See the videos and setlist of the first Slayer reunion show

The legendary Thrash Metal band Slayer came to an end back in 2019 after their farewell tour but a few months ago the band announced they were reuniting for a few special shows in festivals. Last September 22 their first show in five years happened at the Riot Fest in Chicago, IL. The band performed classic songs like "South of Heaven", "Seasons in the Abyss", "Raining Blood" and "Angel of Death". Songs from their final album like "Repentless" were also part of o the setlist and the track "Reborn", from the 1986 album "Reign in Blood", which was not performed live by the group since 2014. Was also part of the set the track "213" from their 1994 album "Divine Intervention. That song wasn't played live by Slayer for more than 20 years, since 1998. The surprising announcement came a few weeks after the guitarist Kerry King said that he didn’t speak to Araya since the band came to an end. But it doesn’t seem like Slayer will tour around the world at least this year since Kerry King now has a solo band and has many scheduled tour dates in 2024. Alongside Tom Araya (Bass and vocals) and Kerry King (Guitar), the final members of the band Paul Bostaph (Drums) and Gary Holt (Guitar) are also back for these shows. Uriah Heep announces farewell tour

The legendary British band Uriah Heep announced their farewell tour after almost six decades on the road. The group was formed back in 1969 in London, England. Over the years they had many line-up changes and nowadays the only original member is the guitarist Mick Box. In a video posted on the band's social media, Mick talked about the farewell tour. Mick Box said about the Uriah Heep farewell tour “Who can believe next year is 55 years since the band started, and that's just so amazing. I know many of you have been with us since the beginning, and we do thank you for that. It means the world to us. Unfortunately, we have made the decision to wind down touring the whole world next year under the title of 'Magician's Farewell'. In fact, The Magician's Farewell.” "Over the next two to three years, we intend to play as many places as possible and see you all for the one last time. On behalf of the band and myself, I wanna thank you all for the continued support you have always given us. It means the world to us, and it means so much to us, and I just wanna thank you for that,” Mick Box said. The tour dates were still not announced and their only scheduled show so far will happen next December 1 in Porthcawl in the United Kingdom. [embed]https://www.facebook.com/uriahheepofficial/videos/2512170672505691/?__cft__[/embed] During the band's career they released 25 studio albums and 20 live records. The most recent one is "Chaos & Colour". Their current line-up has Mick Box (Guitar - Since 1969), Phil Lanzon (Keyboards - Since 1986), Bernie Shaw (Vocals - Since 1986), Russell Gilbrook (Drums - Since 2007) and Dave Rimmer (Bass - Since 2013). Some of their most famous tracks are "Lady In Black", "Easy Livin'", "Stealin'" and "The Wizard". All tracks were recorded when the late David Byron was the band's vocalist. The post Uriah Heep announces farewell tour appeared first on Rock And Roll Garage.

Dave Navarro hints that Jane’s Addiction won’t reunite anymore

The Jane's Addiction reunion was sadly cut short this month after the vocalist Perry Farrell assaulted the guitarist Dave Navarro on stage during a concert in Boston. The singer later on apologized for his behavior and revealed he would seek professional help. But on an Instagram post, Navarro hinted that the band won't reunite anymore because he said that the fans won't hear their new single "True Love" being played live. Dave Navarro hints that Jane's Addiction won't reunite anymore "I tried to put the whole song up and it got blocked! Here is what the original caption read: What’s the point of a teaser that makes you search another platform to hear an entire song? Chasing money that’s the point." "Once again, fuck that, here is the new Jane’s song, True Love, in it’s entirety. I am proud of the work we did on this song but I am equally saddened by the fact that you will likely never hear it live. I’d also like to publicly apologize to our crew, @crawlersband and their crew and to @loveandrocketsofficial and their crew." Thanks for being our travel companions for as long as you did. I am gutted that things ended this way and that so many jobs were lost as a result. May all of our hearts mend together," Dave Navarro said. The track was written by Farrell, Navarro, Perkins and Josh Klinghoffer. The band recently released a statement talking about their hiatus: “To all the fans, the band have made the difficult decision to take some time away as a group. As such, they will be canceling the remainder of the tour. Refunds for the canceled dates will be issued at your point of purchase – or if you purchased from a third-party resale site like StubHub, SeatGeek, etc, please reach out to them directly. Thank you,” the band said. [embed]https://www.instagram.com/p/DAJrvbbJ-eL/[/embed]The post Dave Navarro hints that Jane’s Addiction won’t reunite anymore appeared first on Rock And Roll Garage.

Journey’s vocalist offers to leave if fans want

Filipino vocalist Arnel Pineda has been the frontman of Journey since 2007, after being discovered through a YouTube video of his Journey tribute band. His voice is really similar to Steve Perry's, so it was something that really impressed many fans and that's why he has been with the band for so long. But last September 15, he was criticized for his performance on the Brazilian festival Rock in Rio, in Rio de Janeiro. In a post on his Instagram page a few days ago, the musician addressed his performance and said that if enough fans told him to go on the social network, he would leave the group. Arnel said: “No one more than me feels so devastated about this... it’s amazing how 1 thousand right things you have done will be forgotten just because of this. Mentally and emotionally, I’ve suffered already, and I’m still sufferring..but I’ll be ok. So, here's the deal…I am offering you a chance (especially those who never liked me from the beginning) to text GO or STAY." He continued: "If GO reaches 1million... I’m stepping out for good. God bless all of you and thank you once again to all of the fans who believed in me since day 1,” Arnel Pineda said. But Journey already continued their tour and after the Rock in Rio show, they already played in Santiago, Chile and Pasadena, California. The band has an ongoing legal battle between Neal Schon and Jonathan Cain, who are battling in court over the band's finances. The current Journey line-up has Neal Schon (Guitar – Original member), Jonathan Cain (Keyboards, piano – Since 1980), Deen Castronovo (Drums – Since 2021), Arnel Pineda (Vocals – Since 2007), Jason Derlatka (Keyboards – Since 2019) and Todd Jensen (Bass – Since 2021). The band still has a few tour dates scheduled in October and December. Gene Simmons’ opinion on Grateful Dead

