‘Unconstitutional’: Key Kamala Tax Policy Is So Crazy, Even Legacy Media Is Calling It Out

Democrat presidential nominee Kamala Harris has endorsed a tax policy that is so fringe, even the legacy media has criticized the plan as unfair, “unconstitutional,” and “scary.” Harris, who has been slow to roll out her 2024 policy positions or explain the supposed shift from her far-Left 2020 positions, has endorsed a tax on unrealized gains, which is a tax on money you have yet to collect. The supposed “billionaire tax” is a 25% tax on unrealized capital gains for American households with wealth ironically totaling a fraction of a billion dollars, starting at $100 million. Under Harris’ plan, for example, if you own a home and its value increases, you’ll be on the hook for paying taxes on the increased amount, even if you don’t sell the home. In other words, you’d be paying taxes on money you never received — and may never receive, depending on the market shifts. Bharat Ramamurti, an informal economic advisor to Harris, tried to defend the policy on CNBC, and was shut down by hosts Rebecca Quick and Joe Kernen. Tickets for “Am I Racist?” are on sale NOW! Buy here for a theater near you. “I think that this reaction to unrealized gains is a little funny, given that I bet that the majority of people watching right now are already paying a tax on unrealized gains. It’s called a property tax,” Ramamurti said. “It just doesn’t seem fair in any sense of the word,” Quick said. “Your value of your home never moves the way a stock moves, the way something else moves that you don’t sell,” Quick explained. “It’s also, property tax is a ‘use tax.’ You’re paying for the schools, you’re paying for the emergency services. Those are things that make absolute sense.” Both hosts agreed the tax is likely “unconstitutional.” JUST IN: ?? Kamala Harris economic adviser confirms plan to tax unrealized gainspic.twitter.com/drw024C18q — wallstreetbets (@wallstreetbets) August 28, 2024 Moreover, Forbes also ran a piece from senior contributor Robert W. Wood that is highly critical of the plan, arguing it would be close to impossible to implement and deeming it a “scary” proposal. “Apart from policy, there are administrative issues galore,” Wood highlights. “How do you go about valuing everything every year to be taxed? Public company stock would be straightforward. But most assets could be a nightmare, and who in the end gets to carry the day on value? Disputes about value in tax cases are legendary and voluminous. Nearly every estate tax case with the IRS includes valuation disputes, often with competing experts. In income tax cases, charitable contributions of noncash assets such as real estate or crypto often also end up in major valuation fights.” “What is arguably the scariest part of this idea? What if this opens the door to a more generalized effort by the government to tax you on something that you still own?” he continues. “Right now the proposal is only to use this wealth tax for the truly wealthy. Not just billionaires, but also anyone with at least $100 million.” “Once we start down this path, could we some years from now face a tax like this for someone with $20 million, $10 million, even $1 million? You get the idea,” the Forbes piece added. The article similarly highlighted how the tax could be unconstitutional. “Even if the ‘billionaire’s tax’ to hit anyone at $100 million passes, there could be court challenges based on what the U.S. Constitution says about the government’s taxing power,” Wood said. “The Supreme Court has not fully ruled on a question like this, although one recent guidepost came in a 2024 tax case, Moore vs. USA, in which the Supreme Court upheld a tax on undistributed foreign assets.” Related: Vivek Ramaswamy: Kamala’s Proposed Tax Raises Could Trigger ‘A Second Great Depression’

