Here now is Ira Bershatsky with more in this week’s Precious Metals Update: Advisor Metals Precious Metals Market Update for November 29, 2024 Tailwinds and headwinds this week for physical precious metals… Tailwinds New home sales were lower in October versus September. The UBS investment bank forecast gold to reach $2,900 in 2025. TD Bank of Canada sees strong upside for silver next year. Gold is up over $111 from its mid-November low and is over $247 above its 200-day moving average and is up over $612 (30%) in 2024. Silver is up over 59 cents from its mid-November low, and is over $2.06 above its 200-day moving average and is up over $7.06 (29%) in 2024. Headwinds (Mostly focusing on the FED) This week the Personal Consumption Expenditures Index for October was released with the core number, which is the FED’s preferred index number, at 2.8% in October versus September’s 2.7% annual rate.  Going in the wrong direction for the FED to lower interest rates sooner.  The minutes from their last meeting, also released this week, emphasized this point. Central Bank Digital Currencies are failing at central banks worldwide says an article in the Financial Times from 11/26/24.  It can be found with an Internet search.  The link is not able to be copied and pasted. Summary As of this writing, November 29, 2024, the metals continue their upward march from their mid-November lows.  As many of you know, one of my mantras is nothing goes up in a straight line or down in a straight line.  Volatility in the metals with the recent US presidential election is not unexpected.  My opinion continues to be metals are a longer-term hold with more upside potential. Podcast host Joe Rogan blew up on “The View” cohost Joy Behar for claiming that he “believes in dragons” and then saying that was a good reason for people to discredit his program. During the most recent episode of “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast that dropped on Thanksgiving Day, Rogan was speaking to his guests about Behar, who recently said, “we went from Walter Cronkite, basically, to this guy Joe Rogan who believes in dragons. I checked it.” “I had to read the thing about ‘The View’ because I just thought it was funny,” Rogan said. “Joy Behar was trying to say I believe in dragons! She said, ‘I checked it, I checked it!’ And then the lady goes, ‘Did you double check it,’ and she goes, ‘I checked it, he believes in dragons. They lived alongside people.’” “This is the most important part,” he added. “This is right after she was saying, ‘We are run by ABC News, you should trust us,’ not Joe Rogan who believes in dragons,’ so by saying we should trust them because they’re double checked by ABC News and then making the stupidest f**kng statement — You didn’t listen to what I said, you didn’t listen to what the wildlife biologist said.” “When you’re worried about losing your job and you’re worried about podcasts taking over and who is the source of news and, ‘We said Donald Trump is Hitler, but half the country disagreed with us and this is crazy and Joe Rogan believes in dragons!’ It’s just frantic,” the podcast host continued. Rogan closed out the segment making it clear he had “no hate” for Behar and would even give her a hug if he saw her. “I’d probably say the same thing about me if I was her,” the podcast host said. “It’s no big deal, I don’t care, but it’s a silly thing saying it. It undermines your own personal credibility if you say we’re so good because we’re supported by ABC News and then you Joe Rogan believes in dragons in the next sentence.” Despite Behar’s claim, what Rogan actually said was that he was “fascinated” by the things that did not exist but still appeared across cultures — like dragons. He then explained that he believed people had seen something real, like a large lizard, which inspired exaggerations and stories that led to the legends. On the notion of fire-breathing dragons that hoarded treasure, Rogan’s assessment was simple: “Bulls***.” After video of Behar’s wild claim began circulating on X — and someone pointed out that “The View” had labeled him a “dragon believer” — Rogan announced: “That’s my new official X description.” Virginia Kruta contributed to this piece. It’s been nearly ten years since Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck announced they were separating after a decade of marriage. They ultimately divorced in 2017 but have remained amicable for the sake of their children Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12. Former President Bill Clinton revealed his extreme reaction to his wife Hillary Clinton losing to President-elect Donald Trump in 2016. Clinton is releasing a memoir entitled “Citizen: My Life After The White House,” where he says that he couldn't sleep for two years and would often explode into fits of rage. 'Putin’s enablers were Comey and the political press.' “The whole thing is hard for me to write,” the former president wrote. “I couldn’t sleep for two years after the election. I was so angry, I wasn’t fit to be around.” Clinton went on to call it the “darkest election possible in the United States” and blamed the media as well as Russian interference for his wife's stunning loss to Trump for his first term. He also referenced former FBI Director James Comey's announcement about the investigation into Hillary Clinton ahead of the election. “Almost two years after the election, Kathleen Hall Jamieson, a highly regarded social scientist said Russia’s cyber attacks piled on top of Comey’s interventions were effective enough to persuade voters in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin to vote for third parties or stay at home,” he added, referring to the battleground states. “If so, Putin’s enablers were Comey and the political press," he added. Clinton spoke at the Democratic National Convention in support of the presidential campaign of Vice President Kamala Harris in August, but he appeared frail and had a raspy voice. "I want to say this from the bottom of my heart, I have no idea how many more of these I’ll be able to come to," he said. "I started in ’76, and I’ve been every one since — no, ’72.
