Actor Nick Pasqual was charged with attempted murder on Wednesday after his estranged girlfriend, Hollywood makeup artist Allie Shehorn, was stabbed multiple times. Pasqual was charged with one count of attempted murder, one count of first-degree residential burglary with a person present, and one count of injuring a spouse, cohabitant, fiancé, boyfriend, girlfriend or child’s parent, per a press release from the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office. If convicted he could be facing a life sentence. The document noted that Shehorn had “recently filed a restraining order” against her former boyfriend.  Pasqual has acted in projects like “Rebel Moon,” “Poor Paul,” and “National Day Riff.” Shehorn worked on sets such as “Mean Girls,” “Rebel Moon,” and “Babylon.” The pair reportedly met on the set of “Rebel Moon.” Shehorn was stabbed multiple times at 4:30 a.m. on May 23 at her Los Angeles home. Per the report, the perpetrator broke into her home and “inflicted great bodily injury upon the victim under circumstances involving domestic violence” and “personally used a knife during the commission of the crime.” Pasqual was detained at a U.S./Mexico border checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, Texas, the documents said, and is being sent back to Los Angeles County for the trial.  “My thoughts and heartfelt sympathies are with the victim in this horrific incident,” L.A. District Attorney George Gascón said in the press release. “Our office, including our Bureau of Victim Services, extends our support and resources to her as she embarks on the long and difficult journey of healing from both the physical and emotional trauma inflicted upon her. A GoFundMe started for the makeup artist shared the update that she had been moved out of the intensive care unit and was up and walking. “Allie Shehorn is making positive steps to her recovery,” the update said. “It’s still a very long road but she is facing it with courage and determination.” As of Thursday morning, the fundraiser had just over $94,000 worth of donations with a $100,000 stated goal. 

The Louisville police officer who arrested Scottie Scheffler, the No. 1 golfer in the world, earlier this month released a statement after charges against Scheffler were dropped on Wednesday, standing by the version of events he described in his police report while praising the golfer for his “respect.” The four criminal charges, including a felony assault charge, against Scheffler were dropped after Jefferson County (KY) Attorney Mike O’Connell said on Wednesday that Scheffler’s version of the incident “is corroborated by the evidence.” Louisville Metro Police Department Detective Bryan Gillis released a statement shortly after the charges were dropped, saying he wants to move past the bizarre incident as “there are more important things in the world right now,” Wave 3 News reported. In a postscript, he also mentioned his $80 pants which he said were ruined during the incident. “Mr. Scheffler and I agree that there will be no ill will over this going forward. Instead of giving a negative public reaction, he chose to speak with dignity, humility, and respect. My family and I appreciate that,” Gillis said. The detective then blasted Scheffler’s attorney Steve Romines for calling Scheffler’s detainment a “false arrest.” “It was unfortunate and disturbing to hear Steve Romines’ commentary today claiming that a ‘false arrest’ was made and for him to challenge my honesty and integrity. I’d be surprised and disappointed if Mr. Scheffler actually had any part in making those statements,” Gillis said. “To be clear, I was drug by the car, I went to the ground, and I received visible injuries to my knees and wrist,” he added. “I’m going to recover from it, and it will be OK. This is the extent of my commentary on the incident. The reality is that there are more important things in the world right now than a back-and-forth over this. Scheffler said he was told by a police officer to drive “the opposite way with the traffic” to get into the golf club, but moments later, Gillis reportedly told Scheffler to stop his vehicle. The golfer was accused of failing to obey Gillis’ order, which allegedly resulted in the officer being dragged by Scheffler’s car. After Scheffler stopped his car, the golfer was arrested and taken to jail where he was charged with second-degree assault of a police officer, third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving, and disregarding traffic signals from an officer directing traffic. I’ve spent two decades trying to protect this city through some challenging times,” Gillis added. “I wish Scottie Scheffler and his family all the best.” In a postscript, Gillis addressed the $80 pants that he wrote about in his police report, which became the butt of many jokes on social media. “PS…Yes, the department has us buying freaking $80 pants,” he wrote. “To those concerned, they were indeed ruined. But Scotties, it’s all good. I never would’ve guessed I’d have the most famous pair of pants in the country for a few weeks because of this. Take care and be safe.”

Singer Lily Allen made her opinions on smartphones known, saying they were “evil” and that she controls the apps her husband, “Stranger Things” actor David Harbour, is allowed to access. He apparently has the same control over her phone.  “I now have a kids’ phone called Pinwheel. It has no browsing capability and no social media, but you can still have Uber and Spotify,” the “Smile” singer told U.K. based outlet Sunday Times during an interview. “My husband is the caregiver on it, so he controls what I’m allowed to have as an app on my phone.”  “I’m the controller of his as well. Because they’re made for kids, he’s my parent, and I’m his parent. ‘What’s your child’s name? David, aged 50,'” Allen added. The British born star, 39, has been married to Harbour since 2020. She has two daughters with ex-husband Sam Cooper. Allen went on to rail against the effects cell phones have on society as a whole. “The creative side of my brain has been ruined by smartphones. I feel like everyone feels the same,” the singer continued. “I don’t know anyone who could possibly say that the quality of their life is improved by the presence of a smartphone.” “I think it’s destroyed us as a species. It’s horrendous that they’re designed to be so addictive. Some of us have more addictive personalities than others. It’s evil,” Allen added.
