Percy Jackson and the Olympians Will Set Sail on a Second Season

News Percy Jackson and the Olympians Percy Jackson and the Olympians Will Set Sail on a Second Season Sea of Monsters‚ here we come! By Molly Templeton | Published on February 8‚ 2024 icon-comment 0 Share New Share Twitter Facebook Pinterest RSS Feed The adventures of Percy Jackson and his friends Annabeth and Grover are far from over. The charming Disney+ adaptation of Rick Riordan’s middle-grade novels has officially been renewed for a second season—which will find them messing about in boats in The Sea of Monsters. According to Disney‚ the first season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians has been streamed for more than 11o million hours. The adaptation stars Walker Scobell as Percy‚ Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth‚ Aryan Simhadri as Grover—and a whole host of well-known adult actors as various gods‚ goddesses‚ and monsters‚ including Lin-Manuel Miranda as Hermes‚ Toby Stephens as Poseidon‚ Megan Mullally as the fury Alecto‚ Jason Mantzoukas as Dionysus‚ Glynn Turman as Chiron‚ and Virginia Kull as Percy’s extremely wonderful mom‚ Sally Jackson. The late Lance Reddick appeared in the first season’s finale as a very elegant Zeus. The adaptation was created by Rick Riordan and Jonathan E. Steinberg; Steinberg is co-showrunner alongside Dan Shotz. Steinberg and Shotz also worked together on the brilliant‚ underseen pirate series Black Sails‚ meaning they have some idea what they’re in for as Percy Jackson tackles the watery setting of much of The Sea of Monsters. “Despite the fact that I swore I’d never do ships or ocean again‚ somehow the universe has put the lie to that. But there’s so much that you learn from spending all that time on the water. You can’t help it pick up some things. So we’re to the good in that direction at least‚” Steinberg told The Hollywood Reporter. The first season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians is available on Disney Plus. No premiere date‚ or even year‚ has been announced for season two.[end-mark] The post <;i>;Percy Jackson and the Olympians<;/i>; Will Set Sail on a Second Season appeared first on Reactor.

Perhaps tomorrow I will wake up not a person at all.”From the “master of literary horror” (GQ) comes a collection of new stories tracing the limits and consequences of artificial intelligence and “post-human” relationships. Populated by twins stepping into worlds of absence‚ bears who lick their cubs into creation‚ and artificial beings haunted by their less-than-human nature‚ each page sketches a world where our all-too-real feelings of isolation and ecological dread take on an otherworldly tinge. In Good Night‚ Sleep Tight‚ Brian Evenson deftly weaves ethical dilemmas‚ maternal warmth‚ and echoes of apocalypse into his most tender‚ disquieting book yet. Moana 2 Will Sail Into Theaters Later This Year

News Moana 2 Moana 2 Will Sail Into Theaters Later This Year Prepare to get a whole new bunch of songs stuck in your head By Molly Templeton | Published on February 8‚ 2024 icon-comment 0 Share New Share Twitter Facebook Pinterest RSS Feed Pause Play Surprise! A sequel to Moana is not just in the works—it’s coming to theaters later this year. What was originally intended to be a Moana series has been transformed into Moana 2‚ on account of Disney boss Bob Iger “was impressed with the footage‚” according to Variety. I said “surprise‚” but a Disney sequel is never really a surprise‚ is it? It’s just somewhat surprising how soon this one will be here; it’s set for release on November 27th. Here’s the synopsis: Walt Disney Animation Studios’ epic animated musical Moana 2 takes audiences on an expansive new voyage with Moana‚ Maui and a brand-new crew of unlikely seafarers. After receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors‚ Moana must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous‚ long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced. Variety notes that AuliÊ»i Cravalho‚ the original voice of Moana‚ is expected to return for Moana 2. At the end of the tiny teaser released for the film‚ you can briefly head Dwayne Johnson‚ aka The Rock‚ voicing his character’s signature call. The sequel is directed by Dave Derrick Jr.‚ who was a story artist on the first Moana. Its music will be provided by Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear‚ along with Opetaia FoaÊ»i and Mark Mancina. Moana 2 is not to be confused with the also-in-the-works live-action “reimagining” of Moana‚ which was announced last year and which will definitely feature Johnson as Maui. Cravalho‚ who’s now in her twenties‚ will not star in that film‚ but is an executive producer on it. Five Animated Series You Really Shouldn’t Miss

