Father Arrested After Allegedly Shooting, Killing Man He Found With His Missing Teenage Daughter
An Arkansas father was arrested and charged with first-degree murder after allegedly shooting and killing a man he found with his missing teenage daughter.
The Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were dispatched to a residence around 1:12 a.m. on Tuesday about a missing juvenile.
“While en route, deputies were notified that the father, Aaron Spencer, had located the juvenile in a vehicle with Michael Fosler,” the Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office wrote.
“A confrontation between the two adult males ensued, which resulted in a shooting. Deputies immediately initiated an investigation. Michael Fosler was pronounced dead at the scene, and Aaron Spencer was taken into custody. Spencer was transported to the Lonoke County Detention Center and has been charged with Murder in the First Degree, a class Y felony,” the statement continued.
“This is still an open investigation. We remind the public that all parties are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law,” it added.
Spencer was released the following day after posting bail.
“Aaron Spencer, 36, was arrested after allegedly shooting and killing Michael Fosler, 67, whom he found in a vehicle with his missing 14-year-old daughter. Fosler had a ‘no contact order’ for stalking and raping the teen earlier this year,” Mario Nawfal wrote.
“Spencer faces a preliminary charge of first-degree murder but has not yet been formally charged,” he added.

Per Fox News:
Sheriff John Staley said in a video on Facebook that Spencer has not been formally charged yet and that the District Attorney’s Office will decide which charges to file.
“This is a tragic situation and my thoughts and prayers are with all involved,” Staley said.
Spencer’s wife, Heather, said on Facebook that Fosler had a “no contact order” with her daughter for stalking and raping the 14-year-old over the summer and that she and her husband feared he might kill her. She said that she and her husband were unaware Fosler was again in contact with her child.
“We absolutely called 911 during the entire event,” she wrote. “We had no idea this man was in contact with our child again. He was waiting 6-9 felonies for what he did, not 2. He was looking at the rest of his pathetic life in jail, and our daughter was the only witness.”
“Some things we will never know, but we know that the police department afforded this predator privacy they did not give our family,” she continued. “Including posting our home address. I’m deeply offended by the way this was handled by the county [sheriff’s] office.”
One X user defended Spencer, saying he’s a “family friend” and a “good man.”
“Aaron is a family friend of mine. I promise he is a good man. A man raped his 14 year old daughter. He was arrested, and let go on bond. He was given orders to stay away from her. She is the testimony witness,” X user ‘Among the Wildflowers’ said.
“He kidnapped her. While on call with 911, Aaron left to look for her. He found the rapist in the truck with her. He did what every good father would do- protect his child. Clearly the legal system won’t. Free Aaron Spencer. The family has been through enough,” the post added.

USA TODAY reports:
A woman identifying herself as the girl’s mother shared a series of updates on Facebook after the incident. She confirmed that the family was able to post bail and get her husband out of jail, but they started a fundraiser to retain a lawyer.
“We are private people, so all of this being public has been very difficult,” The woman shared on Facebook Wednesday afternoon.
In her post, she said the family had a no-contact order in place for Fosler due to stalking.
The man who was shot, Fosler, had been arrested by another agency in July and booked for internet stalking of a child and sexual assault, Sheriff Staley told USA TODAY Friday afternoon.
