FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
What’s a good side for Texas Toast French Dips? These French Dips can be served as an appetizer or as a meal with whatever side you enjoy. Try serving with French Fries, chips, onion rings, with your favorite steamed veggies, or a big side salad. How do I prevent the toast from getting soggy? I suggest baking the toast slightly longer than the box instructions say, so they get a little extra crispy. That way, when you add the au jus gravy, it’s a little more substantial to hold up the extra liquid. Can I use something else other than Texas Toast? Absolutely, if you don’t have Texas Toast, any Garlic Bread will do. You can even make Homemade Garlic Bread and use slices of that. What’s the best way to store leftovers? Keep leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days, freeze for up to 3 months. What’s the best way to reheat Texas Toast French Dips? I suggest reheating leftovers back in the oven to help crisp up the toast again. Or an air fryer. You could try the microwave, but it may make the bread soggy.
INGREDIENTS NEEDED: (SEE RECIPE CARD BELOW FOR THE FULL RECIPE)
frozen garlic Texas Toast – any bread will do, I just really enjoy garlic Texas Toast since it adds so much flavor without all the fuss.
au jus gravy mix– grab a packet on your next grocery run, or make your own if you have a good recipe.
cold water
sliced deli roast beef – you can buy the prepackaged roast beef or get a nicer quality cut from the deli. Either will work just fine.
provolone cheese– other cheese can be used in place of provolone. Mozzarella, white cheddar, or Swiss would all be good options.
dried parsley – for an optional garnish – just adds a nice little green touch!
HOW TO MAKE TEXAS TOAST FRENCH DIPS:
Preheat the oven to 425°F. Line a sheet tray with parchment paper. Cook the Texas Toast per the directions on the back of the box, mine cooked for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through. While the toast is baking, make the au jus with water according to the package directions.
Once the toast and au jus are ready, warm the roast beef in the jus.
On top of each piece of toast, place a half slice of cheese. Top all of the toasts evenly with the roast beef slices.
Add the remaining cheese on top. Bake for 3-5 minutes until melted.
Serve immediately with the au jus for dipping.
