A Tennessee witness describes a deer-like creature while driving in Central Tennessee to work one early morning. The creature's features were 'off' and the coloring was pale.I received the following account:"My sighting occurred outside of Burgess Falls State Park, Tennessee. It was the Fall of 2021 and I was driving to work in the early morning pre-dawn hours. The road is pretty much the main road through the area and deer are a pretty common sight year round in this area.So as I was driving to work on my left I saw the familiar silhouette of a deer about to cross the street and I slowed down a bit to compensate and prepare for any more of the herd that might decide to jump across. It was far enough away I didn't have to slow but maybe five or ten mph slower so not a huge shift, just enough to let it pass.So it runs across in front of me and only as I pass it and my headlights hit it better do I realize that something is off. Of course, by then it's too late for a detailed look as I can't stop and look.It was almost all white. I'll be willing to concede this as an illusion of the headlights in passing as well as that albino and light colorings do happen on occasion, however - its proportions were off just ever so slightly.It had an approximation similar to a llama or an alpaca but that is NOT what it appeared as, it simply had a similar build. Its legs were just ever so slightly too long for a deer, and its neck as well. It was a head or two taller than my car. All of that is hindsight details however from what set my alarm bells off which was the way it was walking.Anyone familiar with deer knows how they usually bound and run across a street. This thing did only what I can describe as a prancing of a sort. If you've ever seen a dog do that little run where their legs are cartoonishly pittering very fast together but they aren't bending their knees this is what it kind of looked like." An Iowa woman and her boyfriend witness a huge bipedal canine one evening near their home. They are also hearing unrecognized 'voices' and believe that the creature is communicating with them.I received the following account:"Hi. I live in Northwest Iowa in Plymouth County on a farm that was first settled in the 1850s. I just moved out here about 3 months ago and there has been something stalking the farm. At first, I thought it was coyotes or even feral dogs and took appropriate measures (yes we have livestock guardian dogs and they do their job). But tonight both my boyfriend and I saw something that really doesn’t fit any local wildlife.The first time I saw it was around 8:15 pm, and it was about 50 feet away with greyish fur, but it covered somewhere around half an acre to an acre in a matter of seconds. It was big, very big! By the time it got to the tree line and looked back at me (with forward-facing eyes), it was every bit of 8-9 feet tall!About an hour later my boyfriend and I were back outside and we both saw it at that point much closer, just across the road. Maybe 100 feet away? And it was every bit of the same 8-9 feet tall, with a bipedal gait. It was snapping full-sized tree branches.We have been hearing voices outside that were NOT human and NOT a regular animal vocalizing. I believe that this huge dog creature has been making the voices. The late paranormal researcher/author and friend Rosemary Ellen Guiley forwarded the following article for reprint, in which she discussed the Skinwalker phenomenon."In Native American lore, especially throughout the American Southwest, skinwalkers are sorcerers who shapeshift into animal form at night and practice their black arts.J.G. Bucklin is part Apache, and related to me a terrifying experience he had with a skinwalker.JGB: I saw the a skinwalker around 1993. I was working as security in a hotel in Taos, New Mexico It was a beautiful summer and the nights were warm and comfortable. I always worked the graveyard shift. This hotel was haunted and I experienced a few things, but nothing prepared me for what I saw that night.It was after midnight, close to 2 AM, and I was in my car patrolling. I parked under a tree and I guess I semi-drifted off. Suddenly, something struck the bottom of my car with enough force to make it sway. This car was a rather heavy 1978 Thunderbird. I started the car and pulled forward turning around in the lot.Sitting where I had been parked was a dog-like thing with an odd face staring me down. I felt a dark energy about it, like it was invading my soul. It had human features, especially the eyes. They had that spark of human, but they were whole evil. Its face didn’t have a long snout. It looked like a human nose, a bit extended but not black tipped like a dog. As for size and body, it was a bit bigger than an adult German Shepard. Its fur was rather mangy and dirty-looking black and tan. It was thickly muscled.Looking at this thing gave me that feeling of fear instinct, when you know you’re in big danger.I hit the gas and tried to hit it with the car. It ran off the property onto native land across the road. It then ran back across onto the hotel property. I made chase. It ran into a third parking lot.It then ran into an area called the “ponds,” where the weeds grow about eight to nine feet tall. There were two large cesspools there, and the area was really weed-filled. I parked and grabbed my pistol and ran on foot after it. I could hear it moving through the weeds. It was circling, trying to come up behind me. Then it rushed and threw me aside like I was built of matchsticks! I felt around and found my pistol and made chase. What ran in on four legs ran back out on two! It looked like a shambling, nude man-like thing that screamed as it fled. The scream was both human and animal – it was horrifying.The thing ran across an area that had sagebrush and cactus, in the direction of some houses, so I could not risk a shot at it.That morning I told the hotel housekeeping crew what happened. Some of the girls were natives from the Taos pueblo. They said matter of factly, “Oh yeah, you saw a skinwalker.”Since then my luck has not been the best – several failed marriages and failed kidneys. My bad luck may or may not have been a result of my encounter. I saw to it that a shaman, Tall Eagle Boy, saged, rattled and prayed over me within the week. We blew sacred smoke. He passed away since.REG: Do you have any idea why the skinwalker