Ben Shapiro Dismantles The ‘Rot’ Of American Education In Speech At Yale On October 7 Anniversary

Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro gave remarks at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, on Monday, which marked the anniversary of Hamas’ brutal attack on Israel on October 7, 2023. Around 1,200 people were murdered and hundreds taken captive by Hamas terrorists who crossed Israel’s border last year to carry out the deadliest attack against the Jewish people since the Holocaust. In an interview-style speech with the Young America’s Foundation and hosted by the Buckley Institute at Yale, Shapiro discussed what October 7 revealed about college campuses in the U.S. “I think that October 7 revealed a lot of truths about the world that the West has been hesitant to address. One of the biggest truths was revealed in the days after October 7 when, even before Israel’s retaliation began … there were widespread protests across the West, particularly on college campuses in favor of Hamas, in favor of Hezbollah, in favor of those who would extirpate Israel from the planet,” Shapiro said. “The extent of the rot at the core of American education has been truly revealed over the course of the last year,” he added. “[October 7] is not just a day of mourning; it’s a reminder of what happens when the West goes to sleep on its own principles, when it imports people who don’t believe in the West’s principles, and when it cultivates an entire generation of people who don’t believe in the mission of its civilization.” Yale, along with numerous other prestigious American universities, has been scrutinized for allowing anti-Israel sentiment to fester on campus in the wake of Hamas’ attack on Israel. In a closed-door meeting in June, former Yale President Dr. Peter Salovey was grilled by members of Congress over anti-Semitism on campus. In April, anti-Israel students at Yale demanded that the Ivy League school divest from weapons manufacturers “contributing to Israel’s assault on Palestine,” threatening to go on a hunger strike if their demands were not met. Just last week, hundreds of students at Yale marched and chanted anti-Israel slogans, such as, “Zionism is a crime, from Lebanon to Palestine” and “raise your hand, make a fist, Palestinians will resist… Lebanese will resist.” Am I Racist? Is In Theaters NOW — Get Your Tickets Here! Shapiro said there is still hope for higher education institutions such as Yale, “but donors are going to have to start threatening to withdraw their money.” “And employers are going to have to start looking at degrees from Yale and determining if they are in fact worth the paper they are written on,” he continued, adding, “And by the way, I’m not singling out Yale. The same thing is true of my alma mater, Harvard, which is having very similar experiences. It’s true for most of the major universities in the country at this point.” Don't miss @benshapiro's Yale address, hosted by the Buckley Institute, on the one-year anniversary of the October 7th Hamas attack. He'll confront the Israel-Hamas conflict, challenge campus reactions, and defend free speech. Watch live now:https://t.co/2Al7YHCQqd — Daily Wire (@realDailyWire) October 7, 2024

Shapiro: Oct. 7 ‘Never Would’ve Happened’ If Biden-Harris Admin Didn’t ‘Play Footsie’ With Iran

Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro blasted the Biden-Harris administration on the anniversary of Hamas’ October 7, 2023, attack on Israel, saying that the attack would not have happened if President Joe Biden hadn’t cozied up to Iran. Shapiro made the remarks during a speech at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, on Monday, where he discussed the terrorist attack on Israel one year ago that left around 1,200 dead and hundreds taken captive by Hamas to Gaza. Shapiro said that following Hamas’ attack and Israel’s response, the U.S. “could’ve done something very easy. “They could’ve said, ‘Listen, our allies deserve our support in a time of war. They should be able to pursue the ends that are necessary in order for them to achieve victory,’” he said. “The United States should not be in the position of micromanaging the wars of our allies. It’s a stupid idea in the first place. And it’s particularly stupid when America’s enemies are watching and they see every act of weakness as another sign that the United States is not willing to stand up for its allies in the region.” The Daily Wire host then ripped the Biden-Harris administration for “playing footsie” with the terrorist regime in Iran. “The reality is October 7 never would’ve happened if the Biden administration did not immediately come into office and start playing footsie with the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Shapiro said. “If that never happened, then October 7 never would’ve happened in the first place. The Saudis and the Israelis would’ve likely already signed the Abraham Accords. You would’ve seen the continuation of the budding peace in the Middle East.” Am I Racist? Is In Theaters NOW — Get Your Tickets Here! During a “60 Minutes” interview with Vice President Kamala Harris that aired on the anniversary of the October 7 attack on Israel, Harris refused to call Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu an “ally.” Despite President Joe Biden and Harris criticizing Israel’s effort to thwart Hamas and Hezbollah terrorists in the Middle East, Israel has nearly taken out the entirety of Hamas’ and Hezbollah’s leadership. Shapiro added that now that Israel has “re-established” itself as the military power in the Middle East, peace deals will again be on the table. Hurricane Milton Forecast Shows Up To 15 Feet Of Storm Surge In Tampa Bay

