Gov. Hochul to Control Everything, Usurping the President

The Long Island Press is a far-left rag now reporting that Gov. Hochul and the other Blue State governors are working towards economic, social, political, environmental, and criminal justice, women’s reproductive freedom, gun violence prevention, and a transition to a clean, renewable energy economy—even taking advantage of Biden’s lame duck period of presidency and Democratic […] The post Gov. The House Wins Another Seat: Two Left

The Hill reports that Nick Begich of Alaska has beaten Democrat Mary Peltola, bringing the House to 220 Republican seats to 215 Democrat seats. Ten days after the election, Democrats have 1.7 million votes left to count. There are two seats left that should go Republican if they ever finish counting. The Duarte-Gray race is […] The post The House Wins Another Seat: Two Left appeared first on www.independentsentinel.com.

Dad & Kids Put On Dance Show As Mom Goes To Work Every Day & The Internet Can’t Stop Watching

Feeling seen by their partner and children can be challenging for moms. Sometimes, we feel like the maid, cook, chauffeur, and dozens of other things, which can be overwhelming. Trying to balance home life and work life sometimes feels impossible but knowing that we are loved and appreciated can make a huge difference. Instagrammer Cait Barnsgrove began to feel the enormous mental load of caring for her two kids, her husband, and her job. But thankfully for Cait, her husband, Nick, knew just what to do. As Cait left for work in the morning, the dad and kids danced with her as she left the house. Cait created a video and shared it on Instagram, giving lots of people a boost. View this post on Instagram A post shared by CAIT BRANSGROVE – FINANCE BROKER (@cravingasaving) The Dad And Kids Did Their Dance Every Day To Cheer Cait Up Cait put together a montage of the dad and kids’ dance, captioning the video, “It’s the small things in life.” She explained in the clip that when she started to feel down, Nick and the kids began to dance. “Every single time, it starts my day off with the biggest smile.” But Cait wasn’t the only one. Seeing the dad and kids dance made a lot of people very happy. One follower wrote, “My standards are officially getting higher. SO CUTE!!!!” This person noticed Nick is the real VIP here. “Did someone say walking green flag?” According to this follower, dancing is good for everyone. “Dancing increases endorphins and is one of the easiest ways to start your day in the positive. You get out of your mind and connect with your body. It seems like maybe the whole family is seeing the benefits of morning dance send-offs.” Cait, you are one lucky girl. For a dad to teach his kids to dance and have incredible empathy for those around them is a huge win. You can find the source of this story’s featured image here. When Your Muscles Work Out, They Help Neurons Grow and Heal 4x Faster, MIT Study Shows

There’s no doubt that exercise does a body good—strengthening muscles and bolstering our bones, blood vessels, and immune system—but now, MIT engineers have found that it also has benefits at the level of individual neurons. They observed that when muscles contract during exercise, they release a soup of biochemical signals called myokines. In the presence […] The post When Your Muscles Work Out, They Help Neurons Grow and Heal 4x Faster, MIT Study Shows appeared first on Good News Network.

Trump Can Fire 2.9 Million Federal Workers

Trump Can Fire 2.9 Million Federal Workers

This is a lightly edited transcript of the accompanying video from professor Peter St. Onge. In a very satisfying headline, CNN is reporting a widespread “Feeling of Dread” among the millions-strong deep state—er, federal bureaucracy—that Donald Trump will fire them. In case you’re curious why they used your tax dollars to try to influence the election. CNN kicks off by reporting how the federal workforce is “on edge and bracing for the likelihood its ranks will be purged.” We can only hope. In particular, they’re terrified Trump will impose an executive order known as Schedule F, which would give him the power to hire and fire tens of thousands of bureaucrats who are in “policy-determining or policy-advocating positions. Estimates range between tens of thousands up to 50,000—a solid start to draining the swamp, particularly given policy-advocating bureaucrats are the mother ship of deep state resistance. CNN breathlessly calls it the biggest change since 1883, which is when the modern independent bureaucracy—the deep state—was born. Now, mass firings won’t happen on Day One. For a couple of reasons. First, the Left—and the deep state—will deploy lawfare on a mass scale to shield the bureaucrats who feed them grant money to riot. Lawfare means it’s got to be done carefully. And, second, because Trump doesn’t necessarily have to fire all 50,000—the mere threat that he could fire them will concentrate minds among otherwise hostile bureaucrats clutching their gold-plated benefits and pensions. For this we can look back to one of the greatest presidents in American history, Andrew Jackson. By the way, in his first term, Trump kept a bust of Jackson right behind him in the Oval Office. Jackson, like Trump, was a populist up against near-universal opposition among the elite and the federal workforce. Of course, in 1830 that workforce was much smaller, with roughly 5,000 federal employees, since there was no income tax and no Federal Reserve. Still, they were united in opposition to the populist Jackson. How did he win them over? Easy: he fired 1 out of 5. The rest fell in line. Now, given Elon Musk wants to cut 1 in 3 dollars from the federal budget in his Department of Government Efficiency, we may be looking at even better numbers. Meaning even their dreaded Schedule F is just the first sentence of the first chapter of a wholesale government retreat in the face of the people. Now, going by Trump 1.0, the bureaucrats will fight with everything they’ve got, using a raft of civil service privileges imposed over a century. But the Consitution is very clear—Article 2, Section 1 vests all executive power in one single person—the sitting president. And the two main Supreme Court cases that interpreted the provision said the president can fire any political appointment (Myers, 1926). A 1935 case (Humphrey’s Executor) says he can fire anybody in a so-called executive agency, which is nearly 97% of federal workers. Put them together, and the Constitution says whatever pretty laws Congress passes to shield bureaucrats from voters, Trump can fire roughly 2.9 million of them. Beyond the opportunity to use former bureaucrats to pick fruit when illegals go home, a 97% headcount reduction should give Elon lots to work with on the way to cutting $2 trillion in spending. So what’s next? In many ways, Trump 1.0 got played by the deep state. But its sheer savagery these past four years has opened his eyes. Millions of deep-state minions are right to feel a deep sense of dread as they dust off the resume and consider what useful things they might do in life. We publish a variety of perspectives. Elon Musk’s X Sues California Over Deepfake Law Seen as Threat to Free Speech

