Alternative Energy Crowd Gets Desperate After 'Wind Drought' Refuses to Lift

Conservatives, by temperament, tend to embrace most things traditional, particularly when those traditions carry the added charm of quaintness. When it comes to our energy needs, however, most conservatives -- indeed, most modern people in general -- prefer reliability. Thursday, on the social media platform X, in a post that...

Politico Calls For Joe Biden To Commute Prison Sentence For Son Hunter

In a recent article, Politico advocated for Joe Biden to pardon his son, Hunter Biden. On December 12, Hunter Biden will be sentenced for lying on documents about his drug addiction while purchasing a gun in 2018. Hunter will also be sentenced in December for his tax fraud conviction. Politico wrote Biden previously vowed to not pardon his son Hunter but hinted Biden should reverse his decision. “But Biden may have good reason to change his mind — not least of all, because he was effectively ousted as the Democratic Party’s 2024 presidential nominee,” the Political column read. Column: Joe Biden’s final decision will be his toughest – and most personal, writes our senior writer Ankush Khardori https://t.co/8D63OTBe8x — POLITICO (@politico) November 25, 2024   Per Politico: Thanks to President Joe Biden’s Justice Department, Donald Trump is headed to the White House, and his son Hunter might be headed to prison. And believe it or not, the drama will intensify shortly. In a matter of weeks, the younger Biden is set to be sentenced in two different criminal courts. On Dec. 12, he will appear in federal court in Delaware, where he was convicted over the summer of buying a gun in 2018 while addicted to drugs. Several days later, he is set to appear before a federal judge in Los Angeles for sentencing on tax fraud charges, which he pleaded guilty to in September just as a trial was about to get underway. There has been speculation in Washington for months about whether Biden will pardon his son. The question raises a host of considerations — legal, political, practical and historic — that cannot be easily disentangled or reconciled. But, in the end, should he do it? Particularly in the wake of Trump’s victory, Biden is on strong ground — at a minimum — to commute any sentence of imprisonment for his son Hunter before he leaves office. Not a pardon exactly, but an important show of mercy. A commutation would not wipe the slate clean like a pardon. It would not suggest Hunter Biden was innocent or deserved forgiveness for his crimes, but it would spare him potentially years behind bars and avoid further pain for the Biden family. It’s true that this would amount to a reversal for the president. Biden said repeatedly while he was still running for reelection that he would not pardon his son or commute any sentence, a stance the White House reiterated days after Trump’s win. But Biden may have good reason to change his mind — not least of all, because he was effectively ousted as the Democratic Party’s 2024 presidential nominee and now must watch as Trump, who lies more prolifically and corrupted the pardon process more egregiously than any president in modern American history, will return to the White House. Spectators at the 2024 Las Vegas Grand Prix Nov. 22 witnessed a shocking scene—a racer collapsing on the race track, as seen in videos posted on social media. As it turns out, it was a fainting stunt filmed for Brad Pitt’s new movie F1, in which he plays a Formula One driver. The man who collapsed—landing on a thin mattress—was dressed in full racing gear as the Oscar winner’s character Sonny Hayes. While the report sparked concern on social media about the actor’s well-being, the person—who seemed to be unhurt—appeared to be one of Pitt’s stunt doubles. The Oscar winner himself was seen chatting with the performer on the film’s set, People reported. In the film, Pitt’s character is a retired driver who returns to the racing world to mentor a younger teammate Joshua Pierce, played by Damson Idris, on the fictional APX GP team. A mock statement was posted on the group’s Instagram following the fainting stunt.
