Kansas City Chiefs’ BJ Thompson has been released from the hospital after the young player suffered a medical emergency and went into cardiac arrest during a team meeting last week. On Monday, the 25-year-old second-year defensive end was discharged from the hospital four days after suffering a seizure and going into cardiac arrest, his agent Chris Turnage told NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, calling it a significant step forward in the Chiefs player’s recovery. “The family thanks everyone for their prayers and wants to especially thank the Chiefs medical and training staff for their rapid response and professionalism throughout this situation,” Turnage said in a statement. Last week during a special teams meeting, Thompson had a life-threatening incident and had to be rushed to the hospital. He was put on a ventilator overnight before recovering the next day, WhiskeyRiff.com noted. Our team of that group of people provided CPR for him. He had one AED shock and came back, so he was only in cardiac arrest for probably less than a minute, minute and a half.” “Our players, our security staff — everybody involved, coaches and staff — they were phenomenal in handling the crisis,” Burkholder continued. President Joe Biden paused his pro-gun control speech on Tuesday to defend a pro-Palestinian protester who interrupted the event and heckled the president, saying he was “complicit in genocide” for continuing to support Israel in its war against Hamas terrorists. Special Counsel David Weiss said following Hunter Biden’s felony convictions on Tuesday that no one is above the law in the United States. Jurors convicted Hunter Biden, 54, on all three felony counts, including lying to a federally licensed firearms dealer, making a false claim on a federal firearms background check form, and being in possession of an illegally obtained firearm. Hunter Biden faces up to 25 years in prison for his crimes and up to $750,000 in fines. “Earlier today, Hunter Biden was convicted of two counts of lying on a form submitted to a federal firearms dealer about his addiction, or use of crack cocaine, and possessing a firearm, while a user or addict,” Weiss said at a press conference. “There have been two overarching themes emphasized by the prosecution during trial: this defendant’s illegal choices and the rule of law.” “First, while there has been much testimony about the defendant’s abuse of drugs and alcohol, ultimately, this case was not just about addiction — a disease that haunts families across the United States, including Hunter Biden’s family,” he continued. “This case was about the illegal choices [the] defendant made while in the throes of addiction, his choice to lie on a government form when he bought a gun, and the choice to then possess that gun. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is slated to testify before a GOP-led House committee next month, just one day after former President Donald Trump is scheduled to be sentenced following his guilty verdict in a New York hush-money case. The New York Times reported on Tuesday that the hearing is set for July 12. Matthew Colangelo, a prosecutor who has drawn scrutiny for making the jump to Bragg’s team after leaving a senior role at the Biden administration’s Department of Justice (DOJ), is also expected to testify. “We respect our government institutions and plan to appear voluntarily before the subcommittee,” Bragg’s office said in a statement after bemoaning “dangerous misinformation, baseless claims and conspiracy theories” following the jury’s guilty verdict. Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH), who also leads the Weaponization panel, had been pushing for Bragg to appear at a hearing on June 13 about the DA’s office. Bragg previously agreed to testify, but pushed for a new date because the Trump case had yet to run its full course. The hearing planned for this week is still on, with Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey, former Federal Election Commission Commissioner Trey Trainor, and Baker Hostetler of counsel Elizabeth Price Foley announced as witnesses. At the end of May, jurors returned a guilty verdict against Trump on all 34 felony counts of falsifying business records to allegedly cover up a tryst with adult film star Stormy Daniels as part of a “catch-and-kill” scheme to influence the 2016 election. Bragg praised the jury and said his team followed “the facts and the law without fear or favor.” Sentencing is scheduled for July 11. It remains unclear whether Trump will get any prison time. Republicans have raised concerns about Bragg being motivated by politics, noting how the feds declined to bring the hush-money case against Trump. They also point to Colangelo’s past work, which included leading a civil inquiry against Trump in New York before joining the DOJ. The DOJ responded to a demand by Jordan for information that might show a coordinated effort, claiming a “comprehensive search” of emails turned up no communications between the Manhattan DA and agency leadership regarding the investigation and prosecution of Trump. As he runs another campaign for the White House, Trump is facing three other criminal matters on the state and federal level related to his handling of classified documents and the 2020 election. On Tuesday, during Navarro’s appearance on CNN, the “View” cohost and former GOP strategist defended Biden against former President Donald Trump after Trump told Christian voters that the Democrats are “against your religion,” Fox News reported. ‘It’s crazy for him to say Democrats are against religion at a time when we are led by Joe Biden, who, in my lifetime, is the most religious president I can recall,” Navarro told the host. “[Biden’s] not a Christian conservative. Jackson Women’s Health Organization that ultimately overturned Roe v. Wade, Trump has largely stayed out of the conversation only to say recently that it’s a state’s right issue and abortion will be handled on the state level. “My view is now that we have abortion where everybody wanted it from a legal standpoint, the states will determine by vote or legislation or perhaps both, and whatever they decide must be the law of the land. In this case, the law of the state,” Trump said. Trump said he “proudly” takes responsibility for the Supreme Court ruling that overturned Roe, which happened in June 2022 with a conservative majority he helped put together. He acknowledged that states will have varying degrees of limits on the procedure. The former president also noted that he is “strongly in favor of” exceptions for rape, incest, and saving the life of the mother. “At the end of the day, this is about the will of the people,” Trump said, adding later, “You must follow your heart on this issue, but remember: you must also win elections to restore our culture and, in fact, to save our country.” During his pre-taped address at the Life & Liberty Forum on Monday, the former president urged Christian voters to support him in the 2024 election. “You just can’t vote Democrat.