If you're tired of censorship and dystopian threats against civil liberties, subscribe to Reclaim The Net. Elon Musk’s X has initiated legal action against the state of California, seeking to prevent the enforcement of a new statute mandating that major online platforms either remove or label deepfake election-related content, as a violation of the First Amendment, particularly for its impact on memes and satire. We obtained a copy of the lawsuit for you here. The legal challenge was presented in a federal court earlier this week, focusing on legislation designed to curb the influence of artificially altered videos, images, and sounds, collectively known as deepfakes. The legislation is poised to become effective on January 1. The law in question, Assembly Bill 2655, was signed as part of California’s efforts to safeguard the integrity of the upcoming 2024 US presidential election from the risks posed by technological manipulation. Governor Gavin Newsom, having clashed with Musk following Musk’s sharing of a parody video of Vice President Kamala Harris, aims to mitigate these alleged risks. The legislation has sparked concerns among tech giants and free speech supporters, who understand that it suppresses user engagement and stifles free discourse and satire under the guise of curbing misinformation. X’s legal challenge raises critical questions about the boundaries of free speech in the digital age, arguing that the law violates the First Amendment and Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, which protects platforms from liability for user-generated content. By requiring platforms like X to preemptively label or remove content, the law, as X contends, “will inevitably result in the censorship of wide swaths of valuable political speech and commentary.” “AB 2655 requires large online platforms like X, the platform owned by X Corp. (collectively, the ‘covered platforms’), to remove and alter (with a label) — and to create a reporting mechanism to facilitate the removal and alteration of — certain content about candidates for elective office, elections officials, and elected officials, of which the State of California disapproves and deems to be ‘materially deceptive,’” the complaint reads. The complaint also states that “this system will inevitably result in the censorship of wide swaths of valuable political speech and commentary and will limit the type of ‘uninhibited, robust, and wide-open’ ‘debate on public issues’ that core First Amendment protections are designed to ensure.” It goes on to say, “AB 2655 imposes a prior restraint on speech because it provides, pursuant to Sections 20515(b) and 20516, expedited causes of action under Section 35 of the California Code of Civil Procedure through which political speech can be enjoined before there occurs a ‘final judicial determination’ that the ‘speech is unprotected.'” Finally, it states, “AB 2655 violates the First Amendment of the United States Constitution and Article I, Section 2, of the California Constitution, both facially and as-applied to X Corp. AB 2655 imposes a prior restraint on speech that forces platforms to censor only certain election-related content of which the State of California disapproves and also directly and impermissibly interferes with the constitutionally protected content-moderation speech rights of covered social media platforms, like X.” The implications for satire are particularly severe, as highlighted by the case of the parody Harris videos. Although Governor Newsom’s office insists that AB 2655, also known as the Defending Democracy from Deepfake Deception Act of 2024, says it exempts parody and satire, the practical application of this exemption is murky at best since it was a parody video that was the impetus for Governor Newsom to push for the introduction of the law. Biden Era To End With a Showdown Over Big Tech Censorship Evidence

If you're tired of censorship and dystopian threats against civil liberties, subscribe to Reclaim The Net. As the new administration is preparing to take over in the US, the speaker of the House of Representatives is working to ensure that the Biden-Harris administration doesn’t take evidence of the censorship collusion with Big Tech with it when it leaves. Speaker Mike Johnson and a group of prominent Republican members of the House and committee chiefs have penned a letter to Acting Secretary of Labor Julie Su, recalling that during the transition of power, the Federal Records Act and other relevant rules, in terms of record retention, must be complied with. We obtained a copy of the letter for you here. The signatories “expressly direct” Su to make sure her own department’s records are preserved as well. The letter goes on to explain that House committees have conducted “robust oversight” related to a number of key and contentious issues and mention the outgoing government’s censorship collusion with social platforms as one of these. The Congress that is about to finish its term will continue to work to secure compliance with “many subpoenas with which you largely declined to cooperate,” Speaker Johnson and his colleagues note. At the same time, they add that the incoming Congress and its committees will continue with the oversight, and decide if some of the subpoenas need to be reissued. As for Johnson himself, his efforts around supporting free speech and exposing violations undermining it – that was happening during the Biden-Harris administration – have been praised by free speech groups. Johnson this week secured his party’s support, which has the majority in the House, to continue as speaker for another two years. Among the efforts of the previous Congress to shed light on suspected government violations of freedom of expression is the House Judiciary Committee Staff report titled, “The Censorship Industrial Complex: How Top Biden While House Officials Coerced Big Tech to Censor Americans, True Information and Critics of the Biden Administration,” issued in May, and cited in the letter now sent to Acting Labor Secretary Su. Recently, lawsuits, including Murthy v. Missouri, but also the release of Twitter and Facebook Files, offered an unprecedented glimpse into the mechanics behind the mass-scale online censorship in the US.
