Police station in exposed area abandoned - too unsafe

After a security analysis, the police have decided to abandon the police station in the multicultural so-called particularly vulnerable area of ​​Vivalla in Örebro. The premises must have too many shortcomings in terms of security.

It was after it was assessed that the external situation had worsened, with, among other things, an increased terrorist threat level, that local police area chief Roberto Eid Forest asked the police's security department to draw up a renewed security analysis.

- It is after that that we see that we need to find a new location. The location of the police station, as it is now, connected to the situation in the outside world means that we are looking at where else we can locate ourselves in Vivalla. We see value in being in Vivalla going forward, he tells Nerikes Allehanda .

Despite the alleged value of being in Vivalla, they will no longer have any staff there, but will move to the police station in central Örebro.

Roberto Eid Forest says he understands that it can be perceived as abandoning Vivalla, but assures that they will continue to have the same visibility in the area.

New facilities
The plan is to find new premises in Vivalla that are better adapted to the times. They have the current premises until 2026 and will continue to pay rent even though they are not being used.

Particularly exposed area
In December, the police announced that Vivalla is still classified as a so-called particularly vulnerable area.

At the same time, two more areas in Örebro, Oxhagen and Varberga, were classified as risk areas.
