Elon Musk Makes Energetic Entrance At Butler Rally: ‘Trump Must Win’

X owner Elon Musk had an energetic entrance to former President Donald Trump’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday where he subsequently spoke for several minutes about the importance of registering to vote. The rally was a historic moment for the United States, a former president returning to the very site where three months prior, he was shot in the head by a would-be assassin. Trump introduced Musk, who has turned into his most powerful political ally, by highlighting his recent contributions to recovery efforts in the southeast U.S. where millions are reeling after Hurricane Helene devastated the region. Trump called Musk a “truly incredible guy” who would have a key role in helping return America to greatness. Trump has stated in recent weeks that he will appoint Musk to head a new Government Efficiency Commission that will focus on cutting wasteful government spending as the country looks to avoid going bankrupt after being saddled with tens of trillions of dollars of debt. Am I Racist? Is In Theaters NOW — Get Your Tickets Here! “As you can see, I’m not just MAGA, I’m dark MAGA,” Musk said as he sported a black “Make America Great Again” hat. “The true test of someone’s character is how they behave under fire,” Musk said. “And we had one president who couldn’t climb a flight of stairs, and another who was fist pumping after getting shot.” “Who do you want representing America?” he asked. “I think this election, I think it’s [the] most important election of our lifetime,” Musk continued. “This is no ordinary election.” Musk then rattled off a number of ways that Democrats have stated they want to clamp down on American’s freedoms. “The other side wants to take away your freedom of speech,” he said. “They want to take away your right to bear arms. That want to take away your right to vote effectively. We’ve got 14 states now that don’t require voter ID.” “So how’re you supposed to have a good, proper election if there’s no ID? It’s meaningless,” he continued. “And free speech is the bedrock of democracy, and if people don’t know what’s going on, if they don’t know the truth, how can you make an informed vote? You must have free speech in order to have democracy. That’s why it’s the First Amendment, and the Second Amendment is there to ensure that we have the First Amendment.” Musk said that Trump must win the election “to preserve the Constitution” and to protect democracy in America. The tech titan has warned repeatedly in recent weeks that Democrats are trying to rig elections in the U.S. by importing millions of illegal aliens that they are seeking to make citizens so they can vote. Musk then pressed the crowd for a couple of minutes on the importance of registering to vote and doing it immediately, as the deadline to register is closing in swing states in the next couple of days. Trump Honors Fallen Fire Chief In Return To Butler: ‘Tremendous Courage, Tremendous Guts’

Former president Donald Trump took a moment of silence at his Butler, Pennsylvania, rally on Saturday to honor a retired fire chief who died at a rally in the same venue 12 weeks prior. Corey Comperatore attended Trump’s Butler rally on July 13 and died shielding his family as an assassin located on a nearby rooftop attempted to kill the former president. Trump returned to Butler on Saturday to complete the rally that ended in tragedy 12 weeks before. At 6:11 p.m. on Saturday, exactly 12 weeks from the assassin’s first shots, Trump held a moment of silence for Comperatore, who’s uniform covered an empty seat at the rally in his honor. The touching moment featured a performance of “Ave Maria” to honor Comperatore, who attended services at Cabot Methodist Church in Cabot, Pennsylvania. Trump went on to describe Comperatore’s legacy as “immortal.” Comperatore was “a protector who put his life on the line for others and he loved doing it, and when the sound of gunshots pierced the air on that July evening, Corey leapt into the fire one more time. In his last seconds on this earth, he threw himself on the top of his wife and daughters. He didn’t want them hurt,” Trump said. “Every father and husband in America hopes that, if the time came, we would have what Corey had: tremendous courage, tremendous guts.” At 6:11 pm tonight, 12 weeks from the exact moment that the assassin shot Corey Comperatore in Butler, Trump pauses and the entire rally falls silent in honor of Corey’s sacrifice. Trump describes Corey’s legacy as “immortal.”pic.twitter.com/3T013mRXQU — Mary Margaret Olohan (@MaryMargOlohan) October 5, 2024 Fifty-year-old Comperatore died on July 13 after an assassin, identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, opened fire at Trump from a nearby rooftop. Comperatore was fatally struck while shielding his family. Several other rally attendees were wounded. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro honored Comperatore’s sacrifice a day after the tragedy, calling the retired fire chief a “hero.” Am I Racist? Is In Theaters NOW — Get Your Tickets Here! “Corey was the very best of us, may his memory be a blessing,” Shapiro said. During the July assassination attempt, Trump was struck in the ear and rushed off the stage by Secret Service. Before he left, Trump stood with his fist raised and rallied the crowd, saying, “fight, fight, fight.” Trump honored Comperatore during the keynote address at the Republican National Convention that took place days after the rally. Trump held a moment of silence for Comperatore and kissed his helmet displayed over his uniform. “There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for others,” Trump said.

