Shocking video from Las Vegas shows a man attacking a female judge inside a courtroom. In circulating footage‚ the man flies over the judge’s bench to tackle her during a hearing Wednesday morning. He entered a guilty plea in a previous hearing. The video shows Judge Holthus denying Redden’s request for probation due to his criminal history and preparing to sentence him to jail time. Redden can be seen then leaping over the judge’s bench to tackle her. He can be heard repeatedly punching her and yelling expletives while security officers attempt to restrain him. According to the Las Vegas District Court‚ Judge Holthus experienced some injuries and her condition is being monitored. The marshal sustained injuries and has been transported to the hospital. Holthus then said‚ “I think it’s time he get a taste of something else.” On April 23‚ Redden “[threatened] to bust the kneecaps” of another man‚ “resulting in substantial bodily harm‚” documents said. In May‚ a different judge ordered Redden to undergo a competency determination‚ records said. Redden was then committed to a state behavioral facility. A judge then found Redden competent in October. Redden pleaded guilty in November. Judge Holthus issued a bench warrant for his arrest in December after he missed a court appearance. Redden was booked into the Clark County jail on new charges of battery and battery on a protected person. One count of the battery-on-a-protected-person charge indicated the victim was “substantially harmed.” He was due in court on the new charges at 9 a.m. Thursday. Voters elected Holthus to the bench in 2018. She previously worked for the Clark County District Attorney’s Office. She often hears domestic violence and sex assault cases.

Those documents include over 150 names deriving from a civil lawsuit against Ghislaine Maxwell‚ who was sentenced last year to 20 years in prison on sex trafficking and other charges for helping Epstein sexually abuse teenage girls. Last month‚ U.S. District Judge Loretta Preska ordered most of the material within 187 entries listed under the pseudonym “J. Doe” be released after Jan. 1. in regard to the suit. In part of that lawsuit‚ Virginia Giuffre accused Maxwell of facilitating her sexual abuse. The case was settled in 2017‚ though the terms were not made public at the time. Preska also noted that anyone who may be named in the documents could file an appeal prior to the documents’ release.