Lists animation Five Animated Series You Really Shouldn’t Miss If you love groundbreaking animated storytelling‚ these shows are for you… By Cole Rush | Published on February 8‚ 2024 icon-comment 0 Share New Share Twitter Facebook Pinterest RSS Feed Hello‚ fellow fans of animation! A new year’s worth of entertainment is already well underway‚ and it will undoubtedly bring oodles of new shows‚ games‚ and stories for our narrative-obsessed minds to ponder. For a moment‚ though‚ let’s take a little time to look back at some excellent shows you might have missed—the past few years have brimmed with amazing series. So many‚ in fact‚ that you might have let a gem slip you by… Here are five extraordinary animated series you might have missed. Unicorn: Warriors Eternal Fans of animated shows will almost certainly recognize the name Genndy Tartakovsky. He created Dexter’s Laboratory‚ Samurai Jack‚ and Primal and worked on countless other well-known animation projects‚ including Star Wars: Clone Wars and the Hotel Transylvania films. Tartakovsky’s latest project is Unicorn: Warriors Eternal (streaming on Max‚ formerly HBO Max) a labor of love that took years to hit screens. The series follows a group of magical beings who return to the human realm (possessing the bodies of their ancestors in the process) to fight a terrible evil…except when it goes wrong‚ a group of “normal” teenagers are overtaken by the spirits and left to piece their fates together. Most of the series takes place in a steampunk version of London‚ providing a brilliant playground for Tartakovsky and his fellow animators. It’s also the perfect backdrop for characters like Copernicus‚ a talkative‚ top-hat-wearing robot whose language is beeps and whistles‚ who quickly became one of my favorites. Fantasy fans will enjoy the unique magic and deep worldbuilding of Unicorn: Warriors Eternal. Though it was released to some fanfare in 2023‚ I haven’t heard much about it in the months since launch. Give it a watch! Scavengers Reign From creators Joseph Bennett and Charlies Huettner comes a must-watch series for any sci-fi fan (also streaming on Max). Crew members of a freighter spacecraft crash-land on an alien world and are separated; they’re left to fend for themselves without any means of communication with each other or their fleet. Their temporary home is inhabited by a variety of mysterious and often hostile life forms. Our human crew must contend with the challenges of a completely unfamiliar ecosystem as they attempt to rescue themselves. Scavengers Reign strikes a remarkable balance between bleakness and vibrancy. The story has a lilting sadness to it‚ as the action is propelled along by the characters’ need to survive. Even so‚ the planet surrounding them overflows with glorious colors and highly evolved life forms perfectly suited to hide from (or take advantage of) the dangers lurking in every crack and crevice.  Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake Perhaps this series’ predecessor is far too well known for Fionna and Cake to make an appearance on a list of show’s that aren’t getting enough attention‚ but I’m going for it anyway! If you are a fan of Adventure Time‚ you should absolutely watch Max’s Fionna and Cake. As a spin-off from the original series‚ the show walks a tightrope in terms of its approach‚ balancing between its identity as direct follow-up to Adventure Time on one side while on the other‚ the characters careen into wholly unique territory where they can flourish all on their own. The result is a fabulous‚ can’t-miss series with all the trademark wackiness of Adventure Time and the surprising depth of character that made me fall in love with the original series. And if you’re here for the lore? You won’t be disappointed. Developed by writer and animator Adam Muto‚ who worked on the original Adventure Time’s ten-season run‚ Fionna and Cake dives headfirst into the same fantastic lore-heavy depths of its precursor. Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts In 2020‚ Netflix dropped three seasons of what is—in my opinion—one of the most criminally underrated animated series ever released. Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts forces or charming and kind protagonist‚ Kipo Oak‚ out of her comfort zone and into a post-apocalyptic world populated by dangerous beasts‚ talking animals‚ and humans just trying to survive. After a sheltered early life in a cushy underground lab‚ Kipo must contend with the challenges of her new surroundings—but she also has a thing or two to teach the people of the broken world. I praised Kipo in an article for this site just over two years ago‚ citing its strong themes‚ character development‚ and commitment to understanding and portraying diversity in its worldbuilding. After rewatching a few episodes for this article‚ I was thrilled to find that my claims held up. Anyone looking for a colorful animated series full of heart and sharp writing needs to look no further: Kipo has everything you need—I just wish it had gotten a longer run. The Midnight Gospel (Netflix) I wavered for a long time on which series to put last on this list. I finally landed on The Midnight Gospel because it’s just so out-there in format and execution that many potential fans might’ve skipped right over it. See the honorable mentions below for the other great shows that almost made the list… But first‚ let’s talk about The Midnight Gospel: the series was co-created by comedian Duncan Trussell and Pendleton Ward (the creator of Adventure Time). It focuses on Clancy Gilroy‚ who hosts a space podcast (in-universe‚ it’s called a “spacecast”) from his home planet‚ the Chromatic Ribbon. Clancy ventures to other worlds—usually to planets in the midst of world-ending crises—and talks with their inhabitants. The show samples actual interviews from Trussell’s podcast‚ The Duncan Trussell Family Hour‚ and by extension‚ The Midnight Gospel often grapples with hard truths and heady themes—death‚ love‚ spirituality…they’re all fair game. My favorite episode features Trussell’s mother Deneen Fendig‚ and a touching conversation about the inevitability of loss. If any or all of this intrigues you‚ I encourage you to take some time to check out The Midnight Gospel. It’s like nothing else‚ and I can hardly do it justice in a few hundred words. Honorable Mentions Maybe you’ve seen all the shows above. Maybe you just want more. Others I considered for this list include the following: Genndy Tartakovsy’s Primal‚ briefly mentioned above‚sees a caveman forge an unlikely friendship with a dinosaur‚ and the animation is spectacular. You can watch the trailer here. Harley Quinn‚ Over the Garden Wall‚ The Dragon Prince‚ and Regular Show are some of my all-time favorites‚ but they all lean a smidgen too far into the mainstream for me to include on the list proper—but if you haven’t seen them‚ they’re all great! And finally‚ Netflix’s Inside Job (trailer here) is an irreverent workplace comedy with plenty of sci-fi antics to boot. Now‚ over to you: What great animated series did I miss? Which deep cuts have I yet to find? Let me know in the comments. [end-mark] The post Five Animated Series You Really Shouldn’t Miss appeared first on Reactor.

