MEDIA. In "Aktuellt", SVT spread the theory that there are mysterious secret forces behind the truck protests in Canada. Now the state TV giant is getting criticism for the feature.


"Controlled protests?" was the insinuating message when the Aktuellt report on the corona protests in Canada was presented on Sunday evening.

SVT's host explains in the program that "the police say" that "the protests are supported by completely different groups than angry drivers". However, no police officer who says this is quoted or named.

In the segment, the speaker's voice further tells:

- After a week of blockade [...], more and more people are asking themselves the question: Who exactly are those who are demonstrating against coronary restrictions and vaccination compulsion for truck drivers? Cursed drivers and citizens tired of corona restrictions - or are there other groups as well?

However, SVT does not provide an answer to this question, but leaves it open.

"Similar to spreading rumors"
On social media, Aktuellt is now receiving harsh criticism for the feature - even from a liberal point of view.

"What an incredibly speculative element in tonight's Aktuellt. Suggestive questions were asked. Zero answers were given. What was the purpose? Was it more like spreading rumors than information", writes for example Expressen's Jenny Strindlöv on Twitter.

Scurria claimed that his girlfriend tried to cut his testicles off, so he started punching her in the face, according to the Delco Times. He then killed the woman with the machete and cut her head off, police said.
Investigators said that Scurria admitted to the crime but claimed it was in self-defense."