“Uncle Daddy” To The Rescue: Identical Twin Cheers Up Brother’s Daughter

What is better than one dad? Two! Especially if the second one looks exactly like the first one. Jason and Josh are identical twins. The pair have been known to help one another with their daddy duties, treating each other’s children like their own. Jason has such a presence in his brother’s life that his daughter calls him “Uncle Daddy.” Well, it was Uncle Daddy to the rescue when this identical twin saved the day after his brother’s little girl missed him too much. Identical Twin Saves The Day: “Uncle Daddy” To The Rescue @nellesworld Saving the day agsin! #twinbrothers #mcaloonfamily #familythings ♬ Taylor Swift megamix lyrics and song titles P2 – Silvy | Taylor Nederland Josh and Nelly McAloon share a 2-year-old daughter named Georgia. Georgia loves her daddy very much. And sometimes, she has trouble understanding that he has to travel for work. On one such occasion, Josh had been gone for a couple of days, and Georgia started to miss him terribly. When that happened, Nelly knew just who to call. She called Jason, and he was more than happy to oblige. A video shows Josh pulling up the driveway, and as soon as he gets out of his truck, Georgia runs into his arms. The note over the video reads, “When your little girl is crying for Daddy, but he’s traveling for work, so you call in his identical twin to save the day and play Daddy’s role!” After Josh successfully greets Georgia, the real fun begins. The pair can be seen playing with bubbles in the yard. Jason blows bubbles all around as Georgia happily chases them. The internet is loving Uncle Daddy as much as Georgia does. MistyG7812 commented, “Uncle Daddy is the best.” Yvvonne Spence commented, “Uncle Daddy is awesome, he loves those babies as if they’re his own DNA.” The Best Family Bond Around @themcaloonfamily Identical Twin facts! #identicaltwins #twins #brothers ♬ Not Like Us – Kendrick Lamar Nelly told PEOPLE, “[Josh] thinks of our kids as his own, and he’s willing to fill in and do his brother’s daddy duties.” Thank goodness for that, as viewers can see how little Georgia’s entire mood changes upon seeing her “daddy.” While Josh’s wife claims that Georgia is great at telling her father and his twin, Jason, apart when they are together, she doesn’t seem to notice that it is her “Uncle Daddy” instead of her actual daddy this time. Nelly added, “I really think she thought it was Josh because she was fine.” Georgia also admitted that she had to think ahead to help hide the one thing that could tell these identical brothers apart: tattoos. She stated, “Jason has tattoos on his arms, so I had him put on a long-sleeve shirt so she wouldn’t know.” All seems to have gone fine and dandy. “Uncle Daddy” comes to the rescue once again. Can 'cryptocredits' replace Stanford? Bitcoin pioneer launches Network School

Unless you've been living under a rock on some distant planet, you’re probably aware of the ideological capture that's taken root in U.S. universities — and, more broadly, across the Western education system. Once considered places where minds were expanded and intellectual growth was fostered, these institutions now resemble echo chambers where perspectives are narrowed and critical thinking is sacrificed at the altar of ideology. Graduates don’t just emerge with distorted mindsets; they impose their problematic perspectives on broader society. The school’s mission is to unearth what Srinivasan calls 'dark talent' — no, not criminal masterminds capable of taking down a nation's power grid. Rather, these are individuals brimming with potential, many of whom are often overlooked by the conventional education system. So what can be done? How do we reclaim education from this downward spiral? Enter Balaji S. Srinivasan, a man with a radical plan to shake things up. A doer, not a dreamer Srinivasan, a 44-year-old American entrepreneur and investor, is no stranger to innovation. He served as the chief technology officer of Coinbase and was a general partner at the renowned venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz. With a résumé like that, it’s clear that Srinivasan isn’t just a dreamer — he’s a doer. Raised on Long Island, Srinivasan is a Stanford graduate through and through, holding bachelor's, master's, and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering, plus a master's in chemical engineering, all from the prestigious university. But despite his deep roots in traditional academia, he’s recognized the flaws in the current system. He's also come to grips with the downfall of his alma mater. The very institution that gave Srinivasan his academic credentials is one of those universities that has fallen prey to the ideological capture he’s rallying against. In response, he has launched a controversial new initiative: the Network School 'Dark talent' wanted To say the Network School is unconventional is an understatement. It's an online-first school designed to provide continuous learning, fitness, and community, especially for those who don’t have access to traditional elite pathways. The school’s mission is to unearth what Srinivasan calls 'dark talent' — no, not criminal masterminds capable of taking down a nation's power grid. Rather, these are individuals brimming with potential, many of whom are often overlooked by the conventional education system. The school, set to open its doors on September 23 with a physical campus in Singapore, blends structured and unstructured learning. Every day, according to its founder, students will tackle problem-solving tasks that earn them “cryptocredentials” — non-transferable NFTs that serve as proof of their skills. These credentials will form part of a larger “cryptoresume,” a portfolio that verifies expertise across both technology and the humanities. It's certainly a fresh, digital twist on education, but is it more snake oil than substance? Strange bedfellows? Speaking of snake oil, one notable figure contributing to the school’s ambitious approach is Bryan Johnson, a man I have written about before. Best described as a mash-up between Elon Musk, Peter Thiel, and Michael Jackson, the 47-year-old Johnson is by far the best-known biohacker on the planet. A tech entrepreneur who now wants to live forever, Johnson will bring his Blueprint fitness and nutrition program into the educational mix. In plain English, Blueprint consists of a carefully managed plant-based diet paired with a demanding exercise routine that covers strength training, cardio, and flexibility. But I ask, why is Bryan Johnson involved? His role in the Network School seems more like a flashy add-on than a substantive contribution to education. Cryptocred credulity Graham Hillard of the James G. Martin Center for Academic Renewal, a nonprofit dedicated to enhancing higher education in the U.S., told Align that while "traditional academia needs to be challenged, we should remain cautious about institutions offering cryptocredentials." Hillard, who frequently writes on the troubling state of U.S. universities, is absolutely right. While the traditional system certainly needs to be challenged and “dark talent” should be given the opportunity to flourish, we must carefully analyze the alternatives being offered. Is the Network School really that different from Andrew Tate’s Hustlers University or Patrick Bet-David’s "university"? I ask this because the similarities are striking, particularly when it comes to the lack of accreditation. Where will these graduates go once they emerge from the Network School? Yes, they’ll have “cryptocredentials” and a shiny “cryptoresume,” but will these carry any weight in the real world? Absolutely not. Try landing a role at Costco, Chevron, Citibank, or the local construction site with a cryptoresume, and there's a good chance that security will either laugh you out of the place or show you the door. This isn’t to dismiss the Network School’s potential or suggest that it is an outright scam; rather, it’s to highlight that while the school is designed to tackle a genuine problem, its proposed solution raises more questions than it answers. Align contacted the Network School for comment but did not recieve a response.