Mark Consuelos Gives Wife Kelly Ripa A Sweet On-Air Surprise For Her 54th Birthday

There is something about couples who have been together for a long time. They are often so in sync they know what the other is thinking before they even say it. Kelly Ripa and her husband, Mark Consuelos, are definitely that kind of duo. Mark knows his wife better than anyone, and on the star’s 54th birthday, the doting husband surprised the Live with Kelly and Mark Host with her favorite treat. “No birthday would be complete without your favorite annual Fudgie the Whale from Caravel,” Mark said with a cake in hand. Kelly joked, “Thank you, Carvel! Thank you for inventing Fudgie the Whale, which is the only reason I agree to turn older every year.” Mark And Kelly Are True Soulmates The pair met on the set of All My Children in 1995 and eloped in 1996. They have three children, Michael, 26, Lola, 22, and Joaquin, 20. It certainly takes a lot of love, patience, and devotion to stay married for 28 years, but Mark and Kelly seem to have it down to a science. The loving husband took to Instagram to share photos and a message to his wife set to Madonna’s Addicted. “Happy Birthday Sexy! I’m so glad you were born. What a beautiful sprint around the sun. The best is yet to come. P.S. I promise not to snore so much this year.” Kelly responded with love, “Thank you, baby, excellent song choice.” View this post on Instagram A post shared by Mark Consuelos (@instasuelos) Of course, fans shared birthday greetings. Andy Cohen came in early with “The Song!!! Happy birthday!” A fan shared, “Gorgeous !! Love u on show love u period !! Happy bday.” Another fan wrote, “Happiest Birthdays to you, Kelly! I promise not to snore as much to my husband! Have an awesome day! I love you so much!” Happy birthday, Kelly. May 54 will be your best year ever, with lots of cake and little snoring. NPR Admits They Bungled Story Smearing Rich Lowry As Saying the N-Word

