Image: Loops The fediverse answer to TikTok is on its way. Signups opened this week for Loops, a short-form looping video app from the creator of Instagram alternative Pixelfed, reports TechCrunch. Users who’ve signed up can post up to 60 seconds of video, according to details shared by developer Daniel Supernault on Mastodon. He added that using sounds and remixing others’ videos is coming, as are pinned profile videos, and that users will be able to “curate” their comment sections. Videos can be categorized, but hashtags and mentions aren’t yet supported. The Loops Pixelfed account has posted videos like the one below of Loops in action. I showed you recently how the new Vitals feature in watchOS 11 might help you predict when you're about to get sick. That's not a feature Apple advertises for the Apple Watch Series 10 or any other Apple Watch model that can perform the Vitals readings. Still, users have discovered that some of the Vitals trends the Watch collects are reliable predictors of sickness. Vitals records up to five health parameters, depending on the region and whether you enable some of them: heart rate, respiratory rate, wrist temperature, blood oxygen, and sleep duration. Blood oxygen is a feature Apple can't use in the US on account of a patent dispute. Wrist temperature is a feature that will require you to set up a Sleep Focus every night. The latter turns the Apple Watch Series 10, Series 9, and Series 8 into thermometers of sorts. But there's a big problem with this approach. Apple isn't ready to advertise the Apple Watch as a thermometer, so you can't use it as one whenever you think you have a fever. Also, the Health app doesn't display regular temperature readings. Instead, the Watch shows you a baseline and then tells you the differences between each night. That said, you can see the actual temperature readings that Apple Watch models with temperature sensors register. All you need is the iPhone paired with that Watch. Continue reading... Archaeologists in the Archaeological Zone of Dzibanché, Mexico, have unearthed three ancient relief facades depicting motifs tied to the powerful Kaanu'l dynasty, a ruling Maya lineage represented by the serpent symbol (kaan in Mayan). These newly uncovered reliefs, located in structures near Ball Game II in Dzibanché, date back to the Early Classic period (AD 500-600) and depict symbols of power and ancestry, reinforcing Dzibanché’s role as an influential seat of the Kaanu'l lineage. A team of 98 people, including specialists and assistants, is working on the conservation of the remains. Elliot Mintz has released his new memoir, We All Shine On: John, Yoko, & Me, where he revealed some bizarre details about the controversial couple John Lennon and Yoko Ono. Elliot worked as a radio and TV host and first met Yoko while on the job.  The author later became friends with the Beatles’ bandmate, who he claims was obsessed with being skinny. Yoko also shared this obsession and would keep a refrigerator with nothing but water and hardly edible meals at their Ojai home in Los Angeles.  John Lennon asked Elliot Mintz for weight loss tips  IMAGINE: JOHN LENNON, Yoko Ono, John Lennon / Everett Elliot recalled getting a call from Lennon at 4 am to ask what pills he uses for weight loss. He responded by saying he would go for injections instead, and Lennon immediately asked to procure them because he was trying to stay fit. Lennon had tried every diet in a bid to avoid getting fat like his industry idol-turned-rival, Elvis Presley.  Elliot claims the couple arranged their clothes in department store style according to sizes, with their pants arranged from 28 inches up to 32.
