Former President Barack Obama reportedly expressed “deep concern” about former President Donald Trump‘s “political strength” heading into the heart of the 2024 election cycle. The warning came as Obama reportedly met with President Joe Biden‚ his former vice president‚ over lunch in December and discussed Biden’s re-election campaign‚ “Meet The Press” moderator Kristen Welker said on Sunday. “Underscoring the urgency‚ one source telling me‚ ‘This is an all-hands-on-deck moment‚'” Welker added. Less than a month before the caucuses and primary contests get underway‚ polls generally show Trump with a slight advantage. Biden is also grappling with low approval numbers and questions about his fitness to continue serving while in his 80s. The Washington Post reported on Saturday that Obama not only got “animated” in speaking to Biden about the 2024 election but also suggested to Biden’s aides and advisers that the president’s re-election campaign needs to be given the authority to make decisions without getting clearance from the White House‚ whether the current leaders get empowered or new decision-makers get added. CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP During an interview on Sunday with Welker on NBC‚ Biden’s deputy campaign manager Quentin Fulks stressed that Obama and Biden’s team are “united” in opposing Trump. “We’re going to continue to do what we need to do in order to be competitive and in order to make sure we’re growing the infrastructure that we need to win‚” Fulks said. “President Obama and President Biden talk frequently‚ as do the campaign and former operatives from President Biden’s administration and his campaign.” Fulks also said‚ “The president has been very clear that the experience he got as VP serving with President Obama has been critical to the experience that he brings to the job and what he’s been able to accomplish. But we’re united in the fact that we have to do everything we can to push back on Donald Trump and the threat that he poses to democracy.”

The deputy who took over some of Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin‘s duties last week was kept in the dark about the Cabinet official’s hospitalization for days‚ according to a new report. Defense officials told CNN that Deputy Secretary Kathleen Hicks and other top brass did not learn about what happened to Austin until Thursday‚ three days after the defense secretary was admitted to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. As noted by CNN‚ the Department of Defense (DoD) said Hicks assumed “certain operational responsibilities that require constant secure communications capabilities” on Tuesday. At the time‚ Hicks had already begun a vacation in Puerto Rico‚ and though the report said the deputy planned to return to Washington‚ D.C.‚ on Friday‚ she opted to stay put because Austin was expected to resume his duties from the hospital. Pentagon Press Secretary Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder told the news outlet that it is “not uncommon” for the defense secretary to delegate certain responsibilities without explanation‚ and Hicks made “some routine operational and management decisions” over the past week. Ryder also emphasized that Austin “has no plans to resign.” The DoD shocked the Pentagon press corps‚ lawmakers‚ and even reportedly White House officials on Thursday when it spread the word that Austin had been hospitalized on Monday evening for what the agency has described as “complications following a recent elective medical procedure.” By then‚ according to the statement‚ Austin was “recovering well” and expected to resume his full duties. NBC News revealed that Austin spent four days in the intensive care unit while POLITICO reported Gen. C.Q. Brown‚ chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff‚ was informed about the defense secretary’s situation on Tuesday‚ and acting Defense Undersecretary for Policy Sasha Baker attended a White House meeting in Austin’s place without knowing about his hospitalization. A White House official told Reuters that President Joe Biden has “full confidence” in Austin and is “looking forward to him being back at the Pentagon. But a U.S. official told ABC News that Biden was exasperated by the lack of transparency and that there would be a review of the episode. While Ryder has said there was an “evolving situation” in which “multiple factors” such as medical and privacy issues were considered‚ members of the media and Congress expressed outrage and demanded more information. The board of directors of the Pentagon Press Association‚ a group for reporters covering the national security beat‚ sent a letter to DoD public affairs officials calling the late notice an “outrage” and requesting a meeting on the “troubling situation as soon as possible.” They also said Austin “has no claim to privacy in this situation.” Sen. Roger Wicker (R-MS)‚ ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee‚ released a statement that said “the Department of Defense deliberately withheld the Secretary of Defense’s medical condition for days. That is unacceptable.” The DoD released a statement from the defense secretary on Saturday‚ sharing that he was recovering and expressing contrition for how the situation had been handled. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) said during an interview over the weekend that President Joe Biden’s administration “intentionally” created the illegal immigration crisis on the U.S. southern border. Johnson made the remarks during a Sunday interview on CBS News’s “Face The Nation” while talking about the historic flood of illegal aliens pouring into the U.S. through the southern border after there were 302‚000 illegal alien encounters in December. “We have a humanitarian catastrophe here‚ and‚ of course‚ huge national security concerns‚” Johnson said. “What we saw is in some ways difficult to describe‚ just the magnitude of the chaos here‚ of the number of lives that are adversely affected‚ the minor children that are being trafficked into the country‚ and fentanyl overdoses and poisoning that has been a scourge on the country.” “These are transnational‚ dangerous criminal organizations‚” Johnson continued. “And the maddening thing about it is that the White House is allowing all this. These are policy choices that created this chaos. And it is thus policy choices that could change it.” Johnson noted that the chaos began as soon as Biden took office and started changing policies through executive orders. The host‚ Jonathan Capehart‚ pulled out a tissue and appeared to be on the verge of crying as he introduced former D.C. police officer Michael Fanone‚ as shown in a clip published by Mediaite. “Officer Fanone‚ I’m gonna try to get through this. He was tased by someone in the pro-Trump mob. He suffered a heart attack during the fighting. And in a detail that crystallizes the horror that unfolded on January 6th‚ Fanone recalls insurrectionists shouting‚ quote‚ ‘Kill him with his own gun‚'” Capehart said. “Despite having lived through that harrowing assault and living with the consequences of that trauma‚ Fanone has not stopped defending our democracy.” The host added‚ “He has sought to hold those responsible accountable‚ and he has an urgent message for the American people as the 2024 presidential campaign season gets underway. Fanone told HuffPost‚ quote‚ ‘Ultimately‚ you‚ the American voter‚ will be the last line of defense when it comes to preserving democracy as we know it and ensuring the peaceful transfer of power. A Centre County‚ Pennsylvania resident was at home. While looking out a window‚ toward a pasture‚ he observed a tall hairy creature that was soon joined by two other creatures.In the mid-1980s‚ I was told about an encounter that occurred not too far from State College‚ Pennsylvania (Centre County). A 19-year-old local resident happened to be looking out his bedroom window which provided an excellent view of a pasture just west of his house. It was early morning (about 6:30 am local time) but there was plenty of light to see clearly. He was in the process of getting ready for work.When he looked out the window‚ he noticed a tall‚ hairy creature walking in the pasture‚ coming from the north. The creature was taking long smooth strides and its arms moved back and forth as a human would. It did not appear to have a neck but was capable of turning its head as it was constantly looking around. Except for the face‚ the creature was covered entirely with brown or black medium-length hair. The witness was able to see the face and noticed that the forehead protruded distinctly. Also‚ it appeared the nose was wide and pushed close to the face. The height was approximately eight feet.As the witness observed‚ the creature continued walking until it was south of the house. Suddenly‚ the creature stopped walking when the witness noticed 2 other similar creatures join it. Both were about about a foot shorter than the first. At this point‚ one of the creatures reached down and picked up a piece of lumber that was part of a new shed being built. The larger creature started walking swiftly towards the house until it was within 50 feet of the residence. It stopped suddenly‚ made a few loud grunting sounds‚ and glared toward the window from where the witness was watching.The witness ducked and crawled to the far end of the bedroom. After a few minutes‚ the witness got up and looked out the window. The creatures were gone. Later that day‚ the witness and a friend discovered large unusual tracks in the pasture.It's not known if this incident was ever reported but I do know that at least one local police officer knew what had happened and confirmed it with me. He seemed to be convinced that the witness was upstanding and honest but very private. The witness did move away from the area not long after the encounter fearing that the creatures would harm him.NOTE: This account was told to me by a woman who worked with the witness as well as the referenced police officer. I was in the area (Huntingdon‚ PA) investigating a haunting at the time and happened to come in contact with her. She did say that there were Bigfoot sightings before and after this incident.
