Family Of Murdered Professional Cyclist Sues Convicted Killer For Wrongful Death

Family members of murdered professional cyclist Anna Moriah “Mo” Wilson have sued the woman convicted of killing her for wrongful death. Wilson’s parents, Karen and Eric, are seeking “monetary relief (of) over $1,000,000.00, including damages of any kind, penalties, costs, expenses, pre-judgment and post-judgment interest,” according to the lawsuit obtained by CBS News. “The worst day in the lives of Plaintiffs Karen and Eric Wilson and their son Matt Wilson was May 12, 2022,” the lawsuit says. “That is the day they learned that Defendant Kaitlin Marie Armstrong shot and killed their only daughter, Anna Moriah Wilson, affectionally known as ‘Mo.'” Kaitlin Marie Armstrong, 35, was found guilty in November 2023 of fatally shooting Wilson. The jury took less than two hours to come to their verdict, People Magazine reported. She was sentenced to 90 years in prison. Armstrong killed Wilson because the professional cyclist had briefly dated Armstrong’s on-again-off-again boyfriend while the two were on a break. Armstrong’s ex-boyfriend, professional cyclist Colin Strickland, testified at the trial about Armstrong’s jealousy and their “tumultuous” relationship. Strickland said that he had once loved Armstrong but wasn’t sure about a long-term relationship with her, which caused tension. The couple lived together even though they took breaks in their relationship, ABC News reported. During these breaks, Strickland said, Armstrong would confront him if she found out he was talking to other women. In October 2021, Strickland met Wilson at a cycling race in Bentonville, Arkansas. He testified that he and Armstrong broke up shortly after the race. Strickland began dating Wilson when she was in Austin for a race. He then learned that Armstrong had confronted the other woman about the relationship, which Strickland said was “strange and unnerving” since he didn’t remember telling Armstrong about Wilson. When Wilson left Austin for another race, she and Strickland stopped dating but remained friends. Strickland and Armstrong got back together by December 2021. During this time, he would text with Wilson on a “professional” basis – discussing gear, races, and sponsorship opportunities, he said. But to “avoid conflict” with Armstrong, Strickland testified that he deleted his messages with Wilson and changed her name in his phone to “Christine Wall.” CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP On May 11, 2022, Strickland met with Wilson, who was in Austin again for a race. The two went swimming, ate burgers, and drank beer before he dropped her off at a friend’s house. He didn’t tell Armstrong about his day with Wilson but knew Armstrong had access to his Apple account and was able to view his messages with her. The next day, police arrived at Strickland’s home to tell him Wilson had been murdered. He was brought in for questioning, but police soon turned their attention to Armstrong. Police quickly honed in on Armstrong and brought her in for questioning. Days later, on May 14, Armstrong flew from Austin, where Wilson was killed, to Houston, and then from Houston to LaGuardia Airport in New York. From there, she traveled to Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey and then flew to San Jose, Costa Rica. A homicide warrant for Armstrong’s arrest was issued on May 18, the day she flew to Costa Rica. On May 25, a federal warrant charged her with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution. Armstrong was found at a hostel in Santa Teresa Beach in Provincia de Puntarenas, the Boston Globe reported.

Hamas’ Sinwar Supervised Secret Force Keeping Files On Over 10,000 Gazans: Report

Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar intimated the people of Gaza for years by supervising a secret police force that had informants reporting anyone who protested against or publicly criticized Hamas. The New York Times reviewed what it called a “trove of internal documents” and information gleaned from intelligence officials, stating, that Sinwar’s General Security Service — comprised of 856 people — kept files on Gazans against the Hamas regime. Those files targeted at least 10,000 Palestinians in Gaza. A 62-slide presentation on the General Security Service showed that the entity worked to suppress demonstrations criticizing the regime for power shortages and the cost of living. “The General Security Service’s goals are similar to those of security services in countries like Syria that have used secret units to quell dissent,” The Times reported.  “There are a lot of people practicing self-censorship,” Mkhaimar Abusada, a professor in Gaza City told the Times. “They just don’t want problems with the Hamas government.” The leftist group Amnesty International reported in 2015 that “Hamas forces carried out a brutal campaign of abductions, torture and unlawful killings against Palestinians accused of ‘collaborating’ with Israel and others during Israel’s military offensive against Gaza in July and August 2014.” “In the chaos of the conflict, the de facto Hamas administration granted its security forces free rein to carry out horrific abuses including against people in its custody. These spine-chilling actions, some of which amount to war crimes, were designed to exact revenge and spread fear across the Gaza Strip,” Philip Luther of Amnesty International stated. “Instead of upholding justice, the Hamas authorities and leadership have continuously encouraged and facilitated these appalling crimes against powerless individuals. Their failure to even condemn the unlawful killings, abduction and torture of perceived suspects leaves them effectively with blood on their hands,” he continued. Roughly three weeks after the October 7 massacre in which Hamas murdered more than 1200 Israelis, Palestinian human rights activist Bassem Eid said Hamas blocked people from leaving northern Gaza, “pushing people back into their houses, not allowing them to move.” He added, “Unfortunately, sometimes we have more and more casualties among the Palestinians because of such kind of attitude and behavior of Hamas.”

