'Extreme cold'

Multiple witnesses describe an upright 'bear & man-like' creature seen near Waxahachie, Texas. The descriptions were consistent, also noting that the creature merely flinched when shot!The following account was forwarded to me:In 2010, the witness was mending a fence one evening with his associate near Waxahachie, Texas. The associate got called away, so he decided to stay and finish up. As he worked, he noticed a “large black creature” running (on all fours) across the pasture, some 100 to 150 yards away.He got on his ATV and headed to where he’d seen it. Upon arriving at the spot, he saw it through his binoculars. He noted that it looked like a bear but with notably elongated arms and limbs. As he stared at it, the creature stood on its hind legs and swayed side to side. As it did, it looked directly at the witness, who became spooked. The beast was man-like and also bear-like, and also strangely resembled a werewolf. “I'm telling you it's the weirdest thing,” he recalled.Eventually, the creature began running (on two legs) directly at him and he left the area. The witness discovered that the son of the man who owned the farm for which the witness was employed had a run-in with a strange creature on the property that frightened him so badly he would not venture out to the pasture anymore. There had been a spate of cattle deaths, as well.Another woman who lived on the property had been out riding one evening when her horse became spooked and bucked her off. She looked to find out what frightened the animal and observed two creatures on the other side of the fence. They stood 6 and a half feet tall. The shoulders, arms, and legs were man-like yet the head was bear-like, with a rounded snout. She described that it was like “a man mixed with a black bear.” As she lay there, the two creatures continued to stare at her. Eventually, a truck, driven by a ranch hand, drove up and the creatures dropped to all fours and ran off.The original witness would have another encounter with the creature one evening. It resulted in him and some other men shooting at it. It merely twitched and then ran off.NOTE: The witness's girlfriend, when she was 11 years old, had been driving in a car with her father in Comanche, Texas when they ran into a strange furry creature. They exited the vehicle and looked at it. It was injured but still alive. She noted that it was, “A man mixed with a bear” and had human-like eyes. They retreated back to the car and left. In 2011, during the winter in Vermont, Joan had gone to pick up her daughter, Mia, who was just getting off work. It was around 1:45 AM. There was a blizzard and Joan, despite driving cautiously, ended up being involved in a minor ice-related accident which left the vehicle with a punctured tire. They decided to abandon the car and just walk home, as it was less than 10 minutes away.The daughter was the first to notice, through the haze of snow, a figure standing about 20 feet away. “When we got a few feet closer the street light was shining on it. It was this really tall, skinny thing,” Joan recalled. She estimated that it was between 10 and 13 feet tall. Its height terrified them and they immediately ran for home. Through the sound of the wind, both swear they could hear a ‘sinister laughter’ as they ran.They made it to the house and locked the door. They waited up to see if it had followed them. It hadn’t. After talking about the experience for some time, both eventually turned in for the night. At around 4:00 AM, Mia woke her mother telling her that someone was tapping on her window. Both women went and investigated. Joan claims she pulled up the blind and found herself staring into the face of a pale grey or whitish creature with “slanted black eye sockets, not eyes like humans.” She noted that instead of a nose it had “black spots” where the nose should be. “I didn't see any mouth at all.” She immediately released the string, and the blind closed.The police were notified and they arrived within the hour. She did not tell them what they had seen only that they thought a predator had been looking in their window. The officers went and checked. “They walked around the house and returned about 10 minutes later saying they had found odd-looking footprints. They said that the prints left in the snow were really unusual. They said first it was odd that they weren't wearing any shoes and that the footsteps in the snow had an odd shape, almost more like the shape of a hand than a foot and they only saw the impression of three long toes on each footprint, so they said it was the most peculiar thing to them that the footsteps were only outside of Mia's window. Native siblings encounter, what they believe is, a shape-shifting witch with a black-painted face multiple times while driving home at night.I received the following account:"Hello, Sir. I believe I once witnessed a shape-shifting witch! My older brother, older sister, and I were going home for the weekend. We were coming in from Phoenix, Arizona. We had to leave pretty late. It usually takes us 5 hours to get home, which is in Low Mountain near Pinon, AZ.We drove toward Keams Canyon highway and took a certain dirt road that would take us straight to Low Mountain. Before we reached the dirt road we noticed a very old lady walking on the side of the highway with a cane at 2 o'clock in the morning! She had her scarf around her head, a long black jacket, and wearing a green dress. We did not think anything of it but thought it was weird that she was walking late at night on a highway. The reservation is really dark at night and there is hardly anyone driving on the roads. We eventually turned on the dirt road.A mile away from the highway we noticed the same old lady