United States Secret Service (USSS) agents assigned to Ella Emhoff, the stepdaughter of Vice President Kamala Harris, arrested a man causing damage to two of her protective detail’s vehicles in New York City.

Despite some backlash to former President Donald Trump speaking during a Q&A session at the National Association of Black Journalists (NAJB) Conference on Wednesday, Fox News anchor Harris Faulkner — who was one of the moderators during the Q&A — said she saw much of the audience enjoying the opportunity to hear from Trump. The NAJB released a statement before the Q&A defending its decision to invite Trump along with Vice President Kamala Harris to the conference, stating, “While we acknowledge the concerns expressed by our members, we believe it is important for us to provide our members with the opportunity to hear directly from candidates and hold them accountable.” Harris declined the invitation to fly to Chicago to speak at the conference. Faulkner spoke to Fox News host Martha McCallum following Trump’s Q&A and said she heard from “young journalists” after the Q&A that they were “glad” the former president spoke. “What I loved about what you couldn’t see today was how much of that audience was enjoying the moment of hearing from a candidate that they might not always agree with — and that is the whole point,” she said. “So for all of that pushback, young journalists that I’m talking to after the event are saying, ‘Well, we’re glad he’s here,'” Faulkner added. You don’t even say ‘Hello, how are you,'” Trump replied. “Are you with ABC? Because I think they are a fake news network, a terrible network.” The Q&A also came to an abrupt ending after Faulkner attempted to ask Trump a question about Project 2025, but Scott cut her off. “I think we have to leave it there,” Scott said. “That is the last word. Thank you so much, Mr. Trump, for coming today and joining us.” CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP Vice President Harris reportedly asked conference organizers if she could attend via Zoom, but earlier this week, the organizers were informed “that Harris would not be available in person or virtually during our Convention,” according to a statement from NABJ President Ken Lemon. The statement added that Lemon’s team was “in conversation with the Harris for President campaign team to schedule a Q&A session between Vice President Harris and NABJ, either in person or virtually, at some point in September.”

On October 7 last year, ordinary civilians in Israel were the victims of extraordinary savagery. Hamas terrorists killed young people at a music festival, often in gruesome ways. Families were slaughtered in suburban homes. By any civilized moral standards, there ought to be overwhelming sympathy for a country subjected to such savagery. Instead, throughout the Western world, we have witnessed endless anti-Israel protests. Why? Part of the reason is demographics. In Britain, for example, in 2001 there were one and half million Muslims. Today, there are almost four million. That is not to say that every — or even most — British Muslims are anti-Israel. But it does explain the scale and size of some recent protests. So, too, on American university campuses. There have been frequent anti-Israel student protests, often at so-called elite universities. It is perhaps not a coincidence that there has also been a rapid rise in the number of students with Middle Eastern backgrounds at such universities. Again, not every student from the Middle East is necessarily anti-Israel. But the reservoir of potential anti-Israel student protesters is certainly larger than before. The rise in anti-Israel sentiment in the West clearly can’t only be about demographics. Many, if not most, of those protesting against Israel are not those with a Middle Eastern background, but those on the political Left. Why then do those on the Left have such animus towards Israel? Why do they seem to suspend ordinary moral standards whenever Israel is involved? When it comes to Ukraine, for example, those on the political Left – correctly in my view – see Ukraine as a brave country, rightfully taking a stand against a vastly bigger aggressor. So why don’t they see Israel that way? Israel wasn’t just attacked on October 7. From the Six Day War to the Yom Kippur War, Israel has been on the receiving end of relentless aggression. Israel, a country smaller than Vermont, is surrounded by larger foes intent on destroying her and eradicating her people, as Hamas showed us a few months ago. Progressive opinion in America and Britain is of the view that the government of Ukraine must not try to accommodate Russia or make concessions. So why do they demand that Israel call a ceasefire? London, Washington and Berlin are full of leaders who want to supply Ukraine with weapons. Why then do many also demand that America and Europe stop giving Israel the tools to defend herself? The last time there was unequivocal support for Israel in the West was during the Entebbe raid in Uganda in 1976. I remember the morning of the Entebbe raid well. A young child at the time, I happened to be living close by in Kampala. When Israel pulled off a daring rescue mission, freeing the trapped hostages from the hijacked Air France plane at Entebbe — where Benjamin Netanyahu’s brother Yonatan lost his life — there was rejoicing across the political spectrum. Today, when Israel attempts to rescue her hostages in Gaza she is treated by many media outlets with scorn. Look at how posters of Israeli hostages held in Gaza have been torn down in cities throughout Europe and America. As my friend Douglas Murray has pointed out, when a cat or dog goes missing in London or Paris or New York, people will often put up a poster about the missing pet. If we saw someone take down a poster about a missing pet, we would be offended. We’d know it was wrong. Where is the outrage against those removing posters of the Bibas kids? One reason Israel is held to a different standard is anti-Semitism. Anti-Semitism is a famously shape shifting virus. At one time, Jews were hated for their religion, then for their race. Today, it seems to me, it is for their nation. Israel is loathed by many progressives because as a country, Israel embodies the notion of national self-determination. For many centuries, Jewish families toasted each other at Passover with the phrase: “Next year in Jerusalem.” And then in 1948, almost miraculously, it came true. National self-determination offends elite opinion formers. They revere supranationalism instead. They venerate the UN, the ICC and the EU. Progressives prefer laws made by international treaty over those passed by elected national legislatures. Progressives prefer fealty to rules made by the global community over obligations to an actual community. Israel’s success offends the Left not only because she is a national state, but because she demonstrates the success of Western society. If all cultures were of equal worth, why then does a small state that could fit inside Vermont produce so much enterprise and innovation? If there is an equivalence between cultures, why has post 1948 Israel seen such success amid a sea of Middle Eastern failure and autocracy? Those who loathe Israel don’t just hate the Jewish nation state, they despise all nation states – including another phenomenally successful Republic, started not in 1948 but in 1776. If they merely hate Israel, why do they burn the American flag? America and the Western way of life is their intended target. Whether we like it or not, those of us who love America, who see Western culture as a sublime human achievement, have no choice but to side with and support Israel, against those who seek to destroy us all. Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has ordered a direct strike on Israel in retaliation for the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh inside of Iran on Tuesday night. The New York Times reported that he gave the order at an emergency meeting of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council that was held immediately after the country announced Haniyeh’s death. “We see avenging his blood our duty,” Khamenei said, adding that there would be a “severe punishment” for his death. Iran has blamed Israel for killing Haniyeh, who celebrated his organization’s unprecedented terrorist attack against Israel on October 7 and who had publicly called for more attacks. The Iranian Mission to the United Nations said in a statement: “The response to an assassination will indeed be special operations—harder and intended to instill deep regret in the perpetrator.” Khamenei’s order comes after Iran launched an unprecedented attack on Israel in April, firing hundreds of drones and missiles launched from inside Iran directly at Israel. Senior U.S. officials said at the time that Iran’s attacks were designed to cause mass casualties in major civilian areas and to damage infrastructure. Iranian officials told the Times that one option they are considering is a coordinated attack that would include using its terrorist proxy groups that are located throughout the region, including Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and Yemen. It has been public knowledge since late last year that Israel had vowed to hunt down and terminate everyone involved in Hamas’ October 7 attack, including the terrorist group’s leaders who live in foreign countries. Haniyeh’s death comes after Israel killed Hezbollah’s Fuad Shukr in Lebanon earlier in the day in response to an attack that Hezbollah launched last weekend that killed 12 children in northern Israel. The IDF said that Shukr was Hezbollah’s “most senior military commander and the head of its Strategic Unit” and Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah’s “right-hand man” and was his “adviser for planning and directing wartime operations.”