How to harvest Acacia in Skull and Bones

In Skull and Bones‚ one of the first quests when reaching Saint-Anne requires you to harvest some Acacia. But you may find this task impossible‚ even when you sail toward one of the many Acacia markers on the map. What gives? Finding Acacia to harvest in Skull and Bones When following the quests in Skull and Bones‚ you’ll be tasked with harvesting Acacia after crafting the necessary tools to do so. Your map will highlight Acacia spots on your map‚ which is rather self-evident. However‚ upon sailing up to the many different Acacia harvesting sites‚ you’ll find the game doesn’t allow you to harvest any Acacia. This is because resource spots are shared for the entire server. If you go to a spot that’s already been harvested by someone else‚ you won’t be able to use it‚ and you’ll have to wait for the resource to respawn. You can tell an Acacia site has already been harvested as you’ll only see tree stumps instead of trees. Screenshot: ...

PSA: Skull and Bones may or may not meet your expectations

It’s no secret that Skull and Bones has had a 10 year long identity crisis during its development. But with the latest open beta‚ we’ve got a better picture of what this game is trying to be‚ and you will have to adjust your expectations. Let’s adjust your Skull and Bones expectations If you’re expecting something along the lines of Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag‚ or a more realistic Sea of Thieves‚ you’ll be bitterly disappointed. Skull and Bones may have started as a Black Flag spin-off‚ but it’s now sailing in its own waters and has its own identity. Screenshot: PC Invasion Many‚ however‚ don’t know what kind of game Skull and Bones is going to be‚ and if you’re going to buy a game‚ you’ll need to know what to expect from it. PSA: Wait to do your Skull and Bones character customization until after the tutorial

While the character customization at the beginning of Skull and Bones is well designed thanks to the water’s reflection and shipwreck environment‚ it fails to let you see your entire character. You should save your time because there’s a much better character customization waiting for you after the tutorial. How to get the better character customization in Skull and Bones Don’t waste your time making a good looking character at the beginning of Skull and Bones. You can’t see your hair that well and there’s no way to see your body which is necessary when selecting a body type‚ tattoos‚ and scars. Instead‚ wait for Vanity Atelier which is available after the tutorial. Your first task is to complete the tutorial. This consists of fighting (and losing) to the British‚ creating a character (which you shouldn’t spend time on)‚ getting a level one Crowbar‚ looting the Exeter shipwreck‚ and sailing to Saint Anne. Once you are in the town or Saint An...

How One Senator’s Command Economy Proposal Could Put Air Travel Out of Reach and Cost Airport Workers’ Jobs

Airline prices—which are already 22% higher than they were two years ago—could get a whole lot more expensive and many airport workers could lose their jobs if a proposed amendment allowing the federal government to set the wages and benefits of airport workers makes its way into a Federal Aviation Administration bill. That proposal from Sen. Ed Markey‚ D-Mass.‚ is straight out of a command economy. It wouldn’t just put the government in charge of the wages and benefits of Transportation Security Administration employees—it would include the ticket counter workers‚ luggage loaders‚ janitors‚ restaurant and retail store workers‚ and virtually every worker with a connection to the airport‚ even though they are employed by private companies. It even extends to workers at off-site catering services from which the food is delivered “to a location on or near airport property‚” according to the language of the amendment. The problem with the federal government setting wage and benefit rates is that it knows nothing about running an airline or a luggage transportation operation or a restaurant‚ hotel‚ or catering service. And when it sets a price that is too high or too low‚ that can cause surpluses or shortages. The government dictates on wages and benefits under the “Good Jobs for Good Airports” amendment will almost certainly be well above the market rate‚ especially after mandated fringe benefits are included. That will lead to higher prices and lost jobs. When private employers have to pay people more to do the exact same thing‚ they have to raise their prices. That reality was clear when the government gave out $600 weekly unemployment insurance bonuses in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. With unemployment paying more than work for many people‚ employers that remained open had trouble keeping their current staff‚ and other employers that shut down had trouble getting workers to come back once they reopened. Because employers had to pay workers more than before‚ they had to raise their prices to pay for it.   But there’s a limit to how much businesses can raise prices before people start buying less of what they’re selling. If a $350 flight and some airport food becomes $425‚ that could deter many people from flying‚ which could spillover to a decline in overall tourism.   And when prices rise beyond what some current customers are willing to pay‚ business slows and employers have to eliminate jobs‚ try to replace workers with automation‚ or even shut down.   That’s what’s happening now in California‚ where the state government decided to empower a local board with the authority to dictate wages for restaurant workers. Over 1‚200 Pizza Hut delivery drivers are among many workers who have and will lose their jobs as a result of the government deciding it needed to intervene to “help” workers have “good jobs.” Higher wages are a great thing if they come as a result of workers becoming more productive and consumers desiring their products. But higher wages that come from government command instead of market demand can end up hurting the people they aim to help and lead to all sorts of unintended consequences. There are better ways to help workers achieve higher incomes‚ such as by expanding alternative forms of education and job training‚ reducing unnecessary regulations so that businesses can invest more in workers‚ and opening doors to entrepreneurial opportunities for lower-income workers by reforming occupational licensing laws that create barriers to entering a career field and allowing all types of workers the freedom to contract.    The federal government has no business setting wages and benefits for anyone other than its own employees. Lawmakers should not exploit a Federal Aviation Administration funding bill to try to become airport wage-and-benefit controllers.   Have an opinion about this article?