WATCH: Britain’s Ex-PM Torches The BBC For Failing To Call Hamas ‘Terrorists’

Former British Prime Minister David Cameron gave the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) an earful during a recent appearance, excoriating the network for its steadfast refusal to refer to Hamas as a terrorist organization. Cameron, currently serving as the United Kingdom’s Foreign Secretary, spoke with broadcaster Laura Kuenssberg on Sunday. Their discussion came on the heels of a video Hamas released of British-Israeli hostage Nadav Popplewell — along with the terrorist group’s subsequent claim that Popplewell had since been killed by “an Israeli strike.” WATCH: UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron calls out the BBC for refusing to label Hamas as terrorists. “Maybe it’s a moment for the BBC to ask itself again should we describe these people as terrorists? They are terrorists, if you kidnap grandmothers, kidnap babies, you r*** people,… pic.twitter.com/qwWhiwzSxd — Oli London (@OliLondonTV) May 12, 2024 “When you see what Hamas are prepared to do, you just realize, the terrible, dreadful, inhuman people, frankly, that we are dealing with,” Cameron began, and then immediately turned to issue a challenge to the BBC. “And maybe it’s a moment, actually, for the BBC to ask itself again, should we describe these people as terrorists? They are terrorists.” “If you kidnap grandmothers, you kidnap babies, you rape people, you shoot children in front of their parents. What more do they need to do for the BBC to say, look, these are terrorists?” Cameron pressed, listing just a few of the horrific atrocities committed by Hamas terrorists during the October 7 attacks on Israel. “They really are.” CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP The BBC released a statement to Fox News Digital following Cameron’s appearance, claiming that their coverage of Hamas — regardless of what they called the terror group — should speak for itself. In recent coverage of the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas, the BBC has referred to the terrorist organization as simply a “Palestinian group.” “No one consuming BBC News can be left unaware of the horrific nature of Hamas’ acts. We’ve made our long-standing position on this matter very clear — we use the word terrorist when it is attributed to others, such as the UK Government,” the statement read.

Majority Of Students At Top-Ranking Universities Say Anti-Semitism A Problem On Campus

About two-thirds of students attending top-ranked universities say that anti-Semitism is a problem on campus, according to a new poll. The data comes after pro-Palestinian and pro-Hamas protests have roiled university campuses in recent weeks. Administrators have shut down campuses and canceled events over the demonstrations, some of which have taken over campus buildings and resulted in hundreds of arrests. Amid the chaos, 67% of students at the top 25 universities ranked by U.S. News & World Report said anti-Semitism is a problem on campus. Fourteen percent of students identified anti-Semitism as a “huge problem,” and 53% called it a “small problem,” according to a U.S. News & World Report survey. When asked if students feel more or less safe because of the campus demonstrations, more than a third of students, 38%, reported feeling less safe. Twenty-eight percent said they felt “a little less safe,” and 10% reported feeling “much less safe.” “The campus has never been immune from anti-Semitism,” Pamela Nadell, director of Jewish studies at American University, told U.S. News & World Report. “The outbursts that we’ve had since Oct. 7 have a long, long history.” “Every time events erupt in Israel, they trickle out into the U.S.,” Nadell continued. “We’ll see a slow build and then have an explosion. The difference in this moment is the breadth of the explosion.” “In this case, the explosion is ostensibly against the war, but it so often morphs into tropes that are deeply anti-Semitic. And I think what is not surprising but what is so deeply disturbing is that opposition to the war has morphed into repetition of classic anti-Semitic tropes, and it targets not Israel and not Israeli policies, but it targets Jewish students,” she said. CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP Polls suggest that the campus demonstrators’ antics and behavior are sparking a backlash and hurting support for their cause. Results of a Generation Lab survey released earlier this month found that roughly two-thirds of students believed demonstrators should not occupy campus buildings to protest. Nine out of ten students surveyed said that protesters should not block pro-Israel students from parts of campus. Eighty-one percent of students said that protesters should be held accountable for destroying, vandalizing, or illegally occupying buildings.

Jerry Seinfeld Apologizes For ‘Sexual Undertones’ In Animated ‘Bee Movie’

Jerry Seinfeld gave the commencement address at Duke University over the weekend and apologized during his remarks for the sexual content in his 2007 animated children’s film. The 70-year-old comedian mentioned “Bee Movie” while addressing the crowd gathered in Durham, North Carolina, on Sunday. “I made a cartoon movie about bees you may have watched as a child,” Seinfeld said in a video clip that’s since gained traction on TikTok. “If any of you felt slightly uncomfortable about the sexual undertones in the relationship between Barry B. Benson and Vanessa, the florist who saves his life, I would like to apologize for that now,” he added. “I may not have calibrated that perfectly.” Over the years, there’s been a lot of conversation about the nature of the relationship between Seinfeld’s character, a bee, and his human co-star, Vanessa (voiced by Renée Zellweger). This isn’t the first time Seinfeld brought up his regrets about the relationship in “Bee Movie.” “I apologize for what seems to be a certain uncomfortable subtle sexual aspect of the ‘Bee Movie,'” he said during a 2021 appearance on The Tonight Show. “[It] really was not intentional, but after it came out, I realized this is really not appropriate for children. Because the bee seems to have a thing for the girl, and we don’t really want to pursue that as an idea in children’s entertainment.” CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP Prior to his speech, several pro-Palestinian students walked out of the commencement ceremony when Seinfeld was announced as a speaker, as The Daily Wire previously reported. The comedian has voiced his support for Israel publicly as the war against Hamas continues.  Seinfeld received an honorary degree from Duke. His son Julian currently attends the college, while his daughter Sascha previously graduated from there. The stand-up star has recently been promoting his newly released comedy, “Unfrosted,” about the origin of Pop-Tarts. The movie, Seinfeld’s directorial debut, has received mixed reviews from critics. It currently has a 40% critical rating and a 55% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes. “All told, ‘Unfrosted’ is the cinematic equivalent of a kid mixing every cereal from his parents’ cupboard into a giant salad bowl with the hope that a splash of milk will magically blend the various flavors into something palatable,” one reviewer said of the film.