walking on the side of the dirt road with her cane. I freaked out! I started crying because we knew that it was the same lady 15 miles back. My brother stepped on the gas and started driving faster. We eventually got to a highway that took us to Chinle, Low Mountain, or Pinon. We passed the first bridge and we noticed that the old lady was sitting on the highway with her head down waving the cane in the air. Before we could pass her the car just shut down and wouldn't start. The old lady stood up facing the opposite way from us, so we wouldn't see her face and walked across the other side of the road. She turned her head to face us and her face was painted all black. She kept walking and eventually disappeared in the distance. My brother turned the ignition and the car started!! It scared the hell out of me! I was crying so bad that I never wanted to drive through the road again.When we got home we told my parents about it. My Dad said that there was an old couple that lived between the two highways that did bad medicine on people. He also said that her husband had passed on not long ago and that she walks that road every now and then. They had two kids; one of them passed away at a very young age with an unknown cause of death and the other one drinks and huffs. We ended up driving back the longer way which was taking the highway to the junction road and going toward Ganado. It was very real and very scary." I received the following account:"In the summer of 2002, my girlfriend and I were sleeping in my room. We lived near Evansville, Indiana. I stayed with my parents at the time. Their home was in the country and had ceiling windows all throughout the home.Around 2am, my girlfriend woke up screaming and very scared. Immediately I had to cover my ears and my eyes. A beeping/buzzing sound was coming from above our home, however, it was the light that made it unable to see. The bright, intense light filled my parent's 4000 square foot home like it was the middle of the day. I was blinded by the light and so was my girlfriend. We couldn’t see anything and heard a very very loud beeping sound and kind of buzzing as well. Now I was scared like never before. She was freaking out more.I told her to stay in the bedroom and I was going to check on my parents. She refused to leave me. The sound and the lights were very intense. I made it to my parent's bedroom on the first floor (without a ceiling window). I yelled in and woke them up. I said, 'Mom, Dad are you hearing and seeing this?' At about that time standing at the door the lights were gone and the sounds also. They were gone in a split second. I went back upstairs and we spoke about it for about an hour asking what in the world it could have been.One evening here recently I had a dream that on that evening I floated out of my window and it was during that time that my girlfriend woke me up. I guess I never reported it because it was too strange to report. I am not sure if I was actually abducted or not but the image of me floating through my window seems pretty real. The French-language film comes from writer-directors Alexandre de La Patellière and Matthieu Delaporte and, based on the U.S. trailer released today, looks like a compelling rendition of Dumas’ source material. Here’s the official synopsis of the film, if you need a refresher on the story: The target of a sinister plot, young Edmond Dantès (Pierre Niney) is arrested on his wedding day for a crime he did not commit. After fourteen years in the island prison of Château d’If, he manages a daring escape. Now rich beyond his dreams, he assumes the identity of the Count of Monte Cristo and exacts his revenge on the three men who betrayed him. This is far from the first adaptation of The Count of Monte Cristo. The 1844 story has graced the big screen starting with silent films in the 1910s and has inspired numerous movies since then, including features in 1934, 1975, and most recently, in 2002 starring Jim Caviezel and Guy Pearce. Gérard Depardieu also starred as the titular character in a 1998 miniseries. In addition to Niney in the lead role, this 2024 version includes the acting talents of Anaïs Demoustier, Laurent Lafitte, Anamaria Vartolomei, Bastien Bouillon, Patrick Mille, Vassili Schneider, and Julien de Saint Jean. The film premiered at Cannes this May, and is finally making its way across the pond; The Count of Monte Cristo premieres in theaters on December 20, 2024. The show released a preview of the upcoming Christmas special, titled Joy to the World, as part of the BBC’s Children in Need fundraiser. In it, we see the current Doctor, Ncuti Gatwa, introduce the clip, which features him and Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan, who plays a character named Joy (note the reference to the title!) Once the proper preview starts, we see the Doctor deliver some choice lines (“evil is logo” is my personal favorite) as we find out that a nefarious corporation is growing a star seed over Earth’s timeline, an act that may very well burn every living thing on the planet if the Doctor doesn’t intervene. The kicker, of course, is that it takes millions of years to grow a star, and as such, the two are 65 million years in the past. That puts them in the time of the dinosaurs, and we see a T-Rex (at least I think it’s a T-Rex, I’m not a paleontologist!) take a chomp out of the tree house they’re sitting in. The clip cuts off right as the two head toward the dino’s maw. What happens next? We’ll have to wait until December 25, 2024, to find out! I will note, however, that the CGI behind this dinosaur looks much better than previous iterations of the animals in the series—it’s good to see that the reportedly expanded budget is showing up on-screen.
