It will be a jackpot for the then 18-year-old Arab who in 2018 was sentenced to 4.5 years in prison for kidnapping, torturing and gang-raping two young women in Malmö together with his brother. Damir Ali Ali now receives 840,000 in damages for being convicted of the crimes despite being a child, reports TT.

One woman was abducted by the brothers and raped while being strangled.

A few weeks later, the brothers attacked a new woman, whom they abducted and took to a basement where they tortured and raped her under gun threat.

The younger of the two Arab brothers was sentenced in the Court of Appeal for, among other things, kidnapping, aggravated rape, theft, extortion, illegal use and illegal driving to 4.5 years in prison. The older brother was sentenced to seven years in prison.

The younger Arab then applied for rescission because he claimed he was under 18 when the crimes were committed. The issue had already been tried by the Court of Appeal with the same evidence, but the Supreme Court still granted rescission and concluded in February 2020 that the man was not over 18 years old at the time of the crime.

The man therefore receives SEK 840,000 from the taxpayers because, according to JK's damages decision, he has received an excessively "severe punishment for his age".

The amount will go to the man despite the fact that he would have been sentenced to a long custodial sentence even if he had actually been 17 years old. More specifically, JK believes that the man has been behind bars for 14 months too long.

The fact that the man actually committed the bestial kidnapping and torture rapes is irrelevant.

"She did not want to get pregnant with a 'fucking Muslim' and told them to use a condom in any case", it says in the district court's account of what one woman said when she realized what the brothers were going to do with her.

It remains to be seen whether Sweden will prosecute the woman for insult.
