First Image Of Japan's Moon Lander Shows It Hit Its Target But Landed Askew

Japan’s Smart Lander for Investigating Moon (SLIM) successfully soft-landed on the Moon on Friday‚ January 19‚ and was able to deploy two small rovers to explore the lunar surface. But from the get-go researchers suspected that there was something odd – the solar panels were not catching sunlight and charging the lander. Images from one of the rovers have solved the mystery. The lander is on its nose‚ and that’s why it’s not harvesting sunlight. The lander has been placed in sleep mode for now while the two little robots rove around. The communication between them is strong and they can communicate directly with Earth. The team hopes that as the Moon goes around the Earth‚ the change in inclination of sunlight will reach the solar panels even in this position‚ and start charging the batteries again. The solar panels are currently facing west.Estimation of the landing site and the preliminary data from the obstacle detection camera.Image credit: Chandrayaan-2:ISRO/SLIM:JAXAWhile the configuration was not the ideal scenario for this mission‚ the main goal for SLIM was achieved. The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) set out to demonstrate that a space mission can land on another world with incredible precision. The goal was to soft-land within just 100 meters (330 feet) of a specific target area. Based on the current dataset‚ it appears to have landed just 55 meters (180 feet) from the target area. This is an incredible feat. Just for comparison‚ the expected landing site for Apollo 11 was an ellipse 20 kilometers by 5 kilometers (12 by 3.1 miles). The landing ellipse for Perseverance on Mars was 7.7 kilometers by 6.6 kilometers (4.8 miles by 4.1 miles). Achieving such precision is a major leap forward. Initial data suggested that it might have been just meters away but follow-up analysis doesn’t seem to confirm that. More work is needed to establish the exact distance. While the rovers will continue to work‚ SLIM was supposed to operate for a few days on the surface. The way forward is currently unclear‚ and it is very much dependent on how much power SLIM can get before the long lunar night. On the Moon‚ the night lasts a little over 14 days followed by an equal amount of daylight. At night the temperature plummets well below freezing‚ which is often deadly for landers and rovers alike. JAXA will continue to monitor the situation and update the world in the coming days.

Rep. Ted Lieu Cares More About Rats Than Babies

Rep. Ted Lieu Cares More About Rats Than Babies

Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.) recently released a bill that would ban sticky traps for rats. While Lieu has made concerted efforts to protect rats from “inhumane” sticky traps‚ he hasn’t blinked an eye about the inhumane practice of abortion and has been given a 100 percent rating from pro-abort groups‚ LifeSite News reported. Talk about twisted priorities. “Glue traps are among the cruelest ways to eliminate rodents. They're inhumane and can be dangerous to humans and their pets. Pleased to introduce a bill today to place a national ban on glue traps‚” Lieu shared on social media January 17. The “Glue Trap Prohibition Act of 2024” would criminalize the use of sticky traps that do the following according to the bill:  These traps‚ used by homeowners‚ food processors‚ and pest management companies to control rodent populations‚ ensnaring rodents or other small animals as they cross the device by having their feet and bodies stick to the adhesive. Unable to free themselves‚ especially as more parts of their bodies become stuck to the trap‚ the victims typically die from starvation‚ dehydration‚ or suffocation after several days. The process is extremely cruel and painful‚ and it subjects animals‚ whether the intended target or not‚ to a slow and inhumane death. Funnily enough‚ that process sounds a heck of a lot like the process of abortion‚ only abortions deal with human lives and sticky traps deal with rodents. Nonetheless‚ Lieu seems to care more about rats than human beings.  NARAL Pro-Choice America‚ which recently changed its name to Reproductive Freedom for All‚ scores notable figures on how supportive of abortion they are. Lieu received a 100 percent support rating from the group‚ meaning he is unequivocally in support of abortion. While Lieu gained the 100 percent rating from the pro-abort group‚ he was graded an “F” on Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America’s score sheet. Here’s what SBA said about Lieu’s pro-abort tactics: Rep. Lieu has consistently voted to eliminate or prevent protections for the unborn and for children born alive after failed abortions. Rep. Lieu has voted to eliminate prohibitions on taxpayer funding for abortion‚ domestically or internationally‚ including by redefining longstanding safeguards against abortion funding to allow taxpayer funding for abortion travel expenses. Rep. Lieu has worked to allow radical abortion ideology to be inserted into every facet of the United States Government.  When a baby is aborted though an abortion pill‚ he or she is starved to death‚ just like the rat that Lieu seems to care so much about. The baby is then delivered by his or her mother. When a baby is aborted with a dilation and evacuation abortion‚ he or she is dismembered in the womb with instruments and then pulled and sucked out limb by limb. That’s a human being we’re talking about‚ not a rat. While I don’t think it’s necessary to make animals suffer‚ I sure as heck don’t think it's morally just to allow innocent babies to suffer. But‚ Lieu doesn’t seem to care one bit about the latter. What a disgrace.

