Reid Spreads ProPublica's Fake News About Pro-Life Laws Killing Women

ProPublica has taken a break from generating fake controversies about Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas in order to start generating fake controversies about pro-life laws. Recently, the outlet highlighted Georgian women Candy Miller and Amber Nicole Thurman, who they claimed died as a result of the state’s pro-life laws, despite there being no reason for such a conclusion. On Wednesday, MSNBC’s Joy Reid repeated the claims on The ReidOut. Reid began the segment by introducing a trio of clips, “When the [chairman of the board of the Federalist Society] Leonard Leo Six on the Supreme Court decided to rip away constitutional freedoms from millions of women across this country, many warned of what would happen.” The montage showed former Sen. Barbara Boxer, former North Carolina Senate candidate Cheri Beasley, and Rep. Barbara Lee warning women will die if abortion is restricted or banned.     On the other side of the clips, Reid claimed to be vindicated, “Republicans treated those warnings with the same seriousness with which they treat most women's issues. Which isn't much. Republican men from Trump down to governors to state legislatures assured us they were protecting life and that these Trump abortion bans would protect the mother's life if it was ever in danger.” Reid first highlighted Miller’s story, “Miller, who had lupus, diabetes, and hypertension, was warned that having another baby could kill her. But she didn't have many options because she lived in Georgia. A state that implemented a 6-week abortion ban, passed by the Republican majority state legislature and signed by Brian Kemp.” She recalled how, “Miller tried to manage her own abortion at home and wound up dying because she was more afraid of seeking help than of what would happen if she didn't. Her son told the coroner that she was terrified of going to a doctor due to the current legislation on pregnancies and abortions.” In the case of Thurman, “She was just getting on her feet, heading to nursing school, when she found out she was pregnant with twins. Because Georgia had just passed its 6-week ban and she was nine weeks pregnant, she decided to drive to North Carolina for a surgical abortion, but missed her appointment. She opted for a self-managed abortion instead.” Reid continued, “A few days after taking her last pill, she vomited blood and passed out. She was rushed to the hospital, where she was clearly developing sepsis. Doctors left her for 17 hours without the urgent procedure she needed: a D&C. The medical staff watched as her blood pressure dropped. Her organs failed and she was finally wheeled into surgery where they performed that D&C but it was too late. Her heart stopped... Like Candy Miller, Amber Nicole Thurman's case was reviewed and deemed preventable.” ProPublica claimed a D&C would have been a felony, but Mediaite’s Isaac Schorr pointed out that not only is that wrong, but even ProPublica undermined its own story, “It’s not until you’re close to sixty paragraphs in that the outlet admits to this absolutely critical fact: ‘It is not clear from the records available why doctors waited to provide a D&C to Thurman, though the summary report shows they discussed the procedure at least twice in the hours before they finally did.’” As for Miller’s case, Schorr again highlights the problem, “Like Thurman, Miller used abortion pills to seek to terminate her pregnancy. And like Thurman, the pills did not work as intended, failing to expel all of the dead fetus.” At that point the fetus was already dead, so removing it would not constitute an abortion, “ProPublica again erroneously states that Georgia had made a felony out of the dilation and curettage procedure, but Miller was legally entitled to seek such treatment.” As it turns out, conservatives were right and Reid, Boxer, Beasley, and Lee were wrong. Here is a transcript for the September 18 show: MSNBC The ReidOut 9/18/2024 7:47 PM ET JOY REID: When the Leonard Leo Six on the Supreme Court decided to rip away constitutional freedoms from millions of women across this country, many warned of what would happen. BARBARA BOXER [9/2/2021]: Women will die if they can't afford to leave that state and that vigilante state and it's just breaking my heart. CHERI BEASLEY [9/22/2022]: Women, who have ectopic pregnancies, who have septic uteruses who can't pass their miscarriages won't be able to get the treatment that they need. And it also means that women will die. BARBARA LEE [10/1/2021]: I'm trying to send a warning that we do not want to go back to the days of back alley abortions because it's deadly. Women will die. REID: Republicans treated those warnings with the same seriousness with which they treat most women's issues. Which isn't much. Republican men from Trump down to governors to state legislatures assured us they were protecting life and that these Trump abortion bans would protect the mother's life if it was ever in danger.  But that's just another lie that they're telling you. ProPublica has been investigating how abortion bans across the country are affecting women. And guess what, it's killing them. Candy Miller was a 41-year-old mother of three, who unintentionally got pregnant back in 2022. Miller, who had lupus, diabetes, and hypertension, was warned that having another baby could kill her. But she didn't have many options because she lived in Georgia. A state that implemented a 6-week abortion ban, passed by the Republican majority state legislature and signed by Brian Kemp.  So, Miller tried to manage her own abortion at home and wound up dying because she was more afraid of seeking help than of what would happen if she didn't. Her son told the coroner that she was terrified of going to a doctor due to the current legislation on pregnancies and abortions. He then told ProPublica that if you get caught trying to do anything to get rid of the baby, you get jail time for that. Miller's sister said she was trying to terminate the pregnancy, not terminate herself. Georgia doctors who reviewed her case found that her death was preventable and that she should still be alive. But she's not the only woman ProPublica found in Georgia who died a needless death because she feared her state's laws. Amber Nicole Thurman was a healthy, 28-year-old mom of a 6-year-old son. She was just getting on her feet, heading to nursing school, when she found out she was pregnant with twins. Because Georgia had just passed its 6-week ban and she was nine weeks pregnant, she decided to drive to North Carolina for a surgical abortion, but missed her appointment. She opted for a self-managed abortion instead.  A few days after taking her last pill, she vomited blood and passed out. She was rushed to the hospital where she was clearly developing sepsis. Doctors left her for 17 hours without the urgent procedure she needed: a D&C. The medical staff watched as her blood pressure dropped. Her organs failed and she was finally wheeled into surgery where they performed that D&C but it was too late. Her heart stopped. According to ProPublica, the last words she uttered to her mom before she died was “promise me you'll take care of my son.” Like Candy Miller, Amber Nicole Thurman's case was reviewed and deemed preventable.

