Even with Oprah as Moderator and a Friendly Crowd, Kamala Harris Flopped Hard at Michigan Town Hall

If dishonesty and mediocrity together could assume human form, the result would look and sound like Vice President Kamala Harris. At a town hall in Farmington Hills, Michigan, on Thursday, moderated by billionaire media mogul and Harris supporter Oprah Winfrey, the vice president treated audience members, viewers and listeners to...

This 5th Grade Teacher Eats Lunch In the Cafeteria Every Day

In the small town of Paw Paw, Michigan, this fifth-grade teacher eats lunch in the cafeteria every day with his students. He's turned lunchtime into a special moment of connection and community. Meet Dan Shutes, who's been doing this for the last eight years. His routine has become a cherished tradition at his school. He brings his homemade lunch to the cafeteria every day and joins his fifth-grade students. RELATED: Kids Start Cheering During Classroom Story Time As Teacher Is Surprised with Marriage Proposal Dan Started Eating With His Students Eight Years Ago Dan started this tradition eight years ago, quickly becoming a beloved part of his day. "I didn't expect a bunch of kids to say, ‘Hey, can you eat lunch with me tomorrow?'" Dan shared. "But that's how it's been." Now, you can find him in the lunchroom up to four times a week, mingling with his students and making the most of these precious moments. For Dan, lunchtime is more than just taking a break when he could catch up on emails, create lesson plans, and grade papers. He sees it as an opportunity to connect with his students on a personal level. "It's a priority for me," he said. "I think it's an easy way to get to know your students beyond just names and test scores." By sitting with his students, he can understand them better, build trust, and make his classroom a welcoming place. He gets to know them, what they like to do, what they don't like about school, and much more. RELATED: Spelling Test Prank is Epically Pulled Off by Elementary School Teacher Dan Moves From Table to Table During lunch, Dan moves from table to table, ensuring he spends time with several students, not just the kids in his class because it makes them feel seen and heard. "Sometimes, students from other classes that I don't actually teach will ask if they can sit with me," he commented. "I try to find time to do that too. It's nice to connect with kids who aren't in my classes but who I see every morning as they walk down the hallway." Dan's dedication has not only touched the lives of his students but also inspired teachers far beyond his hometown. He's shared his story on social media, and teachers from other states and even worldwide have been inspired by his act of kindness through spending free time at lunch with students. Dan Has Created a Lasting Impact Dan's simple yet profound act of caring and sharing lunch with his students has created a lasting impact. It's a reminder of the difference that a little extra time and attention can make in a child's life. In the heart of his school, Dan has turned lunchtime into a powerful tool for connection and encouragement, and his story continues to inspire others to make their own small, meaningful changes in the classroom. Judge Shot And Killed Inside Courthouse, Sheriff Arrested

According to Kentucky State Police, a local sheriff allegedly shot and killed a district judge inside a courthouse on Thursday. The shooting reportedly occurred in the Letcher County Courthouse. “Several law enforcement agencies and emergency medical services responded to the scene and located District Judge Kevin Mullins, 54, with multiple gunshot wounds,” WKYT reports. “Multiple emergency crews and authorities are currently on the scene in Whitesburg, Kentucky, after Sheriff Mickey Stines was arrested in connection with a shooting at the Letcher County Courthouse. Stines is accused of fatally shooting District Judge Kevin Mullins in his office near the District Courtroom,” Rawsalerts wrote. “Officials have confirmed that the judge has died, though it remains unclear if anyone else was injured during the incident. The courthouse had been placed on lockdown but since lifted, and an investigation is underway as authorities work to determine the motive behind the shooting,” the post added. #BREAKING: A sheriff has been arrested after shooting at a judge at county courthouse with a fatality #Whitesburg | #Kentucky Multiple emergency crews and authorities are currently on the scene in Whitesburg, Kentucky, after Sheriff Mickey Stines was arrested in… pic.twitter.com/rQ3oq9SVO0 — R A W S A L E R T S (@rawsalerts) September 19, 2024 WKYT reports: Mullins was pronounced dead on scene by the Letcher County Coroner’s Office. KSP’s preliminary investigation indicates that Letcher County Sheriff Shawn Mickey Stines, 43, shot Mullins following an argument inside the courthouse. They say Stines was taken into custody at the scene without incident. Stines has been charged with one count of first-degree murder. The investigation remains ongoing. “Sadly, I have been informed that a district judge in Letcher County was shot and killed in his chambers this afternoon. There is far too much violence in this world, and I pray there is a path to a better tomorrow,” Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear said. Sadly, I have been informed that a district judge in Letcher County was shot and killed in his chambers this afternoon. There is far too much violence in this world, and I pray there is a path to a better tomorrow. ^AB — Governor Andy Beshear (@GovAndyBeshear) September 19, 2024 “Police did not reveal a motive or the nature of the argument that led to the shooting,” CBS News noted. “We know that it was an argument between the two that led up, but what exactly transpired prior to the shots being fired, that’s still things that we’re trying to get answers to,” Kentucky State Police spokesman Matt Gayheart said. The Mountain Eagle, a local newspaper, noted: Stines allegedly walked into the judge’s outer office, told court employees and others gathered there that he needed to speak with Mullins alone. The two then went into the inner office, closed the door and those outside heard shots. Stines walked out with his hands up and surrendered to police. Court employees were on the sidewalk outside the courthouse in shock following the shooting. Stines was handcuffed in the foyer of the courthouse. Officials expected the investigation to continue for several more hours. Although the motive remains unclear, a 2022 lawsuit may shed some light as the investigation continues. “Stines was cited as a defendant in a 2022 lawsuit against one of his deputies, accusing the deputy of offering ‘favorable treatment’ to a plaintiff if she ‘provided him with sexual favors,’ according to a criminal complaint obtained by NBC News,” TODAY noted. TONS of unsourced info online re: the Letcher County sheriff who killed a federal judge in Whitesburg, Kentucky today. One thing we do know: Sheriff Mickey Stines is named in a case claiming he knew about his cops raping women for favors. He was scheduled for a depo 3 days ago pic.twitter.com/skO4CwXCJL — Kyle Vass (@WilliamKyleVass) September 20, 2024 TODAY reports: The deputy took the woman “into District Judge Mullins’ chambers, telling Plaintiff that he wanted to meet her there because there were no cameras,” the complaint stated. Stines was accused of not properly training the deputy, who was later fired. Stines was scheduled to testify in a deposition on Monday, according to court documents. Kevin Mullins, the district judge who was gunned down today in Kentucky today by Letcher County Sheriff Mickey Stines, was named as someone who potentially had discoverable information in a case where Stines' department is accused of coercing women into sex for favors. https://t.co/zRR5IvAYSs — Kyle Vass (@WilliamKyleVass) September 20, 2024 Per Daily Mail: The lawsuit claims Sheriff Stines did not ‘reasonably respond’ to reports or suspicions about the sexual abuse and had a ‘deliberate indifference in failing to adequately train and supervise’ Fields, the New York Times reports. It is unclear from the court documents whether Mullins was aware of the sexual abuse in his office at the time or whether he was involved in any wrongdoing, but the court documents do list him as someone with information in the case. It is also unclear whether the sexual abuse case may have been a motive in the shooting on Thursday, when Stines allegedly walked into Mullins’ chambers and told staff he needed to speak to the judge alone. He and Mullins then entered the judge’s inner office, closed the door and those outside heard a number of gunshots, according to The Mountain Eagle. Stines then walked out with his hands raised and surrendered to officers, who placed him in handcuffs at around 3pm as Kentucky State Police officers found Mullins, 54, with multiple gunshot wounds and pronounced him dead at the scene. The sheriff is now facing first-degree murder charges, and is said to be cooperating with State Police investigating the incident, the New York Times report. WATCH:

