Owner of Athletic Apparel Brand Fights to Protect Women’s Sports

The owner of a new athletic clothing brand says she has seen broad support for protecting the exclusivity of women’s sports from the transgender movement since she began advocating for the cause.  Jennifer Sey, who founded XX-XY Athletics earlier this year, explained to Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts in an interview why she started the brand in response to the trend of men who identify as women pushing their way onto women’s sports teams across the U.S.  “One area that people do come together on is this idea of protecting women’s sports and keeping women’s sports and spaces female,” said Sey, a former chief marketing officer and global brand president for Levi Strauss & Co.. She referenced May 2023 Gallup polling showing that nearly 70% of Americans do, in fact, agree on the issue.  The movement to oppose transgenderism includes “the most politically diverse group of women,” said Sey, a former Democrat, citing her experience speaking at public events on the subject.  A former gymnast herself, Sey told Roberts: “This should not be controversial.”  “Everybody understood until about five minutes ago that male and female bodies were different,” she said. “Now, suddenly, it’s offensive to say that? Now, suddenly, we’re expected to carry this lie forward, which is [that] there’s no difference between male and female bodies and that sex is not binary?”  Watch the full interview on “The Kevin Roberts Show” podcast and hear how Sey is fighting back with XX-XY Athletics. Illegal Immigrant Who Had Previously Been Deported Charged with Horrific Crime Against Young Relative

Each time it happens, the outrage builds. In a case where new alleged victims have continued to emerge, authorities in Shelby Township, Michigan, north of Detroit, have charged 32-year-old Joel Quintana-Dominguez, a once-deported illegal immigrant, with the sexual assault of a "female relative" under the age of 13, according to...

Major University To Shutter DEI Office

Major University To Shutter DEI Office

Auburn University announced it will dissolve its Office of Inclusion and Diversity by August 15th. The announcement follows a new law signed by Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey “banning DEI programs and certain teachings,” WRBL-TV reports. Colleges in Alabama have until October 1st to comply with the law. Auburn University will dissolve its Office of Inclusion and Diversity by Aug. 15, officials announced Monday. https://t.co/5rA69M5RjF — AL.com (@aldotcom) July 30, 2024 “We remain resolute in our commitment to deliver exceptional experiences and to support all students, with particular emphasis on providing access and opportunity,” the university said in a statement obtained by WRBL-TV. “We are dedicated to ensuring the First Amendment is celebrated and that all students, faculty and staff are welcomed, valued, respected and engaged,” it added. #Auburn announced the following in response to Alabama Act 2024-34, related to DEI offices, programs, and activities. It was included in an email to faculty and professional staff. pic.twitter.com/rHjnHsZM7M — John Carvalho (@John_P_Carvalho) July 29, 2024 WRBL-TV reports: The office employed 14 full-time employees and three part-time graduate assistants. Staff will be reassigned to other departments, Auburn officials said, taking on new roles in student recruitment, admissions, or support, reporting to various offices. Founded in 2016, the Office of Inclusion and Diversity aimed to improve retention and recruitment of underrepresented groups. Auburn reported spending about $5.6 million on DEI efforts, with $1.8 million for the diversity office, according to a 2022 legislative inquiry. It is unclear what services will remain after August 15. Officials are working with stakeholders to ensure compliance with the new law while advancing Auburn’s mission. The university’s announcement comes almost a week after the University of Alabama system announced they would close the DEI offices at the University of Alabama, University of Alabama at Birmingham and University of Alabama in Huntsville. Unlike the UA system, Auburn University has not announced plans to create programs with similar goals. The university created multiple groups of students, faculty, staff, administrators and alumni to “ensure Auburn advances its mission while being consistent with applicable law,” the email explained. During an April University Senate meeting, President Christopher B. Roberts and Nathan discussed how Auburn was working with others on how to comply with and navigate SB 129. The groups worked together to be aligned with the law’s requirements and Auburn’s internal vision for students and faculty. Gov. Kay Ivey signed the anti-DEI bill on March 20, 2024, after the Alabama Supreme Court ruled in favor of the act on Feb. 22. The same day of Ivey’s signing, Roberts and Nathan issued a joint statement to students and staff that the university would evaluate the bill and follow the law’s requirements.

Kamala Harris VP Contender Cancels Fundraising Events

Josh Shapiro cancels weekend fundraisers as speculation into Harris' VP pick continues | Click on the image to read the full story https://t.co/EgKhbUGDp5 — WTAE-TV Pittsburgh (@WTAE) August 1, 2024 Per CNBC: “The Governor’s trip was planned several weeks ago and included several fundraisers for his own campaign committee,” Shapiro spokesman Manuel Bonder confirmed to NBC News. “His schedule has changed and he is no longer traveling to the Hamptons this weekend.” The meeting at Kempner’s home in Water Mill, New York, on Sunday was set to have more than 100 people attend, including those from the legal, sports and finance industries, the person explained. This person was granted anonymity in order to speak freely about a private matter. Shapiro was also supposed to be at a fundraiser in East Hampton on Saturday for a group called The Next 50, according to an invite. Shapiro has emerged as a favorite among some Harris advisors in part because he is so popular in the must-win swing state. Shapiro’s approval ratings are some of the highest of any governor in the nation. According to NBC News, the vetting team for Kamala Harris’ campaign has met with six potential running mate candidates. IL Gov. J.B. Pritzker had a 3-hour video session with VP vetting team Monday + follow-up yesterday that focused in part on policy, source w/knowledge says: “Harris campaign has met with 6 potential VP picks as the selection process nears its end” https://t.co/mYmYjjb1jP — Natasha Korecki (@natashakorecki) August 1, 2024 NBC News reports: The six contenders are Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear, Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. All of them are around the same age as Harris, 59, or younger, and most have already stumped for the vice president on the campaign trail or in media appearances since President Joe Biden dropped out of the race. Shapiro met with Harris’ vetting team on Wednesday, according to a source familiar with the meeting. The vice president was not present, the source said. Shapiro canceled fundraisers in the Hamptons this weekend originally scheduled to raise money for his PAC, his press secretary Manuel Bonder confirmed. “His schedule has changed and he is no longer traveling to the Hamptons this weekend,” Bonder said. Two sources familiar said Kelly met with Harris’ vetting team Tuesday afternoon. Kelly missed at least two votes on the Senate floor on Wednesday between noon and 6 p.m. ET, one source said. His aide said he was “off campus.” Harris previously announced the first rally with her vice presidential pick will take place Tuesday, August 6th, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