American distance swimmer Katie Ledecky delivered a gold-medal performance in the 1500-meter freestyle on Wednesday, bringing her total Olympic medal count to 12 — and earning her entrance into an elite club with only three other members. Former President Donald Trump blasted the “rude and nasty” questions from moderators during his Q&A session at the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) Conference in Chicago on Wednesday, and celebrated the event as a victory. Trump sat down with ABC reporter Rachel Scott, Semafor reporter Kadia Goba, and Fox News anchor Harris Faulkner for an interview that got off to a contentious start when Scott focused on Trump’s past negative comments about black Democrats and asked the former president why black voters would trust him. “The questions were Rude and Nasty, often in the form of a statement, but we CRUSHED IT!” Trump wrote on Truth Social after the event. Later in the Q&A, Trump said it was a “disgrace” that Scott began the interview in a “hostile manner.” Trump addressed illegal immigration, the economy, and inflation and how those issues are affecting black Americans under the Biden administration. “The inflation is absolutely destroying our middle class, our working class, virtually every class. Inflation is a disaster in our country,” he said, adding, “People can’t buy houses. They no longer have the American Dream. Young people, young black people, they don’t have the American Dream anymore.” To address high inflation, Trump said, “We have to bring down the cost of energy. … This was all started by a bad energy policy by Joe Biden.” Before the Q&A, Trump also blasted Vice President Kamala Harris for declining to attend the NABJ Conference reportedly over scheduling conflicts. “Crazy Kamala disrespectfully refused to attend the National Association of Black Journalists Conference, but I am on my way to meet with them now in Chicago. Because of which, she’ll probably end up doing, she has no choice, but remember — it is only for that reason!” Trump posted on Truth Social. As Trump’s plane was approaching Chicago, he added, “Getting ready to land in Chicago — unlike Crazy Kamala!”

Two boxers who were previously barred from a women’s competition over gender concerns are set to compete in the Paris Olympics. Imane Khelif of Algeria and Lin Yu‑ting of Taiwan were disqualified from the Women’s World Boxing Championships in New Delhi last year after their chromosome tests came back as XY. Men typically have XY chromosomes, while women have XX chromosomes. “Based on DNA tests, we identified a number of athletes who tried to trick their colleagues into posing as women,” Umar Kremlev, president of the International Boxing Association, which governs the World Boxing Championships, said at the time. “According to the results of the tests, it was proved that they have XY chromosomes. Such athletes were excluded from competition,” Kremlev said. However, both boxers have been cleared to fight in the women’s 66-kilogram and women’s 57-kilogram matches this week at the Paris Olympics, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) confirmed. Khelif is set to fight Italy’s Angela Carini on Thursday. Carini said in an emotional tribute after one of her victories recently that she wanted to win for her father, who has passed away. Yu‑ting is scheduled to fight Uzbekistan’s Sitora Turdibekova on Friday. Thank God that day I got out of the ring safely, and it’s good that they finally realized.” Trans-identifying males competing with women has become a hot button issue in recent years. Female athletes have spoken out about how competing against biological males affected them, saying they missed out on opportunities and scholarships because they lost competitions, and they felt uncomfortable sharing locker rooms with their male competitors. Critics have also raised serious concerns about biological males playing alongside women and girls, including high school girls getting physically injured. Last year in North Carolina, a female high school volleyball player suffered severe trauma after a trans-identifying male player spiked a volleyball that hit her head.
