Same, George. Last night during the CMA Awards, the King himself George Strait was honored with the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award, which is a prestigious honor that goes to an iconic artist as one of the highest degrees of recognition in country music. Jamey Johnson, Miranda Lambert, Parker McCollum, Chris Stapleton and Lainey Wilson also performed an all-star with some of his biggest hits, and obviously, it was a highlight of the evening. Strait gave a beautiful acceptance speech where he thanked God, his wife, family, team and of course fans, and it was heartwarming to see this legend properly honored for his contributions and important place in country music: https://www.instagram.com/p/DCnll3Ptqpc/ But when he wasn't singing with Stapleton or speaking to the crowd, let's just say... it didn't look like the King of country was loving the whole circus that has become the CMA Awards. A few times during the evening, the camera panned to him, notably during Shaboozey and Bailey Zimmerman's performances, and the look on his face truly says it all. I can only imagine what he was thinking for most of this sh*t show (save for a few truly great performances from the likes of Chris Stapleton, Kacey Musgraves and Ashley McBryde)... and fans took notice online.
