Russia: actors in photos from "bombed BB"

RELEASE: Russia is accusing New York Times freelance photographer Evgeniy Maloletka of using actors in his photos from the alleged maternity clinic bombed by Russian forces in Donetsk.

According to Russia, Ukrainian model and actress Marianna Podgurskaya plays all the injured women in the pictures from the Mariupol facility.

- Her name is Marianna Podgurskaya, she plays three "pregnant women" at once, made up in different ways, and she also appears in other pictures taken by the same photographer, Yevgeny Maloletka, who depicts the tragedy in Ukraine. This photographer collaborates with the Associated Press, the New York Times and so on, said Russia's UN representative Dmitry Polyanskiy.

Polyanskiy claims that Maloletka appears both in two pictures where she is standing upright, wrapped in a blanket, and in another picture where a woman is being carried out on a stretcher and is wearing green clothes. However, the Russians did not present any evidence that the latter picture shows Podgurskaya.

According to Russia, although it is true that the building was previously used as a hospital, at the time of the bombing it had been cleared of patients and was instead used by the Azov Battalion.

- In this regard, the Russian side believes that it is not possible that any of the civilians could have been harmed here, unless the extremists were holding someone hostage in the building, Polyanskiy said.

The pictures of the incident circulated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky do not show any casualties either. Instead, the bombed premises appear to have been evacuated at the time of the attack.

However, there are plenty of pictures from elsewhere showing how Russian bombings cause many civilian casualties.
