On Sunday morning, three arctic wolves attacked a woman while she was jogging. The attack took place in the Thoiry wildlife park in France near Paris, according to the BBC .
Thoiry is one of France's most popular wildlife parks. The 36-year-old woman had been staying overnight in the cottage area of Thoiry Park, which is protected by electric fences and ditches.
The woman had gone for a run in the morning, and for some unknown reason had ended up in the main safari area, which should only be reached by car.
According to Le Parisien, the accident happened a little after nine on Sunday morning. The woman received serious bites on her neck, back and leg. The woman was rushed to the hospital for intensive care.
The wildlife park in question has about 800 animals that roam freely in the area. In addition to wolves, there are also coyotes and bears in the area. According to the BBC, animals can be observed safely while driving, but no one should have to go there on foot.
- We don't know at this stage whether the guest has made a mistake or whether there were perhaps flaws in the signs, an anonymous police source commented to Le Parisien.
Thoiry is located about 40 kilometers west of Paris, and is one of France's most popular wildlife parks.
According to the BBC, the park authorities have so far not commented on the incident.
Le Parisien says that the park reopened its doors to visitors shortly after the accident.