engaged with you?JGB: I know it was stalking me. I was parked on hotel property but who knows how long he was prowling. He may have been watching me for weeks, or even months. My big question is, how did it fit under my car, which was somewhat low and quite heavy. When it struck the bottom of my car, I felt the jolt and the car actually “rocked.”REG: Have you recovered in health and luck?JGB: Since then my sacred protector is a large white wolf that appeared to me in a dream, and I have seen it in fleeting glimpses. Among my people, the wolf is brave, and takes care of its family.My health has diminished but has stabilized. It has taken time, but my luck has improved greatly. I think that prayer and the timely introduction of my spirit animal may have broken any hold skinwalker may have had – I hope.Skinwalkers are common among more than the Navajo – Apache and other tribes also have these abominations. Our people learn to avoid them and not speak of them. Like a big dummy, I made the mistake of attempting combat.REG comments: The reason for this engagement with a skinwalker will probably never be known, but for some reason, J.G. Bucklin landed on its radar. Perhaps it meant to toy with him by bucking the car. Skinwalkers are shapeshifters, and so it would be possible for them to fit into narrow spaces. When J.G. gave chase—instead of leaving the scene, as many would have done—it retaliated by leaving its mark of a debilitating effect on his life. I received this strange account from a reader in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She describes the night her grandparents passed. The incident closely mirrors an event experienced by a friend."Hi Lon - I have a true story to share with you and your readers. This occurred in 1968 when I was 8 years old. My family lived in a large Italianate-style home in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It had been my father's home when he was a boy and had been in his family since the 1850s.At the time my paternal grandparents were living there as well. In fact, my aunt and cousins also lived in separate apartments that had been built onto the original house. We were a very tight-knit family involved with many of the civic activities in our small community.My grandmother loved to read stories to me and my cousins though most of the time it was only myself. She had a large sitting room on the 2nd floor filled with 19th-century antiques. She preferred to read by candlelight as she did when she was a girl growing up in the same house. The atmosphere in the room was a throwback to a more simple time.This particular evening had an ominous feeling to it. It was early July and the house was exceptionally warm. There had been a series of thunderstorms with pouring rain off and on for several hours. I tried to get comfortable in the sitting room while listening to my grandmother read but there was little relief. She had just read a short story from Grimm's Fairy Tales titled "God's Food":There were once upon a time two sisters, one of whom had no children and was rich, and the other had five and was a widow, and so poor that she no longer had food enough to satisfy herself and her children. In her need, therefore, she went to her sister, and said, my children and I are suffering the greatest hunger. You are rich, give me a mouthful of bread. The very rich sister was as hard as a stone, and said, I myself have nothing in the house, and drove away the poor creature with harsh words.After some time the husband of the rich sister came home, and was just going to cut himself a piece of bread, but when he made the first cut into the loaf, out flowed red blood. When the woman saw that she was terrified and told him what had occurred. He hurried away to help the widow and her children, but when he entered her room, he found her praying. She had her two youngest children in her arms, and the three eldest were lying dead. He offered her food, but she answered, for earthly food have we no longer any desire. God has already satisfied the hunger of three of us, and he will hearken to our supplications likewise. Scarcely had she uttered these words than the two little ones drew their last breath, whereupon her heart broke, and she sank down dead.After she read the story I told her I was going to the kitchen to get a drink of cold water. She looked over at me and said "...don't be long, you may miss something." I ran down the hallway to the kitchen and got my drink. I started to walk back towards the sitting room when I noticed a wispy white cloud rush out of the sitting room doorway and into my grandparent's bedroom across the hall. I was startled and immediately overcome with dread and apprehension. I walked slowly into the sitting room and knew right away that my grandmother had passed away. That same night my grandfather, who had been feeling ill and was lying on his bed at the time my grandmother died, passed away in his sleep.A few years later, my 5th-grade teacher gave each one of my classmates a list of literary collections in which we were assigned to pick a few favorite short stories and give a report to the class. Grimm's Fairy Tales was part of the list, and I did not intend to use any of the titles.The next day my friend and classmate Linda came to my house after school. We were talking about the assignment and discussing which titles we would choose. As we read down the list we came to Grimm's Fairy Tales. Immediately Linda said, "Nope - no Grimm's Fairy Tales." I asked her "Why?" She explained that something weird happened to her when she was younger and that Grimm's Fairy Tales brought back terrible memories. Wow! I asked, "What happened?" Linda started to explain the scenario - it was a horrifying but familiar account.When Linda was very young her father would read her and her sister bedtime stories. Every night their father would pick out a new short story. The girls looked forward to it since he would act out some of the characters. One night he decided to read "God's Food" though he had warned them that it was just a fairy tale and that it conveyed a message about having goodwill towards others. He quickly read the story and then kissed each of them goodnight. About a minute later they heard terrible thumping and crashing sounds. They jumped out of bed and ran out onto the landing - to discover that their father had