Don’t Be Concerned About John Thune as Senate Majority Leader

For whatever reason, Donald Trump never endorsed Tim Scott, but Thune and Trump mended their relationship, and Thune fundraised for Trump. In February, Thune said, “I support former President Trump’s campaign to win the presidency, and I intend to do everything I can to see that he has a Republican majority in the Senate working […] The post Don’t Be Concerned About John Thune as Senate Majority Leader appeared first on www.independentsentinel.com.

Senator Questions Whether FEMA Guidance To Skip Trump Homes Was ‘Isolated Incident’

Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) demanded Tuesday that top Biden administration officials determine whether guidance from a FEMA employee for relief workers in Florida to skip homes with Trump signs was an isolated incident. Paul, citing reporting from The Daily Wire, asked Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell to preserve all documents related to guidance instructing relief workers in Lake Placid to “avoid homes advertising Trump.” FEMA has since fired Marn’i Washington, the employee who issued the guidance, saying they believe it was an “isolated incident.” “I write to request information regarding recent reports that a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) official instructed federal employees deployed to assist in the aftermath of Hurricane Milton to withhold disaster assistance from homeowners displaying political signs in support of President-elect Donald Trump,” Paul wrote in a letter. “These allegations of discrimination by FEMA employees based on the political beliefs of disaster victims raise serious questions about FEMA’s ability to impartially administer disaster relief to Americans,” the Kentucky Republican added. On Tuesday, Washington told Roland Martin that FEMA has a widespread policy of avoiding “politically hostile” homes. “FEMA always preaches avoidance first and then de-escalation, so this is not isolated,” Washington said. “This is a colossal event of avoidance not just in the state of Florida, but you will find avoidance in the Carolinas.” MATT WALSH’S ‘AM I RACIST?’ NOW STREAMING ON DAILYWIRE+ Paul, the ranking member on the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, said that the Biden administration needed to preserve all records related to the incident, including when officials first became aware of the guidance. A whistleblower complaint was filed with DHS on October 27, FEMA only removed Washington from her role on November 8, after The Daily Wire report. “While I commend you for your swift action to terminate the employee, this does not appear to be an isolated incident. It is alleged that FEMA workers received similar instructions when responding to Hurricane Helene in North Carolina,” Paul wrote. “This politically motivated discrimination is unacceptable and must be investigated to ensure that FEMA administers disaster relief funds appropriated by Congress fairly and transparently.” He also asked them to provide a list of any other examples of “political discrimination” FEMA may have records of or been alerted to. Paul requests the officials to respond to his letter by November 26. A flurry of federal and state investigations was launched after The Daily Wire reported on the Trump sign guidance last week.

Disney’s ‘Snow White’ Actress Attacks Trump Voters, Tells People To Leave X

Disney’s ‘Snow White’ Actress Attacks Trump Voters, Tells People To Leave X

Disney’s “Snow White” actress Rachel Zegler called on people to leave the social media platform X and attacked voters who picked President-elect Donald Trump. In a series of posts that were screenshotted from her Instagram Stories, the 23-year-old actress bemoaned the results of the 2024 election and Vice President Kamala Harris’ defeat before she lashed out at what she said would be “four years of hatred.” “I shouldn’t be this shocked, but I am,” Zegler wrote in the screenshot. “I am heartbroken for my friends who awoke fear this morning … this loss should not have been by so many votes.” “I echo Ethel Cain’s statement more than anything, may Trump supporters and Trump voters and Trump himself never know peace,” she added, calling it “absolutely terrifying the number of people who stand behind” Trump. Disney’s Snow White (Rachel Zegler) says she hopes harm befalls Trump and all his voters: pic.twitter.com/rEWlpOVZvu — End Wokeness (@EndWokeness) November 13, 2024 “It is a foolish subscription to a false sense of security, of masculinity, of intelligence, of patriotism, and of humanity,” the actress continued. “There is no help, no counsel in any of them.” She then called on people to get off Elon Musk’s app, because he “helped get that man [Trump] elected and you’re giving him business.” Zelger closed out her rant by calling on her followers to focus now on their Democrat Governors and then wrote, “F**k Donald Trump.” Zegler, a vocal left-wing activist, made headlines last year when she faced a backlash over her feminist complaints about the 1937 animated film “Snow White” following news about her taking on the lead role in the remake of the classic Disney film. Months later in an interview for Variety with fellow Disney actress Halle Bailey, Zegler appeared to sing a different tune when she gushed over the original “Snow White” as “a monumental moment in film history.” “The cartoon is so beloved — it’s like a monumental moment in film history. It’s the first feature-length cartoon movie, to the point where it won honorary Oscars, and all these amazing things that happened for that film are the reason that you and I get to sit here today, because it made Disney what it is,” Zegler told Bailey, who starred as Ariel in the live-action version of Disney’s “The Little Mermaid.” The actress went on to veer away from her past comment, saying she “loves everything the Disney company has put out” since its inception. Zegler previously slammed the original story, describing the prince as a “stalker” and made it clear the live-action story she was part of would have nothing in common with the “weird” original 1937 love story. Following Zegler’s remarks bashing the original film, The Daily Wire’s kids entertainment company Bentkey announced it would make a live-action film titled “Snow White and the Evil Queen,” starring YouTube sensation Brett Cooper. ‘I Love The Military’: Michael Strahan Apologizes For National Anthem Moment