Republican Governor Announces Over 450,000 Ineligible Voters Purged From Voter Rolls

Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt, a Republican, announced “over 453,000 voter registrations have been removed” from voter rolls since 2021. “Today, Governor Kevin Stitt and state election officials provided an update on the ongoing efforts to maintain Oklahoma’s status as a national leader in election integrity. As part of Oklahoma’s routine voter list maintenance as required by law, officials announced over 453,000 voter registrations have been removed, including ineligible voters such as convicted felons and deceased voters, since 2021,” Stitt’s office said in a press release on Wednesday. “Voting is our most sacred duty as Americans— and every Oklahoman wants to know their vote is securely cast and properly counted,” Stitt said. “The State Election Board and the Secretary of State’s office continue to go above and beyond in their responsibility to ensure only eligible Oklahomans can vote in our elections. Their progress reassures me we will continue to lead the nation in election integrity efforts,” he added. Since January 1, 2021, Oklahoma election officials have removed 97,065 deceased voters, 143,682 voters who moved out-of-state, 5,607 felons, 14,993 duplicate registrations, and 194,962 inactive voters who were canceled during the address verification process,” the press release added. In Oklahoma, every eligible citizen will have their vote counted and their voice heard,” he added. Stitt’s office: In November 2023, Governor Stitt formed the Campaign Finance and Election Threats Task Force to rigorously assess the electoral process, scrutinize foreign investment in campaigns, and ensure Oklahoma elections are the safest in the nation. The task force made recommendations, some of which have been adopted into law and procedure, such as banning ranked choice voting and mandating post-election audits. Citing numerous successful audits, the task force concluded that Oklahoma’s electoral process is one of the strongest in the nation. “Oklahoma has a long tradition of doing elections right,” said Secretary of the State Election Board Paul Ziriax. “Recounts and post-election audits have consistently proven the accuracy of Oklahoma’s voting system, and our laws and procedures are designed to ensure the integrity and security of our elections.” Oklahoma Election Fast Facts: Oklahoma continues the tradition of using hand-marked paper ballots which are counted by an e-scan tabulator. The e-scan vote tabulators do not have the capability to connect to the internet. Election officials work closely with Oklahoma Cyber Command to protect our election system from would-be attackers. During a recount or post-election audit, election results are confirmed by hand-counting paper ballots. The State and County Election Boards are bipartisan. In 2020, Governor Stitt signed SB 1779 to outlaw the practice of “ballot harvesting” and create new criminal penalties for violators. Oklahoma voter ID laws require proof of identity for every voter, regardless of whether you’re voting early, absentee, or in-person. Only United States citizens who are residents of Oklahoma may register to vote and state law explicitly prohibits noncitizens from accessing voter registration services. Poll watchers are commissioned by a candidate or the chair of a recognized political party to observe voting devices before and after the polls close. Polling places across Oklahoma are staffed by volunteers and voters just like you. Learn more about becoming a poll worker HERE.
