"For more than 33 years, investigators in Norton Shores, Michigan, tried to figure out what happened to Stacey Lyn Chahorski, a young woman who left home to travel the country and last spoke to her mother in September 1988.
Both cases soon went cold -- until this month.
Authorities with the Dade County Sheriff's Office in northwestern Georgia and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) announced the remains were identified with the help of advanced DNA technology as those of Chahorski and will be soon returned to her family in Michigan.
"Today marks the day where we hunt for the killer now," GBI Special Agent in Charge Joe Montgomery said in a news conference Thursday. "The biggest problem in being able to solve this case is we had no identity of the victim so we had no starting point. Now we have a starting point and that's a big jump for us."

"An arrest has been made in the decades-old murder of 17-year-old Shamar William Washington, whose frozen remains were found dumped in rural Pennsylvania by a group of hunters in 2001.
Online court records confirm that Brian Quinn, 44, has been charged with criminal homicide in connection with Washington's death in early January 2001.
Quinn was arrested in New Jersey on March 10, a day after the formal criminal complaint was filed against him, PEOPLE confirms. But new details in the case emerged Thursday with the unsealing of his arrest affidavit."

Missing teen...

"A suspect in the alleged kidnapping of a Nevada teenager who was last seen in a Walmart parking lot has been arrested, authorities said Friday.
The Lyon County Sheriff's Office said it has also impounded a pickup truck that was "possibly involved" in 18-year-old Naomi Irion's disappearance, which has since spawned a nationwide search.
The suspect was identified by the sheriff's office as Troy Driver, 41, of Fallon, Nevada. He is being held on kidnapping charges.
Meanwhile, the search for the missing teenager remains active, authorities said.
The update comes nearly two weeks after Irion disappeared."