Don’t blame Trump for the decline of civility

On a recent episode of the New York Times’ podcast “The Daily,” host Michael Barbaro accompanied a Kamala Harris campaign worker as he knocked on the doors of undecided voters in Wisconsin. Those who answered the door expressed a broad range of opinions, yet most remained skeptical of both candidates. One woman, identified only as Emily, conceded that while she does support some of Donald Trump’s policies, she views him as a divisive figure. The regime has made it abundantly clear that civility is dependent on one thing: subservience. Only those who submit are to be treated fairly. “His rhetoric has definitely had a huge part in the division of this country,” she told the New York Times, “that’s for sure.” Is it? Are we really so certain that our inflamed political and cultural climate is mostly the fault of one man? Passing the blame The New York Times would likely say yes. Like its competitors, the paper has made the same point in more than a few articles published since 2016. This explanation also no doubt appeals to Times readers, as it absolves them of any wrongdoing and places all the blame on Donald Trump, public enemy number one. Emily is right about one thing: Most Americans do view our political differences as insurmountable. According to a Pew Research Center study published in June, only 18% of Americans believe any common ground exists between Republicans and Democrats on the issue of abortion. For immigration, the figure is 21%; for the economy, 32%. And these numbers represent a significant decline from January 2023. But political disagreements are bound to arise in any country. What matters is how they are handled — and that’s where civility comes into play. The Cambridge Dictionary defines the term as “politeness,” which is a start. But civility, especially within a political context, entails something much deeper: the ability to agree to disagree. Disagreeing to disagree By all appearances, Americans are losing that ability. The American Bar Association’s 2023 Survey of Civic Literacy found that 85% of Americans “believe civility is worse compared to ten years ago.” Respondents cited social media (29%), media in general (24%), and public officials (19%) as culprits. In other words, while politics is a factor, it is not the only one. But within the realm of politics, what exactly is responsible for this decline of civility? Liberals are bound to point the finger at Trump, whose frankness certainly offends their politically correct sensibilities. Their own rhetoric, however, is far from angelic; consider the vitriol directed at whites, Christians, men, and other groups deemed to be “oppressors” in recent years. There is clearly plenty of offensive speech to be found on both sides of the aisle. Declaring war What differentiates the two camps, however, is that the left is maniacally obsessed with demolishing the right. Censorship, deplatforming, lawfare, doxxing, shunning, firing — these are all arrows in the left’s quiver, arrows that are almost always only aimed at conservatives. In response, some to the right of center have adopted a similarly combative approach to politics. It is not uncommon to see conservatives call for the cancellation of, say, teachers who promote radical gender ideology to children. Yet conservatives lack the requisite institutional power to match the left’s tactics — and it was the left that let this particular cat out of the bag in the first place. By declaring war on Trump, liberal elites declared war on civility itself. You cannot in good faith weaponize the federal government and mainstream media against a president and his supporters and then turn around and blame them for an increasingly uncivil political climate. Yet that is precisely what they have done, and it is what they will surely continue to do. The regime has made it abundantly clear that civility is dependent on one thing: subservience. Only those who submit are to be treated fairly. But lawfully challenge the regime through the electoral process, as Trump did, and you will invoke the wrath of our wonderfully impartial institutions. Those in power have much to lose from a successful right-wing counterrevolution, so they have no intention of playing nicely. For them, everything is on the line. As such, it should be clear that there will be no great rebirth of civility as long as the current status quo persists. Only peaceful regime change offers a path out of the madness.
