happen at SFI.
- I didn't know the alphabet, but now I can read and write, claims an Arabic illiterate on SVT during a visit to SFI in Västerås.

Israeli strikes kill 492 in Lebanon’s deadliest day of conflict since 2006

Israeli strikes Monday on Lebanon killed more than 490 people, including more than 90 women and children, Lebanese authorities said, in the deadliest barrage since the 2006 Israel-Hezbollah war. The Israeli military warned residents in southern and eastern Lebanon to evacuate ahead of its widening air campaign against Hezbollah. Thousands of Lebanese fled the south, and the main highway out of the southern port city of Sidon was jammed with cars heading toward Beirut in the biggest...

Chappell Roan’s ‘Both Sides’ Non-Endorsement Divides the Internet

Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign has received the endorsements of several popstars—most recently, Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish threw their support behind the Vice President and Democratic nominee—but one particular chart-topper, whose feminist music and “Midwest Princess” aesthetic the meme-embracing Harris campaign has enthusiastically co-opted, has said she won’t be among them. Chappell Roan, the 26-year-old “Good Luck, Babe!” singer from Missouri, told the Guardian in an interview...
