Michael Anthony comments Alex Van Halen’s gear auction

The classic Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony, who has been playing with the band’s ex-vocalist Sammy Hagar for a few decades, talked in an interview with Ultimate Guitar about the drummer Alex Van Halen, who recently announced he is auctioning his gear. The bass player said that it seems that Alex will auction everything he has and that it might be really the end of the possibility of reunion to pay tribute to the late Eddie Van Halen who passed away in 2020 at the age of 65 Michael Anthony said about Alex Van Halen’s gear auctiona "I haven't spoken to Alex in a while, probably about a year. And I actually texted him on his birthday this month (Last May), and I didn't hear anything back from him." "But yeah, I was pretty surprised when I heard about this auction that he's going to be holding in the beginning of June. Somebody had sent me the link to it. It appears like he's selling everything right down to his last drumstick. So, I don't know. I really couldn't tell you." "I know that he continues to grieve today over Eddie's passing. And basically, Eddie was the only person that he actually ever played music with." He continued: "I never really knew Alex to be a person to go out and jam with other people or other bands. Unless Eddie was a part of it. Maybe he feels that... Since his brother's gone, he doesn't feel the desire to go out and play anymore. But I can only speculate. When I found out about this auction and started checking it out, it is pretty sad. Because it truly means that it's the end of anything that that could have been as far as tribute-wise, you know?" Michael Anthony said. Meanwhile, Michael Anthony is touring with Sammy Hagar playing many songs from their Van Halen era alongside the drummer Jason Bonham and guitarist Joe Satriani. Besides the auction, Alex Van Halen announced that he will release a book called “Brothers”, which will tell the story of him and his brother. Ritchie Blackmore explains why he left Rock for Renaissance music

Ritchie Blackmore explains why he left Rock for Renaissance music

The legendary guitarist Ritchie Blackmore first left Deep Purple in 1975 and then created his own band Rainbow, which started being heavier and by the early 80s had a more commercial sound. He then reunited with Purple again for the last time from 1984 to 1993, then reactivating Rainbow for a few years. But it was essentially in 1997 that his career in Renaissance music started when he formed the band Blackmore’s Night, alongside his wife Candice Night. Since then they have released 11 studio albums, the most recent one being “Nature’s Light” in 2021. In an interview with New Jersey Stage, the musician explained why he left Deep Purple and ended Rainbow for Renaissance music. Ritchie Blackmore explains why he left Rock and Roll for Renaissance music “The stress was from the traveling to do with rock and roll, the continual trying to come up with different augmentations of heavy riffs which can be boring, I was getting stale playing the same type of music: heavy rock for the sake of playing heavy rock.” “ I have always been interested in melodic rock - melodies in general. Toward the end of Purple it was just being loud for the sake of being loud so when I heard renaissance music - there were so many incredible melodies that struck a chord with me. That was such a relief in many ways so I jumped off the monster train just to play some melodies more organically,” Ritchie Blackmore said. Next Ritchie Blackmore’s Night tour dates June 22 - The Sherman Theater - Stroudsburg, PA 23 - District Music Hall - Norwalk, CT 29 - Berklee Performance Center - Boston, MA 30 - Academy of Music - Northampton, MA July 6 - The Vogel - Red Bank, NJ Besides Ritchie Blackmore and Candice Night, the band is also formed nowadays by David Baranowski (Keyboards), Mike Clemente (Guitar, bass, mandolin), David Keith (Drums), Claire Smith (Violin) and Christina Lynn Skleros (Harmony vocals, shawn, flute and recorder). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m16-Bg9I-Hw&pp=ygUQYmxhY2ttb3JlcyBuaWdodA%3D%3DThe post Ritchie Blackmore explains why he left Rock for Renaissance music appeared first on Rock And Roll Garage.

Sex Pistols announce reunion without John Lydon

Formed in London, England back in 1975, the Sex Pistols changed the course of Rock and Roll music forever with the release of their only album: "Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols", released in 1977. The praised record was a huge influence for countless artists all over the world and it became one of the best-selling Punk albums of all time. With a difficult relationship between the band members the band was active until 1978 and then reunited a few times over the decades, the last time being from 2007 to 2008. Now, the group announced that they will reunite for a couple benefit shows without their vocalist John Lydon, also known as Johnny Rotten. This new line-up will be formed by the original members Steve Jones (Guitar), Paul Cook (Drums) and bassist Glen Matlock. They will be accompanied by the singer Frank Carter (Gallows, Pure Love, Frank Carter and The Rattlesnakes). The shows will happen next August 13 and 14 in support of the campaign "God Save The Venue". The campaign was created in order to save Bush Hall, a small club located in London, which was built in 1904 and was the birthplace of many independent bands over the decades. In an interview with The Sun, the drummer Paul Cook talked about the shows. “We’re going to be playing Pistols numbers cause they need support and they need the money. We thought it would be a great way to stop it going under. "This is my local venue. I grew up in Shepherd’s Bush and I still live around here. It would be a real shame to see it disappear and we want to keep it going. So everyone get down to the gig!” Paul Cook said. Why John Lydon won't be part of the Sex Pistols reunion It is known that the relationship between them and Lydon was never easy. And of course, the singer was not happy at all when Jones partnered with FX to make the 2022 TV show "Pistol", which told the band's story from his point of view. He even sued the band at the time trying to prevent that the songs of the band were used on the show. But he lost the legal battle and the show was released with the original tracks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqrAPOZxgzU&pp=ygUMc2V4IHBpc3RvbHMgThe post Sex Pistols announce reunion without John Lydon appeared first on Rock And Roll Garage.