Hurricane Milton, which is expected to hit Florida later this week, could bring storm surge up to 15 feet above ground level in the Tampa Bay area. The National Hurricane Center reported on Monday peak water levels as high as 10-15 feet anywhere from the Anclote River to Englewood, as well as in Tampa Bay. Other places along the western Florida coastline may also get storm surge that pushes water levels up to 10 feet above normal. 4pm CDT Oct 7th Key Messages for Category 5 #Hurricane #Milton: Hurricane Warnings & Storm Surge Warnings in effect for parts of W coast of Florida Peninsula. This is an extremely life-threatening situation. Please follow advice by local officials & evacuate if told so.… pic.twitter.com/E5BwcSi1aL — National Hurricane Center (@NHC_Atlantic) October 7, 2024 A “combination of storm surge and tide will cause normally dry areas near the coast to be flooded by rising waters moving inland from the shoreline,” the agency said, adding that the heights above ground level shown on its forecast map depicted what the peak could be at high tide. Milton strengthened into a Category 5 hurricane on Monday as it moved over the Gulf of Mexico toward Florida. While the storm may weaken before it makes an expected landfall by Wednesday evening or Thursday morning, Milton is still expected to be a powerful hurricane when it does. Officials issued various evacuation orders across Florida’s Gulf Coast, including in the Tampa Bay area where millions of people reside. Shelters have also been opened in a number of counties for those seeking refuge. Hurricane Milton may double the flooding across Tampa observed when Hurricane Helene made landfall farther north in Florida’s Big Bend region as a Category 4 hurricane less than two weeks ago. Water levels in that storm reached more than 7 feet above normal tides and broke local records, according to the Tampa Bay Times. The Associated Press reported the storm surge from Helene killed 12 people near Tampa. The National Weather Service warned on Monday that if Hurricane Milton stays on its current track — meaning landfall could happen around Tampa or somewhere else between the Big Bend and Fort Myers —  it will be the “worst storm” to impact the Tampa area in more than 100 years. Republican Governor Ron DeSantis has declared a state of emergency in dozens of Florida counties and suspended tolls to assist with evacuations. President Joe Biden approved an emergency declaration, unlocking federal resources to assist with Hurricane Milton response efforts.

“Back To The Future” Cast Gets Back Together For Jokes & Fun Pictures Nearly 40 Later

When Back to the Future premiered in 1985, we were whisked away in a DeLorean to the fabulous 1950s, where Marty McFly got a glimpse at his parents’ lives as teenagers. If the movie hit theaters today, we’d go back 30 years to 1995 and see a world of flannels, combat boots, and mixed CDs while cruising in a Cybertruck. But let’s not think about that. Instead, get the flux capacitor fluxing to 1.21 gigawatts, and let’s go back to the 80s. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Lea Thompson (@lea_thompson) Some Of The Old “Back To The Future” Gang Recently Got Back Together At Comic Con Original cast members Michael J. Fox, Lea Thompson, Christopher Lloyd, and Thomas F. Wilson, who played Marty McFly, Lorraine McFly, Dr. Emmett Brown, and Biff Tannen, respectively, participated in a panel discussion about the film. Lea shared pictures on Instagram of the cast looking happy and well. She captioned the photo, “When we all get together it’s pure joy. Thank you wonderful fans and @comicconla we have 2 more days of joyous mayhem #bttf forever! What’s your favorite of the three.” Fans chimed in the comment section, thrilled to see the cast together again. A fan wrote, “Omg! I was there wish I saw you!” This fan had to quote their favorite line. “Obviously one of the best lines in film history: ‘You look familiar; do i know your mother?'” The franchise profoundly impacted this fan who wrote a beautiful dedication. “BTTF part 1 came to the theater near me 8 days after my mother passed away….I was 7 years old and was stunned and lost…the teenager that lived a couple doors down from me was the manager at the local movie theater and she could see how broken my family was so she took me to work with her and gave me popcorn and in I went to see the film….for 1 hour and 56 minutes my swirling brain went quiet and my soul was still….my worries left me as I cheered for Doc and Marty…my sorrow was replaced with happiness as watched George and Lorraine fall in love again….I stayed for the next viewing and went back 5 more times that week…to this day it remains my comfort movie and one of my favorite moments in life was sharing it with my own child…if you’ve ever hoped that your work and art has mattered…I can assure you that it does and has….saved my life and made my kid smile…so thank you…truly….thank you.” This story’s featured image is by Gerardo Mora/Getty Images.