NPR Admits They Bungled Story Smearing Rich Lowry As Saying the N-Word

National Public Radio still has an ombudsman, a "Public Editor," to respond to public complaints. That's appropriate, since the public pays for NPR. Often the liberals who dominate the NPR audience complain when they feel NPR is insufficiently "progressive." So it was a little shocking when Public Editor Kelly McBride admitted on October 4 that they botched an online story on September 17 attacking National Review editor Rich Lowry as bumbling into the N-word in Megyn Kelly's podcast as they discussed Haitians in Springfield, Ohio. NPR media reporter David Folkenflik wanted to boast that NPR ultimately came around to his sense that Lowry's stumble over the word "immigrant" wasn't a news story.  NPR is one of the only news orgs in the nation with a public editor or ombudsman. Her latest: When the facts are right, but the story is wrong : NPR Public Editor https://t.co/73tPiaMcAE — David Folkenflik (@davidfolkenflik) October 3, 2024 The headline is strange. The "facts" were not right in this story. McBride declared "We disagree with NPR on two points. First, the story as originally published wasn’t just unfair. It was inaccurate. The story told readers that Lowry 'appeared to use' the racial slur." The first headline smeared Lowry: “Conservative editor-in-chief appears to use racial slur to refer to Haitian migrants.” It currently reads: “Conservative editor-in-chief says mispronunciation led to accusations of using slur." Hearing the clip of Lowry speaking, it’s easy to see why people did a double-take. But we replayed it many times and heard what others eventually concluded: that Lowry bungled “migrants” and “immigrants” together. In fact, NPR media correspondent David Folkenflik tweeted out exactly that conclusion two and half hours before the NPR story was published, although his colleague who wrote the story did not see it. We wondered: Why run a story at all? NPR Vice President and Executive Editor Eva Rodriguez said C Mandler, the reporter who wrote the NPR story, pitched it after noticing a swirl of discussion about it on social media. “This was a moment that was garnering intense audience focus on social media,” Rodriguez told us in an email. “The purpose of this story was to respond to that audience interest with the relevant facts and context for them to better understand it.” C Mandler didn't put it in context. "C" identifies as non-binary, and was for two years a social-media operative at the leftist lobby GLAAD. She ("They") repeated a hot story among the leftist Twitterati. NPR messed up because they were "pouncing" on a potentially conservative-wrecking narrative. Lowry suffered harm: two speeches canceled on campus, at Indiana State and the University of Wisconsin.  McBride continued: Folkenflik told us he didn’t think there was a story there. “I think people should be dinged for and reported on what they actually do,” Folkenflik said, adding that he decided to acknowledge the incident on social media because it was in the media space and gained a fair amount of attention. A leftist activist at that group that goes by "MMFA" was the manure spreader that NPR joined. Never let the Left imply they don't fall into "misinformation."