Mysterious symptoms reportedly strike about 20 attendees of Trump rally; campaign investigating possible chemical attack

Attendees of a Trump rally in Tucson, Arizona, reportedly experienced mysterious symptoms suspected of being a chemical attack. 'Despite their personal health struggles, their focus remains on supporting former President Trump.'The incident was reported in the independent news outlet the Arizona Globe. The report says that about 20 people in the "Latinos for Trump" group who appeared on stage experienced the symptoms shortly after the rally ended. Alarmingly, the group appeared on the side of the stage where former President Donald Trump made his entry into the rally. Among the symptoms of the affected members reported to the Arizona Globe were blurred vision, facial swelling, and severe eye pain, which appeared about 30 minutes after the rally ended. Some self-treated with milk before seeking treatment at a hospital. Another said his face turned red and experienced peeling. When they went to the hospital, they were told by staff that others from the rally were there seeking treatment. One person was told by a doctor that she was suffering from a chemical burn after the doctor performed a dye test. That person still suffered from light sensitivity and blurry vision days later. Christy Kelly, the reporter who broke the story at the Arizona Globe, gave an exclusive comment to Blaze Media providing more detail:I personally spoke to at least eight Latino Trump supporters who were affected at the Tucson rally. They are passionate patriots, deeply concerned about President Trump’s continued well-being and their own recovery, and are demanding a thorough investigation into what happened at the event. The injuries they experienced vary, but the people I spoke to all sought medical treatment afterward. I have reviewed two medical reports that confirm these injuries, and the attendees are united in their desire for accountability from the venue. Despite their personal health struggles, their focus remains on supporting former President Trump. The Trump campaign said it was gathering information about the alleged incident. “The Trump campaign has been collecting information. We remain committed to the countless patriots that attend our high-energy, high-impact rallies across the country," said Danielle Alvarez, senior advisor to the campaign. Neither the Tucson Police Department nor the Linda Ronstadt Music Hall responded to a request for comment from the Arizona Globe. Blaze New investigative journalist Steve Baker responded to speculation that the symptoms might be a result of an energy weapon. "If there are any chemical trace elements, then it would not be a directed energy weapon," Baker said. Like Blaze News? ActBlue donor arrested for allegedly threatening to torture and slaughter 6 Supreme Court justices