Trump Supporters Vilified By MSM: MRC's Hamill Reacts On Fox

MRC’s Contributing Writer Stephanie Hamill was a guest on Wednesday’s Fox News at Night with host Trace Gallagher‚ KTTH Seattle Radio talk show host Jason Rantz‚ and California GOP delegate Roxanne Hoge to discuss the mainstream media’s vilification of Trump supporters.  Former President Donald Trump made history with his win in New Hampshire as he’s the only GOP 'non-incumbent' to win both New Hampshire and Iowa— results that have apparently sent many in the media into a tailspin. That is‚ some in the media now appear to be directing their anger at the voters who are supporting Trump.  According to some in the media‚ Trump supporters are a ‘threat to democracy‚’ who ‘want fascism.’  "They are getting so angry‚ they're not just calling former President Donald Trump a fascist‚ they're directing that anger toward his supporters and in my opinion‚ that's is the wrong move‚" said Hamill.    Stephanie: It's just laughable at this point how desperate his enemies are in the mainstream media and the democratic party. What is going on here is they're seeing that the attacks from the mainstream media‚ the weaponization of government and the legal system against former President Donald Trump aren't working so far and in fact‚ it appears to be doing the exact opposite‚ so they're scratching their heads‚ and shaking in their boots‚ wondering what is going on. They are getting so angry‚ they're not just calling former President Donald Trump a fascist‚ they're directing that anger toward his supporters and in my opinion‚ that's is the wrong move. Trace: Yea‚ it really is‚ and Richard Fowler made this point today‚ about that exact fact‚ watch. Video of Richard Fowler: What the president has done and I think it's helped in keeping his base in Iowa and New Hampshire‚ he's created this me equals we frame. IE‚ this is happening to me‚ it's happening to you the voter. Voters seem to appreciate that. In that frame when media outlets like CNN and MSNBC and others cut away from him and say we are not going to cover his speech‚ they add to that frame‚ that everyone is out to get me. Trace: These people believe they are being targeted because they are being targeted. Jason: They are quite literally being targeted and media outlets and some Democrats are not hiding that all. At I think the point is important‚ you not only have them saying we are coming after you and we don't think you are good people and we think you are stupid‚ you want fascism and the world is going to end if you make this decision. But they're doing it at a time when Donald Trump is clearly big targeted with a political vendetta by the Department of Justice and all of these cases coming against him. All of that taken into a whole will mean more people will go out and actually vote for him. You -- what they are doing is ironic because they are getting the base more and more and more excited to support him just to show these people off. Trace: Roxanne Hoge‚ Biden is speaking in Virginia when he's heckled by a pro-Palestinian protester‚ at least it appeared that way. but Biden said it was just a MAGA protester. Video Biden: This is going to go on for a while. They have got this planned. And frankly Donald Trump and the MAGA republicans‚ including the woman hollering. And‚ frankly .. Trace: So everybody you disagree with is automatically -- MAGA? Roxanne: They don't know what MAGA stands for. It means make America great again. Did no one ever watch Footloose . The parents can take away the music of the dancing and what does that make the kids in that town want to do? Dance to music. That is what is happening here. Trace: Biden was accused of election denial and Peter Doocy called him out to Karine Jean-Pierre. Watch the back and forth and we will let you weigh in on this. Video of Biden: Hello‚ Virginia. And the real governor‚ Terry McAuliffe. Video Peter Doocy: How are you guys going to convince people that this idea of denying election results is very bad if President Biden is going out and making jokes like this? Video Karine Jean-Pierre: He did not deny it‚ he did not deny it. This is a president that works across the aisle. We've seen that many times and he was making a joke. Trace: It seems like it made a joke about this Stephanie‚ they wouldn't take it. So it was just a joke. Stephanie: Trace you are right‚ they wouldn't take it and they have shown us that. We've seen this over and over again. It was Al Gore in 2000 who was an election denier and nobody question that. It was Hillary Clinton in 2016‚ also questioned the election and  in Georgia‚ Stacy Abrams‚ last time I checked she still thinks won that election. If republicans question the elections or how it was run‚ then they want to slap you with the legal system and go after you and paint you as a crazy person. It's interesting that they try to laugh it off‚ but we're watching and taking notes. Trace: And the whole laughing at off thing is fine. You could do what you want to do. Maybe it was a joke. It's the whole concept of somebody on the other side made that same comment‚ there would be hell to pay. Jason: Precisely‚ this would be the end of democracy as we know it because someone dared to make a joke. I'm all for making jokes about whatever it is you want to make a joke about. Joe Biden gets to make a joke. The difference is you can't have it both ways. You can't tell me when one side jokes about it‚ oh my gosh the world is ending‚ but when our side does it that's okay‚ why don't you relax‚ why are you so offended. By don't you relax and why are you so offended. Pick a lane. Don't care which lane you pick‚ but at least be consistent. Trace: Yes‚ he's right. Pick a lane. Your last comments Roxanne. Roxanne: I thought comedy had been canceled‚ and the truth is I do care. I like the side that enjoys comedy.