10 tactics to beat even the pushiest car salesman

10 tactics to beat even the pushiest car salesman

Buying a car is a battle between you and the salesperson — and it isn't a fair fight. Car salesmen do this every day, honing the high-pressure sales pitches they use to get you to buy — on their terms. The average consumer, on the other hand, enters this arena maybe once every five years. Look the salesperson in the eye and say, 'Are you telling me that if I come back tomorrow, you can’t sell me the car?/ And there are a lot of moving parts. You have to haggle with salespeople over price and negotiate with lenders for an auto loan — all while trying to strike a deal for your trade-in. Mistakes will cost you. So let me prepare you! Take your time Some car salespeople use time as a tool. They’ll draw out the process until you’re exhausted. The salesperson is going to be there all day. So if you plan on negotiating, don’t be afraid to set aside an entire day to spend at the dealership, and bring something to occupy your time while you wait out the salesperson or sales manager to counter-offer. But you also don’t have to go through the entire process in a single day. It is fine to take multiple days to make a decision. Don't get held hostage When you go to the dealership, don’t get held hostage. Say: “Give me your best out-the-door price.” Then, if the salesperson offers to go back and forth negotiating with the manager, tell him to text or email you the results. Or you can immediately establish control of the process by saying something like, “I’m here for a test drive. Tomorrow, I’ll come back and talk numbers.” Keep your cards close to your chest Some car salespeople receive extensive training in how to break down the needs and vulnerabilities of prospective customers. Their quick assessment of customers allows them to tap into scripted questions, lead the process, and close the sale. Car salespeople are very specifically trained in how to persuade people. Understand what you want and how the salesman could take advantage of your weaknesses in negotiating. One question you might hear is “How much are you looking to spend per month?” If you announce that up front, it will skew the process. It leaves you vulnerable. Insist on talking numbers after you test-drive the vehicle and are in the process of signing paperwork. It’s fine to have car salespeople help answer some questions, but remember that they may use information against you, including vanity, family needs, or safety priorities, to upsell you on a more expensive car or options package. Establish purchase price before you talk trade-in Break down the purchase and keep your trade separate. The process should been done in stages and focus on only one at a time. Start with the car you want, then move to price negotiation, and leave add-ons and trade-ins for a separate discussion. Be prepared to walk away What if the salesperson says that if you don’t buy the car today, you’ll miss the big sale, or someone else will come to look at the car? That’s a sales tactic known as the impending event. Here they're counting on human nature: People get more interested in having something that they know someone else wants or already has. Suppose you’re at the car dealership looking around, and you pick out a particular vehicle and the salesman breaks the bad news to you, saying someone else already has a deposit on that car or there’s a buyer who said she'd be back later today to pick it up. That’s usually followed by the invitation to put a down payment on it or buy it right now before the other person comes back. They want you to spring for the purchase right then and there. Remember, you can find that identical car elsewhere, whether at another dealership or on the internet. You can also simply buy something else. So look the salesperson in the eye and say, “Are you telling me that if I come back tomorrow, you can’t sell me the car?” In other words, your best defense is to simply walk away or at least be prepared to do so. There are others cars available. Say 'no' to the porcupine close The "porcupine close" is a strategy where the seller “sticks” the potential buyer with a question. It could be, “If I could get you this monthly payment, would that be what it takes to get you to buy this car today?” Or “If I can get this in midnight blue, would you be willing to buy this today?” Just say "no." Instead, tell the salesperson you are shopping around with several dealers to find the best overall deal. Once you compare your offers, you plan to make a buying decision. Call out the Ben Franklin close The "Ben Franklin close." Here’s how it works: The salesperson draws a line down the middle of a piece of paper, listing reasons to buy the car on one side and reasons not to buy on the other side. This is a very common sales gimmick in the auto industry and elsewhere. You want to focus on the numbers you care about during this tactic. This is your monthly payment, your down payment, and your auto loan’s length, interest rate, and overall cost. Know what those numbers should be, according to your budget, before you go into the dealership, and make sure you stick to those numbers. And don’t forget the insurance costs, which have increased lately. The best way to defuse this tactic is to call out the salesperson by saying “That’s the Ben Franklin close.” Doing so will likely create an awkward moment with the salesperson, but it will also prevent the tactic from continuing. It’s a very sharp move on your part. Deflect "choice" questions A good car salesperson will never ask yes or no questions because they don’t want to give you a chance to say no. You will be offered a choice between two things, like whether you would prefer a model in blue or red. Take a lesson from the political arena. Deflect the question by responding with a noncommittal answer, like saying you’re interested in a variety of colors, before switching to a different topic. Beware the finance manager upsell The finance manager is one of the most skilled people at the dealership. He will recommend that you pile on a bundle of extras that you don’t need. Because you’re spending a lot of money on the car, you may be encouraged to buy interior stain protection, anti-theft devices, rustproofing, and an extended warranty. To ensure additional costs don’t add up, go line by line through your bill, looking for dealer fees you can negotiate down or avoid altogether. Some common ones to look out for are vehicle preparation fees, title fees, and gap insurance. Know what you want and need before going to the dealership, and stick to your mission. You should ideally already have financing lined up, so constantly remind the finance manager that you have a set budget and you are not flexible. Prepare to fight for your money Salesmen are usually under pressure to maximize the profits on each vehicle they sell to increase their commission, and this influences how they interact with you. The more a car salesmen convinces you to pay for a vehicle, the more profit he makes. The commission may be as high as 25% of the vehicle’s final sales price. In addition, the dealership management offers bonuses for selling cars that may have been sitting on the lot. There are still more bonuses from the car manufacturer, called holdback, for salesmen or the dealership when meeting a sales quota on a particular model year or vehicle model. Understanding the most common tactics will help you stay confident during negotiation. But it’s not the only tool you have. Research multiple vehicles, know the value of your trade-in, and get financing before you go to the dealership. Check with a credit union for low rates. You don’t need to be a pro; you just need to be firm on how much you’re willing to spend and what you really need. As I always say, knowledge is power.
