School District Sued After Punishing Parents for ‘Silent Protest’ Against Male Player on Girls Soccer Team

DAILY CALLER NEWS FOUNDATION—A coalition of parents sued the Bow School District in New Hampshire on Monday after being punished and threatened over a “silent protest” standing up for women’s sports. Multiple parents and one grandfather decided to wear pink wristbands during a soccer game to show support for protecting women’s sports, to which the school district threatened to have them arrested for trespassing, the complaint states. The New Hampshire Department of Education was preliminarily enjoined by the court in September from enforcing a state law that cracked down on biological males from participating in women’s sports. The parents claim that the district “conspired” with a referee and police officer to intimidate and prevent the group from expressing their First Amendment rights, the lawsuit states. After the soccer game, the school banned anyone speaking out from being on school property and attending future games. “Bow School District’s ban on demonstrations criticizing the decision to allow biological boys to play girls’ soccer—cloaked in the language of ‘disruption’ and ‘harassment’—is unconstitutional viewpoint discrimination,” the lawsuit states. “The First Amendment does not allow state-operated schools to become ‘enclaves of totalitarianism.’” The school district’s policy allows officials to monitor the behavior of anyone on school property or in attendance at a school event, which includes “any buildings, vehicles, property, land or facilities used for school purposes or school-sponsored events, whether public or private,” the complaint continues. The high school’s athletics handbook also states that it regulates the conduct and speech of individuals in attendance at games. Days before the soccer game, Nicole Foote, a mother of one of the players on Bow’s team, met with the athletic director to express concern regarding the potential risks of allowing a biological man to compete in women’s sports, to which the director said the court prevented the school from doing anything, the lawsuit states. The athletic director sent an email the night before the game stating that following the handbook, they would “impose obligations” on any actions from the sideline, noting that any “inappropriate signs, references or language” would not be allowed. The athletic director also claimed that some differentiating opinions regarding the game would be fine, according to the complaint. Some individuals who wore the pink wristbands wrote “XX” on them to support female athletes, and no parents on the sidelines wore them in the first half of the game. Besides the wristbands, there were no other indications of parents outwardly protesting, but the athletic director told one parent that he had to take off the wristbands, to which he then argued that First Amendment rights protect the use of the wristbands. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, a Republican, signed a bill in 2023 that banned transgender individuals from participating in women’s collegiate sports. Similar to Texas, West Virginia passed a law banning biological men from partaking in women’s athletics, but a court blocked the law in April. Bow High School did not immediately provide a comment to the Daily Caller News Foundation. [WATCH] ILA Union President Asked If He’s Worried Strike Will Hurt Everyday Americans