ActBlue donor arrested for allegedly threatening to torture and slaughter 6 Supreme Court justices

An ActBlue donor shot President Donald Trump on July 13. Another ActBlue donor allegedly attempted to assassinate him on Sunday. It turns out the Alaska man who was arrested Wednesday for allegedly threatening to torture and slaughter six U.S. Supreme Court justices and some of their family members was also an ActBlue donor with over 80 contributions to the Democratic fundraising outfit to his name. The Department of Justice announced Thursday that Panos Anastasiou, 76, has been charged with nine counts of making threats against a federal judge and 13 counts of making threats in interstate commerce. The DOJ refrained from indicating which six justices on the high court — which has a 6-3 conservative majority — were targeted. "We allege that the defendant made repeated, heinous threats to murder and torture Supreme Court Justices and their families to retaliate against them for decisions he disagreed with," Attorney General Merrick Garland said in a statement. "Our justice system depends on the ability of judges to make their decisions based on the law, and not on fear." According to the indictment filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Alaska, Anastasiou sent over 465 messages to the Supreme Court through a public website between March 10, 2023, and July 16. These messages allegedly "contained violent, racist, and homophobic rhetoric coupled with threats of assassination by torture, hanging, and firearms, and encouraged others to participate in the acts of violence." Six justices on the court certainly angered a great many radicals with their June 2022 decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization. The indictment noted that some of the threats were intended to intimidate the six unnamed justices and retaliate against them for actions they had taken in their official capacity as federal justices. Anastasiou allegedly threatened to hang a specific justice from an oak tree, to lynch another, and to kill a third by "putting a bullet in his ... head." He is also accused of threatening to behead, strangle, and/or drown all six, as well as gun down their family members. Although it's unclear what six justices may have done to draw the ire of the Democratic donor, six justices on the court certainly angered a great many radicals with their June 2022 decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization. Numerous pro-abortion extremists engaged in hate crimes and terror attacks after the ruling, targeting pro-life pregnancy centers, churches, and individuals. After a draft of the Dobbs opinion was leaked, Nicholas John Roske of California — who goes on trial next year — was apparently caught near Justice Brett Kavanaugh's house with a gun and a knife and charged with attempted murder. Roske allegedly claimed he was going to give his life a purpose by killing the justice, reported the Washington Post. During part of the period that Anastasiou was allegedly making the threats, Democrats in Washington, D.C., were actively attacking those conservative Supreme Court justices who appeared unwilling to give them their desired results in cases related to the 2020 election and the Jan. 6 protests as well as regarding the question of former President Donald Trump's immunity in U.S. v. Donald Trump. Sen. Elizabeth Warren said in June, "[Justice Samuel] Alito is an extremist who is out of touch with mainstream America. His rising power on the Supreme Court is a threat to our democracy," reported The Hill. Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) tweeted, "Alito answered like a movement activist. Movement activists have their role but it's not on the Supreme Court." Blaze News previously reported that on the basis of a misleading New York Times story, House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) accused Justice Samuel Alito in May of "sympathizing with right-wing violent insurrectionists." House Democratic Whip Katherine Clark (D-Mass.) was among the Democrats happy to demonize Alito. Clark — whose adult son was arrested and charged in January 2023 with assault and battery on a Boston police officer — said in May 23 statement, "Justice Alito has displayed flags at his homes that support insurrection against our government, promote religious nationalism, and attack free and fair elections." "This is not just another example of extremism that has overtaken conservatism. This is a threat to the rule of law and a serious breach of ethics, integrity, and Justice Alito's oath of office," continued Clark. This would not be the first time in recent memory that heated Democratic rhetoric resonated with an extremist. Blaze News previously highlighted that the suspected would-be Trump assassin arrested Sunday directly quoted Democratic rhetoric. Prior to his arrest, Ryan Routh posted about how "DEMOCRACY is on the ballot" this election. This is one of Kamala Harris' go-to lines. If convicted, then Anastasiou faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison for each of the nine counts of threatening the justices and a maximum penalty of five years in prison for each of the latter 13 counts. Free shooter Vigor struggles with wave of negative reviews on Steam