NFL analyst and “Good Morning America” host Michael Strahan apologized and talked about how much he loves the military after he was accused of being “disrespectful” during the playing of the national anthem at a pre-Veteran’s Day broadcast celebration. In a video he posted on his Instagram, Strahan said he wanted to address the backlash, saying that not placing his hand over his chest while the anthem played was in no way “protesting” or making some kind of statement. “The only statement that should be made and that I wanna make is that I love the military,” Strahan said. “I’ve always loved the military, and I will always love the military. I do so many programs to help veterans and soldiers. I grew up on a military base with a father who was a major in the Army.” “My brother, my sister, my cousins, they all served in the military — I’m a military brat,” he added. “And so the fact of somebody saying that, you know, I’m unpatriotic, couldn’t be any further from the truth. And if you want the truth, I’ll tell you: The truth is that I was caught up in the moment.” “I’m looking at all these young sailors standing there at attention before the national anthem played, and I’m thinking to myself, ‘How incredible. How incredible to be that young and to know that you wanna do this.’ Strahan continued. “Like, it’s such a commitment, but you’re willing to commit to something that you know gives us our freedoms, plain and simple. I’m just sitting there in amazement.”   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by michaelstrahan (@michaelstrahan) Strahan said by the time he looked back at his cohosts and saw them with their hand over their heart, he had a moment of “somewhat panic.” “I’m like, ‘Do I be the fool that puts his hand over his heart after or do I just stand here with my hand in front of me respectfully?’ Which, that’s what I did, that’s what happened,” he added. MATT WALSH’S ‘AM I RACIST?’ NOW STREAMING ON DAILYWIRE+ “If that offended any of our military and veterans, I apologize to you because that was never my intent,” Strahan said, as he closed out his video noting again how much love he has for those who serve. On Sunday, the “Fox NFL Sunday” show was broadcast from the Naval Base in San Diego, and Strahan’s cohosts stood and put their right hands over their hearts while the anthem played. However, viewers noticed that Strahan instead folded his hands in front of him, and that upset many watching, who accused him of being “disrespectful,” the New York Post noted. On Monday, the former NFL player did not exactly address the backlash and instead posted a message and pictures on his Instagram honoring his father Maj. Gene W. Strahan, Sr. — and all those who serve — on Veteran’s Day amid the criticism. Related: Michael Strahan Breaks Silence After He’s Accused of Being ‘Disrespectful’ During National Anthem

House GOP Sticks With Mike Johnson For Speaker, Picks Successor To Elise Stefanik In Leadership Role

House GOP Sticks With Mike Johnson For Speaker, Picks Successor To Elise Stefanik In Leadership Role

On Wednesday, Republicans picked House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) as their nominee in the race for the speakership in the next session of Congress beginning next year. Johnson received unanimous support in a voice vote, according to reports, locking him in for the full House vote that will likely take place in early January. Hours earlier, President-elect Donald Trump had met with House Republicans on Capitol Hill and told them that he was with Johnson “all the way,” according to multiple reports. The conservative Freedom Caucus, which reportedly had wanted a challenger to Johnson or at least a secret ballot, did not end up putting up a fight against a voice vote, per Punchbowl News’ Melanie Zanona. POLITICO’s Olivia Beavers reported she heard a deal was brokered that would preclude amendments to “punish members” in exchange for raising the threshold for the motion to vacate to nine members. The Republican-led House first elected Johnson to be the speaker in October 2023 after then-Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) was cast out of the role by his peers. Johnson grappled with a Democrat-led Senate and President Joe Biden, but the GOP will control the upper chamber and White House in the next session after 2024 election victories. In his letter to fellow GOP lawmakers seeking their report, Johnson listed a number of policy priorities in line with Trump’s “Make America Great Again” agenda. “The mandate that has been delivered shows that a majority of Americans are eager for secure borders, lower costs, peace through strength, and a return to common sense,” he said. “With unified Republican government, if we meet this historic moment together, the next two years can result in the most consequential Congress of the modern era,” Johnson added. Other House GOP leadership elections took place on Wednesday, too. Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA) and Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-MN) each secured another term in their respective role. Rep. Gary Palmer (R-AL) lost his bid for re-election as Republican Policy Committee chairman to Rep. Kevin Hern (R-OK) while Rep. Blake Moore (R-UT) won another stint as House GOP Conference vice chair. With Trump selecting House GOP Conference Chair Elise Stefanik (R-NY) as his nominee for U.N. ambassador, Republicans voted on who would be her successor in the leadership position. Reps. Lisa McClain (R-MI) and Kat Cammack (R-FL), both of whom just won a third term in Congress, competed to replace Stefanik. McClain won out in the end, reportedly through a 146-67 vote. “I am honored to be chosen by my colleagues,” McClain said on X, adding later: “I am excited to lead our unified team alongside President Trump and [Speaker Johnson] to pass the America First agenda.” I am honored to be chosen by my colleagues to serve as the Republican Conference Chairwoman and I thank my constituents in MI-09 for their continued support. I am excited to lead our unified team alongside President Trump and @SpeakerJohnson to pass the America First agenda. pic.twitter.com/p6unxBkwGS — Representative Lisa McClain (@RepLisaMcClain) November 13, 2024 The GOP Conference chair position, the holder of which “heads organization of all Republican Party members in the House,” has been held by Stefanik since she took over from then-Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) in 2021. McClain, the sitting House GOP Conference secretary, has a 70% in the Heritage Action Scorecard. She was touted by Rep. Harriet Hageman (R-WY) for supporting Trump “early and helped to turn a ‘blue’ state red.” House Democrats are slated to hold their leadership elections next week. In the upper chamber, Republicans picked Sen. John Thune (R-SD) to succeed Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) as leader of their conference.