A reporter asked International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) President Harold J. Daggett if he’s worried the dockworker strike will hurt everyday Americans. “Now you start to realize who the longshoremen are, right? People never gave a s*** about us until now, when they finally realize that the chain is being broke now,” Daggett said. “Cars won’t come in, food won’t come in, clothing won’t come in. You know how many people depend on our jobs? Half the world! And it’s time for them and it’s time for Washington to put so much pressure on them to take care of us,” he continued. WATCH: Longshoremen pres. boasts about a strike hurting everyday Americans: “People never gave a shit about us until now, when they finally realize that the chain is being broke now. Cars won’t come in, food won’t come in, clothing won’t come in.” pic.twitter.com/rHJf1e96YU — Tom Elliott (@tomselliott) October 1, 2024 “The ILA is demanding sizable wage hikes and a complete ban on the use of automated cranes, gates and container-moving trucks in unloading or loading freight. Members of the union make a base salary of about $81,000 per year, but some can pull in over $200,000 annually with large amounts of overtime,” CBS News wrote. “Union filings from the Department of Labor, meanwhile, indicate Daggett earned a $728,000 gross salary last year,” Fox Business noted. Daggett also owns a yacht and drives a Bentley, reports indicate. Harold Daggett earned $728,000 last year from the ILA, plus $173,000 as President of a local union branch. Sporting a polo shirt with a chunky gold medallion around his neck, the 78-year-old Daggett, who as president of the International Longshoremen’s Association is leading the port strikes stretching from Maine to Texas, was prone to theatrical flourishes in a September interview as he geared up for the strike. “They’re gonna be like this,” Daggett said, grabbing his neck in a choking gesture. “I’ll cripple you. I will cripple you and you have no idea what that means. Nobody does.” Since last year, Daggett has threatened to shut down the 36 ports covered by his union if “money crazy” shipping companies refused to issue wage hikes and protections for workers against industry automation. “Who’s going to support [workers’] families? Machines? Machines don’t have families,” he previously said. Meanwhile, Daggett — has worked at the ILA for 57 years and took the helm as president in 2011 — raked in $728,000 in compensation last year from the ILA. He collected another $173,000 as president emeritus of a local union branch, according to labor department filings. He lives in a 7,136 square-foot house valued at $1.7 million on a 10-acre lot in Sparta, New Jersey, according to Zillow and NJ Property Records. Harold Daggett, the ILA boss who pledged to "cripple" the United States, owns a 76-foot yacht, a Bentley, and gets paid over $900,000. He was acquitted on RICO charges after the main witness against him, mobster Lawrence Ricci, was found decomposing in a car trunk in New Jersey. pic.twitter.com/VgJ0QtkrV2 — Max Meyer (@mualphaxi) October 1, 2024 Per CBS News: The work stoppage, the first at East and Gulf Coast ports since 1977, follows a lengthy impasse in labor talks between the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) and the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX), a shipping industry group representing terminal operators and ocean carriers. The strike was expected to involve 25,000 workers, according to USMX, and close 14 ports: Baltimore; Boston; Charleston, South Carolina; Jacksonville, Florida; Miami (USMX groups Port Everglades in Ford Lauderdale, Florida, with the Port of Miami); Houston; Mobile, Alabama; New Orleans; New York/New Jersey; Norfolk, Virginia; Philadelphia; Savannah, Georgia; Tampa, Florida; and Wilmington, Delaware. “USMX brought on this strike when they decided to hold firm to foreign owned Ocean Carriers earning billion-dollar profits at United States ports, but not compensate the American ILA longshore workers who perform the labor that brings them their wealth,” ILA President Harold Daggett said in a statement posted on social media. “We are prepared to fight as long as necessary, to stay out on strike for whatever period of time it takes, to get the wages and protections against automation our ILA members deserve.”

Multiple Migrants Face Accusations Of Looting In Tennessee Following Hurricane Helene

A group of migrant workers face accusations of looting properties in a flood-ravaged area of Tennessee following the destruction of Hurricane Helene. Washington County authorities captured eight men who allegedly looted in one of the county’s flood zones. The other five men — Albin Nahun Vega-Rapalo, 24, David Bairon Rapalo-Rapalo, 37, Kevin Noe Martinez-Lopez, 25, Marvin Hernandez-Martinez, 43, and Dayln Gabriel Guillen Guillen, 37 — were charged with aggravated burglary for breaking into occupied structures, the sheriff’s office said. The defendants are migrant workers who are in the country legally on work visas, a sheriff’s spokesperson told The Post Monday. Immigration and Customs Enforcement did not immediately have information on the men Monday evening. The alleged looters were being held on $20,000 bonds and expected to appear in court Monday. It’s unknown if the looting happened in residential homes or businesses. One of the most dramatic scenes played out at the Unicoi County Hospital, where the overflowing Nolichucky River forced more than fifty patients and care workers to seek refuge on the roof. Eventually everyone was rescued, with a helicopter landing on the roof and boats arriving to ferry some patients away. A man in Tennessee posted a terrifying first hand view of what it was like on the ground when the Nolichucky River burst past the dam. Jeffrey Fuller live-streamed the hurricane tearing through his property on Facebook. The video showed waist-high waters barreling through the home, with Fuller shouting over the rushing current that the storm ‘came in quick… we’re going into the attic.’ Helene, which made landfall as a Category 4 hurricane in Florida’s Big Bend Region, might have dissipated, but the devastation it has caused will be long lasting. So far, 128 people have died across six states, CNN reported.

