It was a time of control, political tensions, and wars. It was also a time of the Space Race (the infamous Sputnik), the Cold War, and communism. Despite all of the political turmoil and war time tensions, every day citizens still had to go on and live their lives. GWINNETT COUNTY, GA – A man who led a Georgia State Trooper on a high-speed chase that ultimately ended in the lawman’s death will serve 17 years in prison.   Gerson Danilo Ayala-Rodriguez, 21, on Wednesday, Aug. 14, pled guilty to first-degree vehicular homicide in connection with the death of Trooper Jimmy Cenescar. In addition to the felony charge, Ayala-Rodriguez also was convicted on misdemeanor charges of reckless driving, speeding, two counts each of driving without a license, operating a vehicle without insurance, and operating an unregistered vehicle. Ayala-Rodriguez will serve 17 years in prison as part of the negotiated plea.  “We tragically lost a young State Trooper as a result of the defendant’s reckless driving,” said Gwinnett County District Attorney Patsy Austin-Gatson. “Ultimately, the defendant accepted responsibility for his actions in this, although it cannot bring back Trooper Cenescar. KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Plans involving assault, threats, and rival biker gangs land more than a dozen people behind bars. Court documents show the Kansas City area was at the center of the plot. A grand jury indicted more than a dozen Kansas City members of the Pagan’s motorcycle club. The indictment accuses them of a series of armed assaults against rival motorcycle gangs. The indictment was unsealed Thursday. A dozen law enforcement agencies executed seven search warrants, including one at a house near SW 3rd Street and Pryor Road in Lee’s Summit, Thursday morning. Officers seized more than 40 firearms, thousands of rounds of ammunition, body armor and a marijuana grow operation. After more than a week of investigating without an arrest, Portland Police announced on Friday that they have arrested a 47-year-old man from Naples in connection to the fatal July 30 shooting near Morrill’s Corner on Forest Avenue. Police say a warrant was issued on Thursday for the arrest of Aaron Karp, 47, of Naples, for the charge of murdering 52-year-old Susan McHugh of Gray. Karp surrendered after learning of the arrest warrant and was taken into custody at the Portland Police Station that evening, police say.
