Foreign. The Turkish preacher Fethullah Gülen, who was both hailed as a moderate religious leader and accused of terrorism, has died.
According to several Turkish media, Fethullah Gülen died on October 20 at the age of 83. His death is confirmed by his nephew on social media and is said to have occurred in a hospital in the United States, where Gülen lived in exile since 1999.
Gülen became a controversial figure in Turkey, where President Recep Tayyip Erdogan singled him out as the mastermind behind the failed coup attempt in 2016. Gülen has denied any involvement, but is accused by the Turkish government of having built a network of infiltrators within the country's authorities and defense .
After the coup attempt, Erdogan carried out a large-scale purge of the opposition. Thousands of people with links to the so-called Gülen movement, or Hizmet, were imprisoned or lost their jobs. The movement has been labeled a terrorist in Turkey since 2016.
The Gülen movement, which was once a strong power factor in Turkey, advocated, according to Gülen, democracy, human rights and peaceful cooperation between different ethnic groups. To his supporters, he is an advocate of peace and equality, while the Turkish government sees him as a terrorist.
Fethullah Gülen remained one of President Erdoğan's greatest enemies until his death.

During a speech in Pennsylvania, a key state for the upcoming election, Musk expressed concern about the personal risks he is taking by getting involved in politics.
- I increase my risk of being murdered by getting involved in politics. So dramatically increasing my risk of being assassinated and getting involved in politics is not something I want to do, Musk said in his speech.
He further emphasized that while he has no "death wish", he feels he has no choice but to get involved.
- I really feel that I have no other choice but to do it.
After the speech, Musk posted a video from his appearance at X, writing:
"With their tireless attack articles, the mainstream media is actively encouraging the assassination of Donald Trump and now me."
He has illustrated the post with a cover from Der Spiegel in which he is depicted and described as "enemy number two".

Elon Musk has not only publicly expressed his support for Trump, but also contributed at least $70 million to the former president's campaign. In addition, through his foundation America PAC, he has launched an unusual venture that offers financial incentives to increase voter engagement.
America PAC has pledged to give away $1 million to individuals who sign a petition in support of the First and Second Amendments to the United States Constitution, which protect free speech and the right to bear arms. The foundation has also launched a voter registration tour in Pennsylvania, with the goal of mobilizing voters to support Trump, with an eye on other key states ahead of the election.
