American Airlines Claims ‘Error’ After Blaming 9-Year-Old Girl For Not Noticing Flight Attendant’s Hidden Bathroom Camera

American Airlines is backing away from its court filing blaming a nine-year-old girl for not noticing the hidden camera a flight attendant allegedly planted in the aircraft’s bathroom. A former American flight attendant is accused of taping his iPhone to the toilet seat and then luring young girls to use the airplane bathroom. Attorneys for the airline initially blamed the child, saying in a court filing that any injuries the girl suffered were due to her “own fault and negligence, were proximately caused by [her] use of the compromised lavatory, which she knew or should have known contained a visible and illuminated recording device.” On Thursday, however, the airline distanced itself from that accusation. An American Airlines spokesperson said that external attorneys working for the airline had “made an error in this filing.” “Our outside legal counsel retained with our insurance company made an error in this filing. The included defense is not representative of our airline and we have directed it be amended this morning,” the spokesperson said. “We do not believe this child is at fault and we take the allegations involving a former team member very seriously. Our core mission is to care for people — and the foundation of that is the safety and security of our customers and team.” The 9-year-old’s family sued American Airlines after the FBI informed them that videos of their daughter were found on the former flight attendant’s phone. The family had flown from Texas to California last year. The fired flight attendant, Estes Carter Thompson III, 36, pled not guilty this week to charges of attempted sexual exploitation of children and possession of images of child sexual abuse. CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP Thomas is accused of having recordings of four girls, including the nine-year-old, using bathrooms on flights. He is also accused of trying to secretly record a video of a 14-year-old girl using the bathroom on a flight from Charlotte, North Carolina, to Boston. He was arrested in January and has remained in federal custody since then. The court filing was amended on Wednesday. The new filing does not include the accusation that the girl’s injuries were her own fault. The case is making its way through a state district court in Austin. On Tuesday, an attorney representing the 9-year-old, as well as the 14-year-old, excoriated the airline’s defense. “To blame a 9 year old for being filmed while using the airplane bathroom is both shocking and outrageous,” attorney Paul Llewellyn said. “In my opinion this is a depraved legal strategy that sinks to a new low. American Airlines should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves,” he added. The 9-year-old’s mother said in a statement through her attorney, “How in good conscience could they even make such a suggestion?” Thompson is due in federal court in Boston on July 1.

John Bolton Unloads On Wolf Blitzer Over Alito Flag Brouhaha: ‘Just Over The Line!’

Former National Security Advisor John Bolton gave CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer an earful when the longtime broadcaster attempted to push a New York Times-based attack on Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito. The controversy began last week with a New York Times “exposé” revealing that an upside-down American flag had been spotted at the Justice’s home in Alexandria, Virginia. Despite the fact that Alito explained what had happened — his wife had hung the flag amid a dispute with a neighbor — the Times immediately concluded that because the flag was spotted in late January of 2021 and Capitol rioters had also carried upside-down flags, the only possible explanation was that Alito had supported the riots. Less than a week later, a follow-up NYT report revealed that Alito also had an “Appeal to Heaven” flag — a flag designed by George Washington’s private secretary and commissioned for use in the Continental Navy in 1775 — at his beach house in New Jersey. And because some of *those* flags had also been spotted on January 6th, the Times naturally ran with that as well. But when Blitzer attempted to present that narrative to Bolton, the former U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. quickly called him out. “I first heard of the upside-down American flag as being a Jan. 6 symbol when I read about it in The New York Times about a week ago. I had no idea what was going on in Justice Alito’s wife’s mind when she flew it, but if somebody hadn’t told me that they thought it was a symbol of the Jan. 6 people, I wouldn’t have guessed it. I would have thought maybe she was giving the finger to one of her neighbors, and that may not be appropriate, either,” Bolton said. “But, I’m telling you, it’s getting to a point where people trying to take symbols of American patriotism and turn them against Supreme Court Justices is just over the line!” Bolton continued. “But should a U.S. Supreme Court justice be using these flags that clearly, right now at least, have some political implications, as well as some history there. But, currently, they have political implications,” Blitzer pushed back, parroting the narrative. CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP “They do not! That’s just wrong! That is just wrong!” Bolton protested. Blitzer was insistent: “Well, they do have political implications, both of these flags.” “It can’t — you — well, they don’t have political implications to me!” Bolton said. “And they’re involved in Jan. 6,” Blitzer said, as if that was the deciding factor. “A lot of things were used by Jan. 6!” Bolton observed. “Turning the U.S. flag upside down was used by those who supported the insurrection, as you know, and this other flag —” Blitzer tried again. “No! I did not know that! I didn’t know that ’til I read it in The New York Times!” Bolton said again. “Well, a lot of people did know that, and that’s why it’s controversial,” Blitzer kept hammering the point. “Well, it’s controversial for liberals! No, listen, Wolf! It’s controversial for liberals who have it in for Sam Alito,” Bolton turned the argument on the CNN anchor. “It’s not controversial for me, and I’m as against Donald Trump as anybody I know in this country.” “So, bottom line, as far as you’re concerned, he should not recuse himself for the sake of the country?” Blitzer repeated Democrat calls for Alito to recuse himself on any case related to January 6th — something they had previously attempted to accomplish with Justice Clarence Thomas as well. “Wolf, that’s an unfair question. He should certainly not recuse himself; there’s no indication it was intended to support January the 6th, and I’ll tell you, those who are using this tactic against Alito now, it will come back to haunt them,” Bolton warned. “It’s an American patriotic flag. I support the right of anybody to fly it, period!”

Red State Votes To Make Abortion Pills Controlled Substances As Activists Defy Pro-Life Protections

Louisiana Republicans have advanced a measure that would criminalize possession without valid prescription of two drugs commonly used for illegal abortions. The measure (SB 276), which passed in the state Senate 29-7 and House 63-29 this week, adds both mifepristone and misoprostol to the state’s list of dangerous controlled substances and creates punishment for coerced abortions. Those two drugs are used to end the life of an unborn child in over half of all recorded abortions. While medication abortions are already illegal in Louisiana, leftist activists defy the pro-life protections and ship the pills into the state for illicit abortions. “The purpose of bringing this legislation is certainly not to prevent these drugs from being used for legitimate health care purposes,” Senator Thomas Pressley said, according to the Associated Press. “I am simply trying to put safeguards and guardrails in place to keep bad actors from getting these medications.” Pressley said he introduced the measure after his sister was slipped abortion pills by her husband without her knowledge. The legislation would not make pregnant women illegally in possession of the abortion pills liable for criminal punishment. Republican Governor Jeff Landry is expected to sign the legislation, which was broadly opposed by Democrats, who claimed it was an attack on health care. Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill said she backed the legislation because of the amount of abortion pills being shipped into Louisiana. “I support SB 276 and legislation to add Mifepristone and Misoprostol to the Controlled Dangerous Substances list,” she said. “These drugs are increasingly being shipped from outside our state and country to women and girls in our state.” CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP The Daily Wire previously reported that a nebulous network of leftist groups are shipping thousands of unregulated foreign abortion pills into conservative states to women seeking to end the lives of their unborn children. For less than $100, anyone can order abortion drugs such as mifepristone and misoprostol online without a prescription. Age is not verified, nor is a medical professional ever consulted, meaning anyone, including young girls, can easily get their hands on the pills after brief interactions on a shady website. The Supreme Court heard oral arguments earlier this year about whether to reinstate certain FDA restrictions on mifepristone which were relaxed by the Biden administration. Changes in 2016 and 2021 made mifepristone available by mail and allowed the drug to be prescribed by medical providers who are not physicians.
