The arrival of winter with cold and snow was too much for some electric cars whose batteries ran out in Wednesday's highway queues.
Wednesday's snowfall caused stops on the roads, including the E6 at Hallandsåsen between Ängelholm and Halmstad where it stood still for several hours.
Many remained seated in their cars and many with electric cars had to give up and walk when their batteries ran out.

- We have some abandoned electric cars where the rescue service has taken care of drivers and passengers. We will move the cars from the road and then pair them with their owners, says Mikael Salo, road traffic manager at the Swedish Transport Administration, to the state radio .
- It is simply the case that the battery runs out when they stand still for such a long time. They must retain heat in the car.
More expensive to drive an electric car
A few days ago, Samnytt reported that the rising electricity prices had made it more expensive to drive an electric car than a petrol and diesel car.

Electricity for the electric car can cost close to SEK 20 per mile for those who charge when it is most expensive. In the worst case, a fully charged battery can cost over SEK 500, which in normal cases usually costs around SEK 100. In minus degrees, an electric car also consumes significantly more energy.