Gene Simmons’ opinion on Grateful Dead

The American Rock and Roll scene has always been vast, with countless bands creating unique sounds. There were groups like Kiss, led by Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, which would not only make good Hard Rock music but would also pay attention to the theatrical side of their shows. On the other hand there were bands like the Grateful Dead, for example, that were less business driven and more focused on improvising during their live shows, giving a unique experience to fans. Over the decades, Kiss' bassist, singer and songwriter Gene Simmons talked about many groups, one of them being the Grateful Dead. Gene Simmons' opinion on Grateful Dead Kiss was always a really business focused band and Simmons, especially, always had on his mind things that the group had to do to not only become a successful band in music, but really a business organization with many other forms of income. They are really an example of how a band can also make a lot of money with merchandising. So it was expected that bands like the Grateful Dead would not really be among Simmons' favorites. He already said in the past that the group was boring to watch live. That's what he reaffirmed in an interview with Forbes, saying Jerry Garcia was limited as a guitarist. Also that the Dead actually created a culture around them because the fans would smoke weed during the shows. Simmons believes Jerry Garcia was limited as a guitarist He explained that if you are a writer, an actor or part of a band, you are really fortunate if a "culture" is created around your work. He gave as examples the writers of Harry Potter and Lord of The Rings, because they created a story, wrote the books and then it wasn't just a story anymore. A big culture was created around their work and people started to discuss the theme and dress like the characters. "The Grateful Dead was never my favorite band. If you play an instrument, you know that Jerry Garcia had a limited range in his playing ability. That doesn't mean that you didn't like it or that you didn't like the song, but don't kid yourself, the reason The Dead—in America, not in South America or Europe—The Dead used to fill stadiums full of people [...] What do you do when you go to Dead concerts? What's the first thing that comes into your mind?" Gene Simmons believes The Grateful Dead became successful because the fans were high during the shows [embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzvk0fWtCs0&pp=ygUbZ3JhdGVmdWwgZGVhZCB0b3VjaCBvZiBncmV5[/embed] He then explained that the reason why the Grateful Dead was never part of his "culture", was because he doesn't use drugs. He said that in a concert where everyone is high, you don't pay attention to the music and then compared their shows like the "gathering of a tribe". Because they were able to, not planning it, to create a culture about the band, but not for the music, like Taylor Swift did. "It was about not dressing up, not being like rock stars and having a guy named Garcia. There were not many Hispanic guitar players, Santana and then you have to think about it. They were anti. Call it what it was, rock was a white man's thing. Rap is a black man's thing. Country & Western, up until recently, was almost predominantly a white cultural thing." "Wearing the cowboy hat has nothing to do with roping cattle or being in Texas. It's a culture. You're fortunate if you can create a culture that's above the music that you're doing and that's the most impressive thing about The Dead, that they were able to somehow create a culture that you are a part of." "There's music that you really are impressed with, but there's no connection to the heart. It's just, “Gee, I like that song.” I'm sure you could name a few Foreigner songs, but there's no emotional connection and gathering. When you have a gathering of the tribe, then you've got something extraordinary and it's rare, don’t kid yourself. Star Wars, Star Trek, Harry Potter, James Bond—those are cultures. They're not just characters. For bands, it’s The Dead, and not many more. KISS? Yeah! It ain’t just a band, it’s a brand!" Gene Simmons said. The post Gene Simmons’ opinion on Grateful Dead appeared first on Rock And Roll Garage.

FBI statistics find 3 percent drop in violent crime

The latest FBI crime statistics show a 3 percent drop in violent crime across the country last year, including a significant drop in the number of homicides. Murder and non-negligent manslaughter dropped 11.6 percent – the largest such drop in decades, according to the FBI. The drop in reported crimes comes as former President Trump and GOP candidates across the country have seized on crime as a campaign issue, repeatedly suggesting violent crime has surged. But Monday’s figures show a steady...

Reported crime rate fell in 2023, FBI says

The rate of reported crimes dipped in 2023, the FBI said Monday, with a 3% drop in the number of violent crimes reported to police and a 2.4% drop in property crimes. Even hate crimes fell, despite the tension in the Middle East. Motor vehicle thefts were up, and robbery reports remained roughly the same from 2022 to 2023. But other major categories of crime were all down, with reported murders dropping nearly 12% and the number of reported rapes down more than 9%. The data is an estimate based...

2023 Crime Stats from FBI just Released -- Murder Rate Dropped Nearly 12% from 2022 to 5.8 per 100k!

U.S. property crime trends for the same period likewise saw an overall decrease of 2.4% relative to 2022, with burglaries down 7.6% and larcenies down 4.4%. Motor vehicle thefts OTOH were up by a whopping 12.6%. Interestingly, even hate crime incidents showed a marginal drop of 0.6% in 2023 relative to 2022. So the bogus Republican talking point about crime rates exploding during the Biden Administration is, not surprisingly, just so much malarky — while they did indeed increase dramatically...