BUSTED: Ad Fontes Labels MRC Blogs Unreliable‚ Removes Ratings When Called Out

MRC Free Speech America caught an anti-free speech organization with its hands in the cookie jar.  Ad Fontes‚ the notably leftist media ratings firm‚ reacted to MRC articles that criticized its left-wing bias by giving these articles unfavorable ratings. We kid you not! The left-wing censorship firm‚ presenting itself as the arbiter of truth‚ pummelled two MRC articles—explicitly about Ad Fontes—with negative scores. In essence‚ Ad Fontes claimed articles accusing its system as biased and unreliable were … biased and unreliable. The joke writes itself. After recognizing how ridiculous Ad Fontes looked targeting articles that questioned its ratings‚ the company enacted a new policy – it will no longer rate articles about itself. Tellingly‚ this decision was only made after being confronted by MRC staff.  MRC reached out to Ad Fontes for comment on Jan. 15‚ 2024. In response‚ Ad Fontes admitted that rating articles about itself looked bad in retrospect. Citing growing scrutiny and an internal discussion‚ Ad Fontes founder and CEO Vanessa Otero declared to MRC that they “decided that moving forward‚ we won't rate any articles that are about us or tangentially mention us.” MRC Free Speech America Vice President Dan Schneider rebuked the fact it required MRC questioning for Ad Fontes to admit its blatant bias and change its policies. “Just like how the Soviet Union judges skewed their scoring in the 1980 Summer Olympics‚ Ad Fontes wanted to be its own referee‚” Schneider said. “To think that Ad Fontes thought they could get away with this reveals its lack of trustworthiness and credibility.” Initially‚ MRC published a bombshell report headlined‚ “MRC ORIGINAL: Media Literacy Firm Rigged to Favor Left-Wing Media‚” which showed how Ad Fontes’ ratings disproportionately favored left-leaning media over right-leaning media after examining all media that it rated in its database. Four months later‚ Ad Fontes limited the ability for outside organizations to access and analyze its data. However‚ Ad Fontes claimed that users can still view its data via its app. Following the change‚ MRC published a follow-up story headlined: “Nothing to See Here! Leftist So-Called ‘Media Literacy’ Firm Pulls Curtains After MRC Exposé.” Ad Fontes inexplicably targeted both these articles to denigrate. First‚ Ad Fontes gave MRC's initial exposé—published on Sept. 21‚ 2023—a scathingly low-reliability score of 5.33. This placed reviews placed the story near what Ad Fontes considers “Fabricated” or “Misleading” content. Ad Fontes later removed the rating completely‚ according to archived links reviewed by MRC Free Speech America. Months later‚ Ad Fontes targeted another MRC article daring to call out the journalism gatekeepers at the firm. This time‚ the company selected MRC reporting on Ad Fontes’s decision to partially pull the curtain shut on its data following our exposé. The MRC report relied on an Ad Fontes mass email telling its subscribers that it took drastic measures to limit its previously available trove of data.  Despite MRC using Ad Fontes’s own words‚ the company punished the article with yet another low-reliability score of 8.33. Similar to when it walked back its review of MRC’s initial exposé‚ Ad Fontes again removed its score for the second article on Jan. 15‚ 2023‚ hours after MRC Free Speech America reached out to the media ratings firm with questions about the increasingly glaring conflict of interest.  The critical ratings of MRC’s articles contrast strikingly with Ad Fontes’s overtly favorable ratings of debunked stories pushed by leftist publications. For instance‚ at the time of the publication of MRC’s Ad Fontes exposé‚ the rating firm gave a high 50.63 reliability score to a 2020 Washington Post article calling the COVID-19 lab-leak theory a debunked “fringe” theory‚ despite Biden’s own Department of Energy acknowledging the laboratory leak at the Wuhan Institute of Virology as the likely cause of COVID-19. Any score above 40 is considered “reliable” by Ad Fontes. As recounted in MRC’s report‚ Ad Fontes also rubber-stamped an article by The Root‚ headlined “They’ll Erase Us from the Future.” With a generous reliability score of 46.0‚ the article baselessly claimed that twice-failed gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams won the 2018 Georgia election. Abrams notably lost the election by 1.4 percentage points despite refusing to concede. Conservatives are under attack. Contact ABC News (818) 460-7477‚ CBS News (212) 975-3247 and NBC News (212) 664-6192 and demand they report on Ad Fontes’s egregious left-wing bias.

White House Press Sec Whiffs on CNN Softballs‚ Says Biden Places 'Equity' at Center of Bidenomics

