Allegations of non-white refugee discrimination have been firmly denied by both Polish and Ukrainian authorities.

Films from Ukraine have also shown how aggressive men from the third world try to squeeze ahead of Ukrainian women and children on trains.

But several Africans have appeared in the media with accusations that they were prevented from fleeing Ukraine.

Pyra Diantouadi, a Congolese immigrant living in Ukrainian Dnipro, told ABC News that he was discriminated against when he fled. This is said to have happened when he tried to take a train out of Ukraine, where men have been banned from leaving the country.

- They even told us that they would give us weapons so that we could fight for Ukraine. Shall we fight for Ukraine? We are not Ukrainians, we are black. So how can we fight for Ukraine? says Pyra Diantouadi.

He laughs out loud and continues:

- If we fight for Ukraine, we will die first, because we are black. When they see us, they will think we are from NATO and say that they must kill us first.

Pyra Diantouadi then laughs again and shakes her head.
