The Verge’s favorite board and video games

Screenshot: Steam Play is important — in fact, it can be as important to a grown-up as it is to a child. If you’ve spent the day concentrating on work, doing your taxes, cleaning your home, or caring for others, it’s not a bad idea to also take a little time for yourself to escape from your adult responsibilities. These days, play can take a lot of different forms — whether it’s assembling the latest monster Lego project, getting together for a marathon board game, or staying up later than you should with your favorite virtual city builder. On a screen or on a tabletop, virtual or touchable, played alone or with friends — games are a way we can keep ourselves centered. We asked the staff of The Verge what games they play in order to give their busy... Continue reading…

Crock Pot Pork Chops For Two

Crock Pot Pork Chops For Two

This is an easy dinner recipe that requires only 5 minutes of prep time to make super tender Crock Pot Pork Chops for just two people! AN COMFORTING CROCK POT DINNER FOR TWO These Crock Pot Pork Chops for Two are so tender and juicy. They’re smothered in a brown gravy that’s soooo tasty. I love a good dinner that not only is easy make and tastes delicious, but doesn’t require me to stand around in the kitchen for hours on end. Perfect for when you aren’t feeding a ton of hungry mouths anymore or you just have a couple pork chops that you need to use up! Looking for more recipes for two? Be sure to check them out here! FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:  Can I use low sodium, or no sodium ingredients? Yes. Whenever you have a good substitute that suits your diet then absolutely use them. Some ingredients that might be good to swap out for low or no sodium options are: beef broth, gravy mix, and canned French onion soup. I am not expert on those diets though so please use your own judgement when it comes to making those swaps. Can I cook the pork chops a bit first? Yes, you can brown the pork chops in a little bit of oil first to add more color. What size pork chops should I use? I like to use bone-in pork loin chops for this that are about ½ inch thick, but you can use boneless pork chops. Just make sure they aren’t the thin cut style. Can I make this with chicken instead? Yes, this can be made with different cuts of chicken. But, I would use chicken gravy instead and I’d swap the beef broth for chicken broth. The cook time should be about the same, but you can always check the internal temp of the chicken with a meat thermometer. What can I serve with Crock Pot Pork Chops Since this is such an easy protein, you can add whatever side dishes you enjoy. Try some starches and your favorite vegetables. A big salad and some bread would go nicely. Some of my favorite sides with these Pork Chops for Two are: – Bacon Brussel Sprouts– Corn on the Cob– Air Fryer Roasted Cauliflower– Garlic Mashed PotatoesAlso, this does make a lot of gravy so it works really well with mashed potatoes, egg noddles, rice, or pasta to help soak it all up! If you are looking for an all-in-one meal, try my Crock Pot Pork Chops and Potatoes. How to store leftover Crock Pot Pork Chops and Gravy? Any leftovers should be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the fridge. Keep the gravy so it doesn’t dry out while reheating. You can keep leftovers in the freezer for up to 3 months too. INGREDIENTS NEEDED: (SEE RECIPE CARD BELOW FOR THE FULL RECIPE) bone-in pork chops – see my frequently asked questions above for different cuts of meat that can be used as a substitute. garlic powder paprika black pepper pork gravy mix – this really works best with the pork gravy mix. I suppose you could use chicken but obviously with this being a pork dish, the pork gravy works best. condensed french onion soup – if you are sensitive to sodium, please use a low/no sodium option. If you don’t like French onion soup, you could get a can of beef consommé to just double up on the beef broth. low sodium beef broth – definitely use low or no sodium with this one since the pork gravy mix and french onion soup already have salt in them. cornstarch and water – this is going to be used to help thicken the gravy. Don’t use all purpose flour as a substitute – you’ll end up with lumps in the gravy. HOW TO MAKE CROCK POT PORK CHOPS FOR TWO: Place the pork chops into a 6-quart slow cooker. Season both sides with the garlic powder, paprika, and black pepper. Sprinkle the gravy mix over the top. Pour in the French onion soup, followed by the beef broth. Cover and place on low for 4-6 hours. Do not lift the lid while these are cooking (they won’t come out as tender). When there is about an hour left in the cooking time, stir together the cornstarch and water. Slowly pour in the slurry while stirring. Cover and place on high until the gravy has thickened. ‘Charlie’s Angels’ Star Cheryl Ladd Releasing Tell-All Book About “Ups And Downs” Of Hollywood

Across four seasons, TV watchers fell in love with Cheryl Ladd as Kris Munroe in Charlie’s Angels and witnessed her becoming a familiar face in the cultural landscape. But for the first time, Ladd is formally telling her story in her words with a tell-all book about her journey through Hollywood, the hurdles she’s had to push through, and the lessons every bump in the road has taught her. Ladd will be celebrating her 73rd birthday this July, and although stepping in for Farrah Fawcett in the ABC crime drama remains one of Ladd’s most famous gigs, she’s kept herself very busy in the industry to this day. Her most recent television credit comes from a 2015 episode of Ray Donovan, while in film, she can most recently be spotted in 2021’s A Cowgirl’s Song. But for all her time in front of the camera, this book is promising to give fans an open, vulnerable, and candid look into Ladd’s world after over five decades in entertainment. Here’s what to expect. Cheryl Ladd promises a tell-all book about her time in Hollywood, including the good, the bad, and the educational Token Chick: A Woman’s Guide to Golfing with the Boys / Amazon Ladd spoke with Closer Weekly about her work beyond the realm of television and film, exploring her writing career. Closer Weekly noted that as of 2005, Ladd has a book all about golf to her name. That text is called Token Chick: A Woman’s Guide to Golfing with the Boys, which taps into her knowledge as an enthusiastic golfer who frequents the pro-am circuit. There, she discusses her competition experience and her observations concerning how men and women approach the game differently. Google Books calls it “an entertaining and indispensable guide for any woman who loves the sport, or is even just thinking about picking up a club.” RELATED: Cheryl Ladd: 50 Years of Her ‘Angelic’ Life 1973-2023 Curious minds have queried Ladd about any future writing projects, and the Poison Ivy actress confirmed that her next book will be just as personal and insightful as the last. “I’m thinking about doing a sort of autobiography about the big turning points in my life and what I’ve learned,” she confirmed. “Everybody has ups and downs, and I think other people need to hear that. I think we should be real when we talk about our heartbreaks and growing pains.” Where those lessons may come from Cheryl Ladd is planning a tell-all book about her time in Hollywood / Everett Collection So far, Token Chick remains the latest book Ladd has published. However, obstacles are often learning opportunities, and Ladd has discussed some of the most taxing parts of her illustrious career. When asked about her biggest challenges, Ladd replied, “In my career, it was doing four years of Charlie’s Angels with 28 episodes a season.” She added, “Then on my hiatus, supposedly my rest time, I was doing movies of the week and variety shows. I had a 2-year-old daughter, and I was spinning like a clock.” Ladd can pinpoint moments of regret, including the time she missed with her daughter Jordan / ImageCollect That daughter is Jordan, now 49, who she shares with fellow actor David Ladd. The two divorced in 1980, but Jordan has followed in her parents’ footsteps and become known as a quintessential scream queen. However, Ladd has admitted to having regrets concerning Jordan’s upbringing. “I missed so many times with my daughter,” she shared. “That’s why I didn’t do another series for a very long time after Charlie’s Angels, because I really wanted to be with my daughter, Jordan.” Click for next Article The post ‘Charlie’s Angels’ Star Cheryl Ladd Releasing Tell-All Book About “Ups And Downs” Of Hollywood appeared first on DoYouRemember? - The Home of Nostalgia.