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre fawned to a friendly face at CNN about President Biden’s “equity”-based approach to his inflation-rattled economy. Cue the canned laughter. During a Jan. 25 interview on CNN This Morning‚ Jean-Pierre harped to CNN Anchor and former White House reporter Phil Mattingly that “[Biden] has put equity at the center of everything that he's talked about when it comes to the economy.” Mattingly‚ who referenced his past experience with Jean-Pierre at the White House‚ offered flattering economic analysis to help Jean-Pierre’s gaslighting along‚ before asking her to respond to a worn-out CNN propaganda line about a gap between how great the economy supposedly is and bad voter perceptions. In effect‚ Mattingly tossed softball questions in the apparent hope that Jean-Pierre would eventually knock the Biden economic messaging out of the park. She failed‚ miserably. “The consumer sentiment numbers have been on the trendline upwards‚ the latest one just about surprised everybody. My question for you‚ as he goes into this big moment‚ in Wisconsin the speech‚ the UAW endorsement‚” Mattingly said before setting up his softball question to Jean-Pierre. “For months you have been frustrated that there's not been a correlation with public sentiment from the top-line numbers‚ that all defied expectations. Do you feel like the corner is being turned right now‚ people are getting it‚ that it's landing‚ and‚ not only will this not be a drag heading into a campaign season‚ this is actually going to be a benefit for the president?” Unbelievably‚ Jean-Pierre stumbled on this regime media question. In an unforced error‚ Jean-Pierre told Mattingly‚ “What we're seeing with the trends‚ the economic trends‚ it's because of what this president has done. He has put equity at the center of everything that he's talked about when it comes to the economy.” This isn’t the flex Jean-Pierre is making it seem to be. A new ABC News/Ipsos poll of 2‚228 adults released Jan. 14 showed what the current “trends” for Biden look like: a majority 56 percent “disapprove” of the way he’s handled the economy so far and a whopping 71 percent said the economy was in “bad shape” due to higher prices and interest rates. Even more damning is that “Biden has a tepid 65 percent approval rating among Democrats for handling the economy‚ a career low.” It could be precisely because of Biden’s multi trillion-dollar‚ so-called “equity”-centered economic policies that exacerbated the inflation crisis that Americans currently believe the economy stinks. Later‚ Jean-Pierre argued that “wages are up” with no pushback whatsoever from Mattingly. In fact‚ real wages went down from the first quarter of 2021 to the third quarter of 2023 from $373 a week to $365 a week.    The recent growth in median real wages to $373 a week celebrated by the press secretary means that Americans have just simply returned to what they were making at the start of the Biden presidency‚ hardly an accomplishment. Mattingly didn’t bother mentioning this. Unfortunately‚ Americans reportedly need to spend an extra $11‚000 to maintain the standard of living they had when Biden waltzed into the White House in January 2021. Unsurprisingly‚ Mattingly didn’t ask Jean-Pierre about this inconvenient fact either.  Conservatives are under attack! Contact CNN at 404-827-1500 and demand the outlet tell the truth about how terrible Bidenomics has been for the U.S. economy.