‘Squad’ Member Condemns Israel For ‘Escalating Violence’ As Iranian Missiles Rain Down On Country

Far leftist Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) posted a harsh criticism of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday morning as reports surfaced of Iran launching a massive missile attack on Israel. Pressley blamed Netanyahu and the Israeli military for “escalating violence” in the Middle East and claimed that Israel’s actions have “incit[ed] a regional war.” The Democrat posted the criticism of Israel as Iran fired approximately 200 missiles at the U.S. ally. “Netanyahu’s invasion of Lebanon is putting millions of people at risk, forcing thousands to be displaced, and inciting a regional war,” she wrote. “The escalating violence must end. In Lebanon, in Gaza, and across the region.” Iran’s missile attack on Israel placed almost the entire country under red alerts as civilians were told to take cover in bomb shelters. Videos posted to social media showed missiles hitting the ground while many of them were intercepted by Israel’s “Iron Dome” defense system. Iranian projectiles over Israel. Approx. 10 million Israeli civilians are the targets of Iranian projectiles. We will never apologise for protecting our people . Am Yisrael Chai ?? pic.twitter.com/huCBFNeGJF — David Saranga (@DavidSaranga) October 1, 2024 Sirens continue to sound across Israel amid an Iranian missile attack. Some media reports in Israel suggest that over 100 missiles have been launched in the attack. pic.twitter.com/BJ8R3H6XSw — Emanuel (Mannie) Fabian (@manniefabian) October 1, 2024 Many of the social media posts showing video of Iran’s attack on Israel went up just minutes after Pressley posted her criticism of Israel on X. As of Tuesday afternoon, Pressley has yet to post anything in response to Iran’s attack on Israel. The Democrat has routinely condemned Israel after Hamas launched a brutal attack on the country and sparked a war on October 7, 2023. Israel has responded by taking out much of Hamas’ and Hezbollah’s leadership while also targeting other Iranian-backed terrorists in Yemen and Lebanon. Most of the responses to Pressley’s X post slammed the Democrat congresswoman for condemning Israel as it was under attack. Am I Racist? Is In Theaters NOW — Get Your Tickets Here! “My sister is cowering in her shelter right now. GFY,” wrote Boston Herald reporter Gabrielle Starr before she apparently deleted her comment. Conservative commentator Dave Rubin simply replied, “Evil witch.” “Any comment about the missiles falling on Israel right now?” another X user asked. Shortly before Iran launched a barrage of ballistic missiles at Israel, at least eight people were killed, and seven people were wounded in a shooting in Tel Aviv. The shooting and Iran’s missile attack on Israel come just six days before the one-year mark of Hamas’ October 7 massacre of more than 1,200 people in Israel.

CNN Guest Claims Americans Are Better Off Now Than 4 Years Ago, And Byron Donalds Can’t Hold Back

Former Clinton White House aide Keith Boykin claimed on CNN that the American people are better off now than they were four years ago, prompting an audible reaction from Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL). Both Boykin and Donalds — along with Republican commentator Scott Jennings and anchor Abby Phillip — participated in a panel discussion, and the topic turned to Tuesday evening’s vice presidential debate and potential questions about the state of the U.S. economy. Jennings shared video of the exchange, captioning the clip, “Come for my point-by-point takedown of why Trump is more trusted on the economy, & stay for @ByronDonalds’ reaction to assertion ‘we are better off than we were four years ago’ on @CNN.” WATCH: Come for my point-by-point takedown of why Trump is more trusted on the economy, & stay for @ByronDonalds reaction to assertion “we are better off than we were four years ago” on @CNN pic.twitter.com/8zSX0F0T9l — Scott Jennings (@ScottJenningsKY) October 1, 2024 “I think if you look at it holistically, the two campaigns are having a debate about the economy,” Jennings began. “And Trump has things to say, Harris has things to say, and right now, according to all the polling, Trump is more trusted on the economy. Trump’s term in office, people look back on it more fondly than they look upon the Biden and Harris term, largely because of the economy and largely because of inflation.” Jennings went on to say that one of the reasons Harris has been struggling on economic issues is that she has thus far failed to convince voters that if elected president, she would chart a different course than the one she navigated alongside President Joe Biden. Am I Racist? Is In Theaters NOW — Get Your Tickets Here! “She may think that’s a good path, it’s just that the American people do not believe that, and it’s not even close,” he concluded. Boykin jumped in then, claiming that Harris had laid out her economic plan in the debate — but Jennings stopped him, reminding him that Harris had not had an answer when she was asked directly in the very first question of the night whether she believed Americans were better off than they’d been four years earlier. “I’ll tell you what though, people are better off than they were four years ago,” Boykin asserted. He kept going, but the camera panned to Donalds, whose eyes widened as he simply said, “Wow. Wow.”
