As a director known for pushing boundaries and exploring the unconventional, Mark Christopher Lee has carved out a unique niche in the world of cinema. His work often delves into the realms of the extraordinary, blending creativity with thought-provoking themes that challenge the status quo. From independent films to documentaries, Mark’s portfolio is as diverse as it is intriguing. Jake: Starting with your background, how did you first get into filmmaking, and what inspired you to pursue this path? Mark: I got into film-making because I wanted to tell the story of my band the pocket gods. I’ve been a musician for 30 plus years and the pocket gods have been going for 25 and with our campaign for fairer royalties from Spotify, Guinness World Records and our £1million album – thought it would make a good film. I made the film Inspired The 30 Second Song Movie – it’s out on official YouTube Movie channel – but then wanted to turn to UFOs and the paranormal for my next series of films as alongside music this was my biggest passion. Jake: Is there a particular film you’ve worked on that you feel most connected to or proud of? Mark: My latest film The King OF UFOs now streaming on Tubi in the US is the film I’m most proud of. It’s the first one with a budget thanks to winning the film pitching competition at Raindance Film Festival who produced the film and was amazing to work alongside the renowned Elliot Grove. The film tells a really good story in my opinion of the little know passion that the British Royals had in UFOS – even the Queen we found out would end her scientific advisors out in the middle of the night to check out the latest Crop Circle formation! We were also contacted by ex Canadian diver Dan Costello who tells an extraordinary tale of Prince Charles piloting an experimental UFO type craft in 1975. Jake: You’ve explored the UFO phenomenon extensively in your work. What first sparked your interest in this subject? Mark: As a child of the 70’s I first became interested in UFOs and the paranormal after watching the Arthur C Clarke’s Mysterious World Series on TV. It blew my mind this then coincided with the release of the Unexplained magazine and I then started going to the library seeking out books and information on UFOs – it’s not like today where we can pick up our phones and access the information we seek immediately – back then it took real effort and determination – 2 traits which have served me well going forward! The film looks at the story that Prince Charles was one of 3 pilots flying a prototype UFO craft in Canada in 1975. Jake: Through your research, have you come across any case studies or personal stories that have particularly stood out or impacted you? Mark: Through all my recent research was has touched me the most is the profound impact that UFO and Alien experiences have on individuals – mostly detrimental – especially in terms of their mental health. It has also raised interesting questions for me such as are these mental health issues caused by the encounters or does a persons mental health condition cause the experience? It’s something I’m going to look into going forward. Jake: In your opinion, why has the UFO phenomenon remained a mystery for so long despite the growing body of evidence and witness testimonies? Mark: It’s remained a mystery I think because there are those who the reality and control its release to the public – but they realize that the public wouldn’t be able to handle it. They’d be able to handle the nuts and bolts of physical craft coming from other planets with other exotic life forms on them – but would the public be able to handle that theses intelligence are something far weirder like from another reality or dimension or even time. My studies have taken me down this road – that life Is far weirder than just what is on this earthly plane. There is something beyond the physical realm and this realm sometimes overlaps with ours producing paranormal and UFO phenomena. Jake: As someone deeply involved in this topic, what would you say to skeptics who dismiss UFO sightings and reports as mere hoaxes or misunderstandings? Mark: Ok well I’m a skeptic too! I have a science degree and always try to rationalize sightings and a lot to be honest can be explained easily but there’s always the nagging 2% of cases that just can’t explained by conventional means and these are what interests me. You have to have an open mind that anything is possible but how you prove something that is ethereal and intangible I don’t know. Jake: Do you believe there’s a connection between UFO sightings and religion, or do you lean more toward extraterrestrial explanations? Mark: Yes I believe there is a connection between UFO sightings and spiritual. I just don’t believe the plausibility of beings on another planet somehow fining us in such a vast universe… How could they? I think it’s therefore more likely that the phenomena is something else possibly always been here or from a different plane or dimension of existence and that this has influenced our religions and spirituality. There’s definitely something more spiritual to it than just nuts and bolts craft from another planet. This also could tie in with life as a simulation being controlled by a God somewhere. Jake: Have your personal views on the UFO phenomenon evolved over time, especially after interacting with researchers, witnesses, and government officials? Mark: My views have evolved over time and I guess they will continue to. I’m also aware that it can be all consuming and a lot of people go crazy down this rabbit hole. It’s healthy to remain grounded and in the real world – I do think there is another reality somewhere but we might as well enjoy our limited time and do good in this physical plain we are in! Jake: What do you think the future holds for UFO research and disclosure? Do you foresee a time when the truth about UFOs will become undeniable? Mark: As regards the future I really don’t know – I suspect that there are private sector interests involved in the US with regards to the truth about UFOs – that somehow they want to monetize and militarize this – some call it the deep state – I’m not sure the likes of Trump or even RKF JR can call them in – they answer to no-one. I’m hoping that enough good people will find the proof and release it to the world – if there is some great inter dimensional tech then it should be used for the benefit for all humankind not just the US military. Jake: Lastly, what new projects related to the UFO phenomenon are you currently working on, and what can audiences expect from you in the near future? Mark: My latest film is about the British Roswell – Rendlesham where something landed in 1980 on a NATO base in the UK. We’ve investigate claims that there is still weird activity going on in that area and is akin to Skinwalker Ranch in the US – we also took our own equipment and caught weird unexplained phenomena on camera so we’re excited to share this proof with the world! We also have the legendary William B Davis (CSM from The X Files) narrating this film and he was amazing to work with! The truth is out there and we have caught it on film!