CBS And ABC Go 'Gaga' For 'Trusted Left-Of Center Conscience' Stewart's Return

The casts of the Thursday editions of CBS Mornings and ABC’s Good Morning America could hardly contain their excitement that Jon Stewart will be returning to host Comedy Central’s The Daily Show every Monday for the rest of the year beginning February 12. CBS was admittedly “Gaga” while ABC hailed him a “trusted left-of-center conscience” for his “devoted fans.” During a profile piece on Stewart‚ CBS’s Vladimir Duthiers included an interview with Chris Smith who “worked with Stewart to write an oral history of his Daily Show tenure.” Smith hyped‚ “By the end of Jon's time at the show he was a major player in the political conversation‚ and he wants to have a voice that's heard far and wide in that conversation.”     Duthiers recalled Stewart’s brief Apple TV+ show before adding “Now his return to The Daily Show includes an executive producer title‚ and with it a likely vision for the show's point of view with the presidential election in focus.” That view is solidly on the left‚ both in Stewart’s time and since‚ but Smith still claimed that “Jon has always been smart enough and critical enough to poke holes in the lies and mistakes and hypocrisies on both sides.” Back in studio Duthiers hyped Stewart’s premier because CBS and Comedy Central are both part of Paramount Global before asking the assembled co-hosts‚ “How excited are we?” Gayle King declared that Stewart’s return “Couldn't come back at a better time… The beauty of him is that he doesn't play favorites. He calls everybody out when he sees fit. That’s--- and he's so smart about it.” Duthiers agreed‚ “This man will have people thinking about things differently” while Dana Jacobson added “He does that so beautifully. I said this earlier‚ the way he uses comedy to draw people in who may not face other issues‚ nobody can do it like him.” Having at least some self-awareness‚ King realized “As you can tell‚ we're kinda Gaga.” Meanwhile‚ Tony Dokoupil claimed “We missed him.”     The definition of “we” apparently includes ABC’s Chris Connelly who proclaimed “From 1999 onward on The Daily Show‚ Stewart making the Comedy Central series into a source of news whose reach and influence exceeded traditional TVs‚ becoming a trusted left-of-center conscience for his many devoted fans.” At least he admitted Stewart was on the left although he tried to inflate Stewart’s non-partisan credentials by playing a clip of Stewart mocking Hillary Clinton’s “dead broke” interview. Variety’s Brian Steinberg asserted that Stewart makes people think in a way others do not‚ “Jon Stewart and his correspondents really‚ I think‚ pressed viewers to be more skeptical of what they were consuming every day and every night‚ and to‚ kind of‚ think more carefully about how they were getting information about the world.” Back in studio‚ host George Stephanopoulos recalled his time with Stewart “It was always fun‚ always provocative‚ always a great conversation and he's not afraid to go out and make waves…I hope he has me back.” As Stewart takes over both in front of and behind the camera the number to watch is 78‚ that is the percentage of jokes The Daily Show directed towards conservatives in 2023. If Stewart really does go after “both sides‚” that number should be quite a bit lower in 2024‚ but don’t hold your breath. Here is a transcript for the January 25 shows: CBS Mornings 1/25/2024 9:04 AM ET CHRIS SMITH: If they were to hire somebody and get a big splash out of it‚ you can't top Jon Stewart coming back to The Daily Show. VLADIMIR DUTHIERS: Journalist Chris Smith worked with Stewart to write an oral history of his Daily Show tenure.  