fallen down the stairs and had broken his neck. Their mother was hysterical and totally out of control - to the point that she never recovered from their father's death. She eventually became a recluse.I was stunned by Linda's story. Since then I have wondered if this particular tale had caused other tragedies. I have researched for years but have never found anything similar to our experiences. Could these incidents be related somehow? What possible connection could the story and our situations have?I still live in the family home with my husband where we raised our three children. I would occasionally be visited by the spirits of my grandparents and they were always together. In fact, they still pay me a visit around the Thanksgiving holiday, which they both truly enjoyed in life. Linda and I are still very close friends but she misses her father deeply and wishes that he would find her one day." The incident happened several years ago, but it really stuck with the experiencer just because of how strange it was, an encounter with an unknown humanoid."This incident happened several years ago, but it really stuck with me just because of how strange it was. I'm hoping this is the proper place to put it, as my encounter was with a humanoid being.Anyway, I was heading out of my house at around 6 am. It was summer, so I took my walks at sunrise to avoid the daytime heat. I had done this many times and had my walk down to a science. Just my muscle memory could get me through.So, shortly after leaving my home, I'm heading up this road toward the highway. I lived behind a school, so I was very aware of the roads and vehicles, even if I was distracted by something else. Which I was. As I walked down this road, I was going through playlists on my MP3 player. I was almost right on the first intersecting road by the time I found what I wanted to listen to and looked up.Everything was normal, and there were no cars to be seen, which made sense as it was a Saturday morning. So, I continued up toward the highway where there was a sidewalk.But about three intersections from the highway, I noticed a shadow on the School Zone sign ahead of me. Figuring it was mine, I just kept walking. I was only two intersections away when a disturbing thought hit me. I was walking east. There was no way that shadow belonged to me, and since there was absolutely no one around, there was no way on Earth that that shadow was really a shadow.As if it could read my thoughts and sudden fear, a figure stepped out into the intersection right behind the school. And the only thing I can figure it was was a Grey alien. It had all the features: spindly limbs, an enormous head, gigantic black eyes, and barely a nose, ears, or lips to speak of.For anyone else, this would have been time to panic and run, but my military training kicked in. I didn't know what it was. I didn't know what it wanted. But I knew it had no place this close to my home and my children.So, I charged at it, hoping at the very least to run it off, or better still, find some way to capture it. Of course, under both of those desires, I wanted to kill it. To this day, I don't know why I wanted to kill it. Maybe it was part of my training that had stuck into my brain, or maybe it was because this being was undoubtedly a threat, at least in my mind. I don't think aliens come all the way to our neck of the intergalactic woods just to hide behind signs. Something was going on here, and I had to fix it.The next thing I know, I'm standing at the intersection. The creature was gone. Naturally, I was confused. The sun was higher than it should have been, and a quick glance at my MP3 player showed that I'd missed at least ten songs. By my best guess, I was missing nearly half an hour. Now, scared and disoriented, I turned back and walked home. It was already getting hot, and heatstroke was not going to help me sort out everything that had just happened.I haven't told this story to anyone other than my parents and a single friend. We all agree that this was something strange and that whatever it was, it was definitely not right. Even now, years later, I wonder what I really saw. Was it really an alien? Did I honestly try to capture and kill an actual extraterrestrial? I don't have those answers. And that scares me.But one thing is, I don't think I got abducted. I don't have weird dreams, and I couldn't find any mysterious marks anywhere on my body. The only thing that I can't explain is a painful feeling in my upper left arm. It feels like there is something in there, but X-rays have shown nothing. Could it be that I was tagged by this creature the same way we tag animals for study? Another question I can't answer, and that scares the daylights out of me. This pain has not gone away, but I have become accustomed to it. Maybe one day, I'll be able to get better scans of my arm and see if maybe a different machine could see what the X-rays couldn't." According to Deadline, Jessica Rothe (pictured above), who starred in the indie horror films Happy Death Day and Happy Death Day 2U, has joined the production. Joseph Cross (Lincoln, Mindhunter, Big Little Lies) has also joined in a starring role, and the young Julianna Layne (Prodigal Son, A Christmas Story Christmas) is part of the cast as well. Here’s a synopsis of the film, per Deadline: The film follows Ellie (Rothe), who is stuck in a cyclical nightmare. Grappling with a condition that erratically resets her memory, she’s left unable to remember her husband (Cross) or daughter (Layne). Each reset leaves her disoriented and haunted with vivid memories of a life she’s never lived. It’s interesting that Rothe is once again in a version of a looped story—the premise of the Happy Death Day films is that her character relives the same day (her birthday) over and over as she tries to figure out who keeps murdering her. In Affection, it seems like her character’s challenges fall in the realm of Memento, in that she can’t remember her recent past once her memory is erased and has to potentially “relive” things over again. The film is produced by Meza, along with Austin Walk and Bay Dariz via their company Hypochondriac, as well as JP Ouellette at Mass. Executive producers include Christian Henderson and Christy Walker. The project is still in its pre-production days, so no news yet on when it will make its way to a screen near you.
