On Thursday’s installment of  Comedy Central's The Daily Show, host Jordan Klepper claimed to uncover the reason why Kamala Harris is trailing by 12 points among male voters: sexism. Klepper’s unoriginal “insight” led him to claim that “right-wingers” believe that if you vote for a woman, “your penis evaporates.” After a clip of NBC’s Steve Kornacki delivering the news, Klepper sarcastically reacted, “Wow, 12 points! Really? That's a lot. I mean, surely, men would be open-minded about having a female president.”     Klepper then pretended to read a book called The Entire History of Men and came to the conclusion, “So, perhaps this shouldn't come as a huge surprise. There's a reason why America has the same number of female presidents as the Taliban. There's a certain type of person who thinks that voting for a woman makes you less of a man. And that type of person is on TV.” Women, including Republican women, have been getting elected in this country for years and conservative women have led other countries for years, but none of that stopped Klepper from playing a montage of conservative media personalities claiming no real man could vote for a Democrat. Afterwards, Klepper tried to mock what he considered to be conservative hypocrisy on the matter, “Exactly! Republicans are the party of real men. Real, tough men who are strong, and love America, and won't back down, and hate Democrat-run cities because there's so many scary people there! ‘Oh, mama, please don't let me get murdered when I'm crossing the street! Oh, god, mommy, the streets are dirty and there are immigrants! Please, please send Donald Trump to help me, mommy! I'm so scared!’” He added, “That's how a real man feels! But that's what right-wingers believe. If you're a man who votes for a woman, your penis evaporates. And then you just walk out of the voting booth with a smooth mound with an ‘I voted’ sticker on it.” Klepper would continue the bit, mocking what he considered trivial critiques of Tim Walz’s masculinity. He would also team up with Troy Iwata to suggest "ingrained homophobia" has something to do with it. He did not, however, try to come up with a serious explanation for Democrats’ problem because if Harris is trailing by 12 among men, it is not just conservative TV pundits who oppose her.