SMITH: By the end of Jon's time at the show he was a major player in the political conversation‚ and he wants to have a voice that's heard far and wide in that conversation.  DUTHIERS: Stewart briefly re-entered the space in 2021 with an Apple TV+ show that ended after two seasons. Now his return to The Daily Show includes an executive producer title‚ and with it a likely vision for the show's point of view with the presidential election in focus.  JON STEWART [2015]: A billionaire vanity candidate taking the escalator to the White House.  SMITH: Jon has always been smart enough and critical enough to poke holes in the lies and mistakes and hypocrisies on both sides.  DUTHIERS: Be sure to see Jon Stewart's return to The Daily SHow on Monday‚ February 12th‚ on Comedy Central at 11:00 P.M. Eastern‚ 10:00 P.M. Central. Comedy Central‚ like CBS‚ is part of Paramount Global. How excited are we?  GAYLE KING: Couldn't come back at a better time.  DUTHIERS: I agree with that. KING: The beauty of him is that he doesn't play favorites. He calls everybody out when he sees fit. That’s--- and he's so smart about it.  DUTHIERS: Right. Right. The landscape in television has changed quite a bit since he left. But I don't doubt his ability to effect change for people who hear his message. He's done it with 9/11 victims. He did it when he was host of the show. This man will have people thinking about things differently. KING: Exactly.  DANA JACOBSON: He does that so beautifully. I said this earlier‚ the way he uses comedy to draw people in who may not face other issues‚ nobody can do it like him.  KING: As you can tell‚ we're kinda Gaga –  TONY DOKOUPIL: Only a nine-year gap in the conversation. Felt like 100 years. I'm glad he's back. We missed him.  *** ABC Good Morning America 1/25/2024 8:36 AM ET CHRIS CONNELLY: From 1999 onward on The Daily Show‚ Stewart making the Comedy Central series into a source of news whose reach and influence exceeded traditional TVs‚ becoming a trusted left-of-center conscience for his many devoted fans.  HILLARY CLINTON: We came out of the White House not only dead broke‚ but in debt.  JON STEWART: I am-- I still get emotional just thinking about it.  BRIAN STEINBERG: Jon Stewart and his correspondents really‚ I think‚ pressed viewers to be more skeptical of what they were consuming every day and every night‚ and to‚ kind of‚ think more carefully about how they were getting information about the world.  CONNELLY: Stewart’s election year of Mondays behind the desk begins the day after the Super Bowl‚ February 12th. George‚ I was just watching some of your Daily Show appearances. What were your impressions of Jon Stewart as a host?  GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS: Yeah‚ I had a lot-- I was probably on a few times while he was still hosting. It was always fun‚ always provocative‚ always a great conversation and he's not afraid to go out and make waves. MICHAEL STRAHAN: Not all. STEPHANOPOULOS: I hope he has me back!
